Rock Climber Kyra Condie in Two-Piece Workout Gear is "Training to Break the Glass Ceiling"

Here’s how she stays in shape.

Kyra Condie is a professional rock climber who has made waves in the climbing world. With a gold medal from the 2018 Pan American Games, another from the 2019 US Climbing Invitational, and a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she has proven herself as one of the best. Condie shares her fitness journey and favorite workouts on Instagram, inspiring her followers with her discipline and positivity. Recently, she posted a video of a workout session with fellow climber Allison Vest, captioned: "Training to break the glass ceiling." In addition to her climbing achievements, Condie is a vegetarian and advocates for staying hydrated, mindful eating, and diverse workout routines that include strength, cardio, and core exercises.

She Works Out With Others

As you can see from her Instagram post, Condie likes to workout with other people. Better Health states that doing this can improve your overall fitness level and health. "When you exercise with a friend who's around the same fitness level as you, you're more likely to encourage each other and to push a little harder (to increase intensity, for example) than you might do on your own. A friend can bring out your competitive side and spur you on. When you're ready to give up, the sight of your friend powering on might be just the incentive you need to keep going."

She Stays Hydrated

Condie opened up about her typical diet in an interview with Delish. She says that she is working on staying hydrated on a regular basis. "I'm super bad about drinking water, but I have been working on it a lot. I try to make sure I drink at least three cups while I'm just at home, but I also drink a fair amount from my water bottle at the gym."

Condie tells Delish that she follows a vegetarian diet. "I try to cook all my meals so I know what's in them, but I don't restrict what I eat at all," she says of her diet. "I'm vegetarian and have been since I was 8 years old, [even] before I became an athlete." Harvard Health states that eating a vegetarian diet has a lot of benefits. "Compared with meat eaters, vegetarians tend to consume less saturated fat and cholesterol and more vitamins C and E, dietary fiber, folic acid, potassium, magnesium, and phytochemicals (plant chemicals), such as carotenoids and flavonoids. As a result, they're likely to have lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and lower body mass index (BMI), all of which are associated with longevity and a reduced risk for many chronic diseases."

She Works Her Abs

Condie shares a lot of her favorite workouts on Instagram. In this post, she shared some of her favorite ab exercises. Condie is seen doing things like plank dips and windshield wipers. She captioned the post, "Quick look ๐Ÿ‘€ at my most common core exercises! Most of my ab workouts come incidentally from climbing, climbing specific workouts, and lifting, but these are my favorites/most common. In order: windshield wipers, front lever rows, side plank dips, and weighted pull-ups!"

She Does Cardio

Condie does cardio exercises to stay in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing some of them with her trainer. Condie captioned the post, "Get you someone who makes you train like @boxingisforgirls does ๐ŸฅตI seriously would never be able to make it through these cardio workouts without a trainer๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸผI've never been a believer in cardio for climbing until recently, and I still hate it, but I notice how much calmer I am on the wall ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ so we keep at it ๐Ÿคœ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ฅ"
