Stratus is in her 40s and shows no sign of slowing down—here’s how the fitness expert is living her best life.
Workout Routine
Stratus loves yoga and strength training. “Since I had the baby, my regular daily workout routine has consisted of 20 minutes of my signature yoga flow, which is a combination of strength-training exercises incorporated into a yoga flow, a few gym workout sessions here and there when I can drop off the baby at my mom’s house, and loads of squats,” she told YorkRegion.com. “Also key to getting in shape is eating well. At this point in my life, I’m in maintenance mode. However, when the WWE calls and asks you to make a comeback, you know you need to amp things up. I eat very clean anyway, but my diet got even cleaner — no snacks — and I incorporated things like increased protein and branched chain amino acids to support the intense training and muscle activation.”
Healthy Diet
Stratus keeps it simple when it comes to her diet. “There’s no hard formula,” she told YorkRegion.com. “I stick with whole foods and avoid processed foods, eating mostly lean protein, like chicken and fish, and lots of veggies, especially greens.”
Yoga and Wrestling
Stratus says yoga made her a better wrestler. "The wrestling schedule is really crazy," she told ESPN. "In the seven years that I wrestled, the only time I had off was for injuries -- a broken thumb, broken ankle, broken nose, herniated disk. I used to feel like it was a crazy pace with no time to think, but I went back after my back injury and, though it was the same crazy schedule, I was looking at it with different eyes. I appreciated what I was doing more. The last leg of my career was amazing. I didn't have the headaches from all the whiplash anymore, and the yoga I was doing gave me clarity, made me a better performer, made me recover faster and made me enjoy what I was doing more."
New Perspective
Stratus’s perspective on fitness has changed since becoming a mother. “I don’t obsess over it like I used to,” she told YorkRegion.com. “Now it’s about keeping up my fitness to give me energy to keep after these kiddies and to set an example. We try as a family to integrate fitness into our daily routine, doing things like taking walks, riding our bikes or having the kids do yoga with me.”
New Challenges
Stratus is always setting new goals for the future. "Whatever I'm doing, I want to be challenged," she told ESPN. "I want to hit new levels. I want to do something I've never done before in whatever world I'm in and then move on."
