Alica Schmidt is a renowned track and field athlete, representing the German national team in both solo and relay events. She’s earned accolades, including a championship with her team, and her dedication to her sport is evident in every aspect of her training. In a recent Instagram video, Schmidt gave her followers a behind-the-scenes look at her rhythmic drills over hurdles. Speaking to Women’s Health, Schmidt shared, “My coach has intensified the training significantly… At the beginning, it was a big change for me and I was exhausted almost every evening.” For Schmidt, pushing boundaries and constantly improving is the ultimate goal, as she strives to lower her personal best and achieve Olympic success.

1. She Trains Hard

Schmidt shared her training process in an interview with Women’s Health. “My coach has intensified the training significantly during this build-up phase and adapted it to each individual. At the beginning it was a big change for me and I was exhausted almost every evening. I've now got used to it. My next goals are to achieve very good placings in competitions, but what's even more important to me is to continue to lower my personal best - and of course to make it to the Olympics.”

2. She Recovers

Schmidt shared how she recovers from intense workouts in an interview with FoodSpring. “Since I train almost every day, it is essential for me to recover as quickly as possible. After training, I drink Recovery Aminos: They provide me with quickly available carbohydrates and my muscles with BCAAs after training. They are also super refreshing. For me, replenishing my energy reserves after training is a must. A shake or a banana are always at hand and help me to recharge my batteries immediately. When my muscles are under a lot of strain, I use the Lymphomat.”

3. She Builds Strength

Schmidt talked about her approach to exercising with Women’s Health. She says that she focuses on building her strength. “About 30 percent of my training is focused on strength. Explosive and functional full-body exercises are mostly on my schedule. It's super effective, I would recommend such workouts to everyone. I also focus on strengthening and tapping the leg muscles - the classic way is with squats and lunges.”

4. She Eats Healthy

Schmidt also talked about her diet with Women’s Health. “I eat intuitively and listen to the signals my body gives me. With exercise, you develop a very strong body awareness over time. I make sure that I eat a balanced diet and reduce my meat consumption. I would never leave the house without snacks. I always have a few protein bars, electrolytes and sometimes Tupperware containers with carrot cake or banana bread in my bag. Preparation is really important here too!”

5. She Takes Supplements

Organizer,For,Pills,,Vitamins,And,Dietary,Supplements,On,A,LightShutterstock

Schmidt shared what supplements she takes in her FoodSpring interview. “I regularly take Zinc & Magnesium and Daily Vitamins. They provide you with the most important vitamins without you having to think about it too much. This is particularly important because it is very important not to get sick, especially as an athlete. After strength training, I supply my body with proteins in the form of protein shakes. I use L-glutamine to improve my body's regeneration processes. Before hard sessions, I drink Energy Aminos, which supply my muscles with important BCAAs, among other things.”

Eilish McColgan is a successful track athlete. She has won a gold and a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games, two silvers and a bronze at the European Championships, and a bronze at the European Indoor Championships. McColgan recently shared a set of photos on Instagram of herself running. She captioned it, “A very good day at the oval office! 🔥💪Surprised myself yesterday with one of my best sessions in months... AND on day 1 of my cycle.”

She Runs

Running is one of the things that McColgan does to keep herself in shape. She shared this post on Instagram of herself running a marathon. She captioned it, “Last race of 2024 in the bag! 💰 (Race recap) Battled for 4th place today in what was by far the toughest race I've ever done! It took a LOT of mental strength to finish, with my legs hitting a brick wall around 18km... but it helped that I was catching and passing some of the other elite women who had started to suffer, too! Delhi was hit with a huge spike in humidity and pollution levels in the days leading into the race. The air was SO thick. Never experienced anything quite like it! 🤣 Breathing was already hard through the first 5km, which made it a long slog to the finish line. 🫁I decided very early on I was going to run on my own and at my own pace, letting the main pack go ahead. Trying to pick off as many people as I could over the 2nd half. I think someone said I was around 10th at halfway, but in all honesty, I didn't have a clue. I just kept trying to catch and pass the next person. I was actually pretty gutted to find out I was only a few seconds off the podium in the end!”

She Does Activation Exercises

McColgan shared some of her favorite activation exercises in this Instagram video. In it, she is seen doing things with resistance bands and exercises like pogo jumps and step ups. McColgan captioned it, “Here's some of my favourite activation exercises for endurance runners 🏋🏼♀️The winter months tend to be heavily focused on longer, slower endurance work, so I like to throw in some activation & conditioning work the evening before key interval sessions. 🔑It helps to keep my fast twitch muscles firing and stops me from getting too sluggish and heavy legged from all the additional running. 🏃🏼♀️💨”

She Hikes

McColgan likes to hike to keep herself in shape. She shared this post on Instagram of herself hiking in Vietnam. McColgan captioned it, “What a day in HaLong Bay! 😍🫶After eating our way around Hanoi, we headed out to 'sea' the sights... 😜Vietnam so far has been a dream. Can't believe we've waited this long to visit - it's certainly lived up to the hype!! 🇻🇳”

She Does Pool Exercises

McColgan likes to do pool exercises. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing things like high knees and squats in the water. McColgan captioned it, “Not your typical pool day! 😜 🏊♀️👙Training is a little different at the moment... Instead of running, we are spending time in the gym building strength and addressing weakness on my left side. The goal with rehab is to progress things gradually every week, and this pool session does just that - keeping my ligaments and tendons moving. I'll try to share more of my rehab videos over the next few weeks! 💪”

She Pushes Herself

McColgan makes sure to push herself when she trains. She talked about this in the caption of her Instagram post. “Female athletes have it touuuuugh.. so this is literally my biggest win of the year, as usually I run (and feel) absolutely pants. 💩But despite my legs feeling like two bricks, I somehow muscled out sub 5min mile pace (3:05km) for my final 2mile rep. Ooft it hurt. (And I've been on the sofa ever since! 😅).”

`

Jenneke also shared her diet secrets with Body & Soul. She shared her favorite breakfasts for training day. “It really depends on what my training day looks like, but if I’ve got training in the morning (which I often do at the moment) I’ll have cereal generally before I go out and train. Then, I actually love having a Milo after a hard session – it’s got good levels of protein and iron in it – and then I make myself a second breakfast, which could be muesli with yoghurt or bacon and eggs.”

3. She Dances

Jenneke likes to dance before a meet. "The dancing preparation is good," Jenneke said to The New Zealand Herald. "People see me doing a dance on the track and it's part of my enjoyment ... She Trains Consistently

Jenneke shared her training secrets with Body & Soul. She says that consistency is important. “I do three track sessions a week, and they can be from 2-3 hours each, which can be full on. You do some warm up, a hurdle session, and then a sprint session after that.”

Anna Ryzhykova is an accomplished track and field athlete with a career full of accolades, including a bronze medal in the 4x400 meter relay at the 2012 Olympics and multiple medals at the European Championships. Despite challenging conditions, Ryzhykova stays disciplined in her training. She recently shared an inspiring workout video on Instagram, captioned: “Every time I ask myself: why am I doing this? Cold, wind and understanding how hard it will be - suggest to stay home on the couch. And I remember what an awesome feeling after a workout, when discipline overcame desire!” From her intense workouts to healthy habits, here’s how she maintains her fitness and focus.

1. She Runs

In her Instagram video, Ryzhykova is seen running on the track. FloTrack states that running has a lot of health benefits. “Running and jogging is an aerobic exercise, and you’re working out both your heart and lungs while doing so. This will also lead to a lower resting heart rate, lower bad cholesterol in your blood and lower blood pressure. You don’t need to run an obscene amount of miles every day to get these benefits, either.”

2. She Strength Trains

Closeup,Image,Of,A,Woman,Sitting,At,Gym,With,Dumbbells, weight, weightsShutterstock

Ryzhykova is seen using a weight in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that weights have a lot of benefits. “Using maximal loads for compound (multi-joint) movements like the deadlift, squat-to-shoulder press, bent-over row or chest press can improve intermuscular coordination, which is the ability of many muscles to work together to generate and control high levels of force through multiple joints.”

3. She Does Squats

Anna RyzhykovaAnna Ryzhykova/Instagram

Ryzhykova is seen doing squats with a weight in her Instagram video. Squats are a great exercise to do. The Cleveland Clinic states, “Squats target and strengthen your thighs, hips and butt. Why does that matter? A strong lower body is important for athletes, yes, but not just for athletes. Your lower body fuels your ability to walk, run, jump … everything, really. It also generates power for upper-body movements and all kinds of other activities.”

4. She Uses A Foam Roller

Ryzhykova likes to use a foam roller to help her muscles recover. She shared this video on Instagram of herself using one. Ryzhykova captioned the post,“One simple habit that helps reduce the risk of injury! I can't imagine my warm-up without a massage roller — it's something that's always with me! I have been convinced for a long time that it really helps to prepare muscles for loads, relieve tension, and, by the way, research also confirms its effectiveness. A couple of minutes before and after training — and the body feels much lighter. Now there is a huge selection, so choose according to your taste and wallet. But I would advise smooth and light in weight. I have exactly one from @physiokit_ukraine. The main thing is not to be lazy, use it regularly, then it will definitely become a habit!”

5. She Loves Natural Juice

Ryzhykova makes sure to eat a healthy diet. One thing she likes is natural juices. Ryzhykova talked about this in the caption of this Instagram video. “When I want something tasty, I choose juice. Natural juices are a great alternative to sweets: they are not only tasty, but also useful. And on gloomy days, this liquid sun in a jar lifts the mood ☀️ Special thanks to Radishka 🍎🍏 for inspiring young people to a healthy lifestyle! This juice is real energy and pleasure 😋”

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Sophie Piper is embracing island life – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her fantastic figure in a swimsuit during a tropical vacation at Kandima Maldives with Josh Ritchie. “Island life,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps taken at the picturesque resort. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Doesn't Go Under the Knife

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Tammy Hembrow is a fitness influencer and expert. She has her own app, called Tammy Fit. Hembrow has a lot of challenges on her app. Recently, she advertised a challenge with a workout video on Instagram. Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. (Sign ups are still open if you haven’t joined yet - there’s still time to catch up!! - link in bio). Soooo happy seeing so many of my girlies (and guys) in this challenge doing it with me!! And I CANNOT wait to see everyone’s results at the end of the 8 weeks. We got thissss 💪🏼”

She Does Pulldowns

Hembrow is seen doing pulldowns in her Instagram video. Piedmont reports that pulldowns have a lot of benefits. “The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the latissimus dorsi muscle, the broadest muscle in your back. This muscle promotes good posture and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and reap the best results.”

She Lifts Weights

Tammy Hebrew is seen using dumbbells.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen doing a lot of exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”

She Loves Bananas

Tammy Hebrew has a banana snack.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen enjoying bananas in her “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. The Cleveland Clinic states that bananas have a lot of benefits. “A single medium-sized banana offers about 32 mg of the mineral magnesium, which fulfills around 8% to 10% of your daily magnesium requirement. Magnesium is involved in many processes in your body, including: Blood pressure. Blood sugar levels. Building proteins. Maintaining bone. Muscle function. Nerve function.”

She Loves Cottage Cheese

Tammy Hebrew's snack the contains banana and cottage cheese.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen enjoying her bananas with cottage cheese in the previous Instagram video. Cottage cheese is very healthy. UCLA Health reports, “Cottage cheese’s protein content and low calories make it an ideal food for weight management. Research shows that whether you are trying to lose weight or reduce your risk of overweight or obesity, eating a high-protein diet can help you feel full and satisfied for longer.”
