The taekwondo athlete from France and silver medalist, Magda Wiet-Hénin puts in the work to maintain her fit physique and mental strength. Magda Wiet-Hénin posted a video on Instagram of her kicking and cardio training with a partner, captioned “me and my favorite gym partner ✨😄 #taekwondo #taekwondotraining #cardio #training.” Here’s what she does to stay fit.


1. She works on herself

In a video of her meditating, doing yoga captioned “Friday Self Care💙,” (translated) she looks healthy and happy, showing how important it is to prioritize your mental wellbeing. According to the Mayo Clinic, “meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit your emotional well-being and your overall health. You also can use it to relax and cope with stress by focusing on something that calms you. Meditation can help you learn to stay centered and keep inner peace.”

2. She learns from experience

Even through tough times, she can find the lesson. On a photo on Instagram (translated), she said “that's life, that's sport with its joys and its sorrows. I had started with a strategy, but I was wrong and it didn't work. She was stronger than me. Well done to her, it's only a postponement. Thanks to all the supporters, the staff, my federation, the French team and my sponsors, without whom this adventure would not have been possible.”

3. She enjoys the water

As seen in a series of photos and videos, captioned on Instagram “Bali-lucky 🌈🌸🐢🙏🏽,” (translated), she’s seen spending time swimming, enjoying the water. According to Heroes on the Water, “studies released by BlueHealth, a research organization that investigates links between urban blue spaces, climate and health, show that spending time near water actually has a bit of an edge over time spent interacting with green spaces in terms of overall health benefits.”

4. She stays hydrated

She knows the importance of drinking plenty of water. In a series of photos on Instagram of her looking confident and happy, she said “electronic gloves, water bottle, strap, courage and perseverance, everything I need to prepare for the worlds..A few weeks to achieve one of my biggest sporting dreams,” (translated).

5. She kickboxes

In a video of her training and kickingboxing, she said “sport is life 💙✨#taekwondo #kick,” on Instagram (translated). According to the Cleveland Clinic and clinical exercise physiologist Erik Van Iterson, PhD, “when part of an overall heart-healthy lifestyle, not only can regular cardio exercise lead to a decrease in your resting blood pressure and heart rate, but these basic changes can also mean your heart doesn’t have to work unnecessarily hard all of the time, says Dr. Van Iterson. Maintaining a good cardio routine also helps improve good cholesterol levels while lowering blood fats.
