Kate Micucci is a well-known comedian, actress, and musician (often posting videos of her playing the guitar on social media). Kate showed her followers around her gym on Instagram, with a quirky hidden crocheting room. Aside from her acting career with roles in The Little Hours, Raising Hope, The Big Bang Theory, Easy, DuckTales, and When in Rome to name a few, Micucci prioritizes her health and wellness, especially after battling lung cancer as a non-smoker.

1. She makes time for working out

She makes her gym time fun by finding “#crochetgym @crochetartstudio_ @strengthacademygym 🥑” she said in an Instagram post. According to the Cleveland Clinic, “when part of an overall heart-healthy lifestyle, not only can regular cardio exercise lead to a decrease in your resting blood pressure and heart rate, but these basic changes can also mean your heart doesn’t have to work unnecessarily hard all of the time, says Dr. Van Iterson. Maintaining a good cardio routine also helps improve good cholesterol levels while lowering blood fats.”

2. She battled lung cancer

Micucci has had her fair share of challenges, battling lung cancer mentally and physically. She went to social media, sharing a TikTok video in December, where she said, “hey everybody, this is not a TikTok, it’s a ‘sick tok. I’m in the hospital but it’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday.” Although facing challenges, she happily announced that “all of the reports came back that it worked, I don't need to do any other treatment."

3. She likes to bike

She posted herself riding her bike on social media, captioning it “2 weeks ago, a day before I went in for lung cancer surgery, I was kinda silently freaking out. So to help get my mind off things I called my friends and we made this video for Christmas. It’s for the sped up version You Got A Bike and I think it turned out to be pretty joyful. Thanks to @rawbean720 and @caitlin.gerard for being there for me. I hope this video puts a smile on your face this holiday season. ❤️,” she said. According to the Cleveland Clinic, “cycling is often recommended as a low-impact and engaging workout for people of all ages. It’s an aerobic exercise and helps strengthen your heart, blood vessels and lungs.”

4. She skates

Skateboarding not only looks cool, but is a great workout. “Skate swing made by my dad,” she said on Instagram. Even in the skate swing, she’s challenging her core. Swing aside, she enjoys skateboarding, now with her kiddo! “Skateboarding with my 4 year old. 🛹” she said. That’s a great form of exercise and a way to get outside.

5. She focuses on art

Creating art can be a really comforting outlet. “Friends making art together! @melissavcomedy,” she said on Instagram. According to the Cleveland Clinic, “it comforts, elevates the spirit, and affirms life and hope. Art in the healthcare setting, combined with outstanding care and service, creates an ambience that encourages healing and supports the work of medical professionals.”
