Mackenzie Salmon is showing off her new ‘do and posing for photos – in her workout gear. In a few new social media posts the sports host flaunts her fit figure in an exercise set while revealing her newly lightened locks. “ITS A NEW ERA,” she captioned one of the posts. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. No Dieting

Mackenzie doesn’t believe in drastic diets. “Around here, we’re not counting macros, tracking, skipping meals or restricting ourselves 💫 we’re focused on ingredients, an abundance of whole foods and eating intuitively. In a world that feels like each week there’s a new diet trend, promise me you’ll stick to what feels best and what truly nourishes you,” she writes in a post. Instead, she meal preps. “If you’re on a weight loss journey or even just trying to be more mindful of what you’re consuming, my best tip is to start SMALL and add things in slowly so that you can let it regulate in your nervous system. Start with adding veggies in throughout the day, do that for a month and then once you start to feel good doing that, add another element.”

2. Running

Mackenzie is a runner. She recently attended Runningman and shared about it on social media. “My heart is full of happiness and appreciation for all the kind humans I met at Runningman. To see so many people crush their goals, do things they’ve never done before, and to support one another from different walks of life is something you can’t find in many places. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a similar experience. Can’t wait for next year, and here’s to doing new things with new friends,” she captioned a post. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. “For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories,” they say.

3. Cycling

Mackenzie doesn’t just enjoy cycling – she teaches spin classes. “My first Saturday class back on the podium was a party and I can’t thank everyone enough for making me feel welcomed! I seriously missed y’all SO much. I love the community at @cyclebarjerseycity and feel blessed to be a part of it. These are only some of the highlights from the day, I promise. This Saturday I’ve got an edm vs hip hop GLOW RIDE explicit, so come thru,” she captioned a post. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.

4. Strength Training

Strength training is also a key part of Mackenzie’s devotion to stay in shape. “All work no play,” she captioned a snap from the gym. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

5. Prioritizing Mental and Physical Health

Mackenzie stresses the importance of exercise for more than just the physical benefits. “Prioritizing my mental and physical health is so important to me, so if I have an hour to scroll social media then there’s no excuse to not take care of myself! Whether you think about it or not, you prioritize what is important to you. With a little bit of effort and planning, your whole day can change for the better. Your health is YOUR responsibility. Take care of your body in every aspect, and it’ll thank you in return,” she writes in a post.
