Bailey shared some photos on Instagram of herself in the pool. She wore a magenta swimsuit, looking gorgeous, Bailey captioned the post, "I was born free." How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Halle Bailey stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
She Works With A Trainer
Bailey worked with trainer Sana Shirvani to help her prepare for The Little Mermaid. The Australian Institute of Fitness states that working with a fitness professional has a lot of benefits. "Your personal trainer will be able to help you become further educated on how your nutrition plays a role in your fitness journey, what exercises target which muscles, the correct exercise form and so much more. Being able to turn to a fitness professional for any questions you have rather than turning to Google will result in detailed, educated and personalised answers that will help you succeed."
She Keeps Her Skincare Simple
Bailey and her sister Chloe opened up about skincare to Harper's Bazaar. She says that she has made her skincare a lot more simpler over the years. "When I was younger and we were on tour, I would do way too much on my skin especially when I would have breakouts," she says. "I would get anxious like, 'I need to get this off my face now! Let me do a mask here, let me do a scrub here.' My skin is being nicer to me, and I keep it simple and I'm good."
She Uses Products That Don't Irritate Her
Bailey tells Harper's Bazaar that she chooses products that don't irritate her skin too much. She cites the Oily Skin Formula from Neutrogena as a favorite of hers. "What I really appreciate about it is that even though it's an exfoliant and there's acid in it, it still feels like I'm using the most fresh, natural thing. It doesn't irritate me in any way."
She Works Her Abs
Shirvani shared the actress' workout routine with Women's Health. "Core strength is very different to a visible set of abs. It was important for the cast to look the part, but also be able to film for hours on a rig. As the Mermaids have no legs, they are heavily relying on their core and back strength to hold them up. This required a huge amount of abdominal strength as well as a huge amount of strength through their back extensors."
She Goes Outside
Bailey makes time for herself, no matter how busy she gets. She shared her favorite self-care pastimes with Harper's Bazaar. "Being outside, being in the sun—those are always my safe places and when I feel the most grounded." The National Foundation For Cancer Research states that going outside has a lot of benefits. "Walking among the trees can lower blood pressure and reduce the stress-related hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Stress is an uncomfortable response to deal with, but it can be worse yet. Studies suggest that stress hormones may awaken dormant cancer cells that remain in the body after treatment, meaning there is a link between stress and cancer coming back. Additionally, cancer patients are more likely to experience stress in relation to their current situation. Reducing stress hormones can positively impact the quality of life for people diagnosed with cancer and their families."
