Nicole Scherzinger, 43, is incredibly honest about her physical and mental health journey. Before she skyrocketed to Pussycat Dolls fame, the singer and dancer struggled with a severe eating disorder that almost derailed her wellbeing and career. In the years since, she has learned how to be the healthiest and happiest version of herself. Luckily, she is continually sharing her wisdom, tips, tricks, and secrets with her fans. Celebwell has compiled a list of her best tips on how to stay mentally and physically fit, and the photos that prove they work.

1. Make Smart Food Choices

Nicole believes in eating healthy—most of the time. “Don’t deprive yourself of anything because eventually you’ll crave it and then you might binge on it. Everything in moderation," she said to Women’s Health UK. "For breakfast I love eggs and toast and smoked salmon or bacon, or porridge. For lunch I like maybe some soup or some sushi. For dinner, anything from pasta to rice, and meats and veggies, to sushi. When I’m going to indulge, I love pasta, pizza, I love Mexican with lots of cheese. I love French fries, or crisps - salt and vinegar crisps. In terms of snacks: almonds, coconut water, bits of coconut, baby carrots."

2. Try Different Workouts

Nicole is all about mixing up her workouts, revealing to Women’s Health UK that she has a few go-tos. "In a typical workout I would run on the treadmill, maybe 20 mins, then try to do some squats, some sit-ups on the exercise ball, some yoga stretches. When I’m home I like to take a spinning class called Soul Cycle or I like to do hot yoga - a modified version of bikram yoga - or hiking, and core power yoga in LA." And of course, she dances! “I mean, I heard that dancing and laughing gives you better abs than crunches anyway,” she captioned a recent post.

3. Find a Workout Buddy

Need a little nudge to exercise? Enlist a workout buddy. "Me and my girlfriends support each other for the gym. Because, you know, it’s hard to be motivated sometimes, so when you go you push each other, - we try to do different things,” she told Women’s Health UK. "We’ll go hiking one day and then we’ll try a sculpting hot yoga class, then we’ll do a cardio. We just motivate each other."

4. Make Fitness Your Hobby

Sure, it’s important to get a solid workout in. But for Nicole, staying active is a lifestyle. Her social media is filled with snaps of all some of her favorite outdoor activities, which include hiking, surfing, and jogging on the beach.

5. Use Exercise to Destress

MTV EMAs 2019 - VIP ArrivalsJeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Nicole uses exercise to promote her mental health. “I travel so much it’s so important for me to sweat it out. It’s not only for physical being, but mostly for my mental well-being. It keeps me centered, focused, strong and helps me get in the right frame of mind for my work ahead. Preparation is key. Prepare yourself so when the opportunity comes, you are ready!” she wrote on Instagram.

Singer Nicole Scherzinger is 45 and in the best shape of her life in Mykonos, Greece. The 45-year-old star shared a fabulous video of herself frolicking in a crystal-clear swimming pool, wearing a blue bikini that emphasized her incredibly fit and toned physique. She even gave a slow motion hair flip in the water, much to the appreciation of her followers. “This view is absolutely gorgeous,” a fan commented. How does she look so fit? Here are 5 ways Scherzinger maintains her health and beauty.

1. Spinning and HIIT

Scherzinger keeps active by taking long walks and trying out a variety of different workouts. “I like to switch it up and try new things, but most recently, I’ve just been pretty consistent with more HIIT workouts,” she says. “I love doing everything from SoulCycle spinning and climbing to boxing and dance cardio. It’s really good to always keep your body guessing and to always switch it up.”

2. Lots of Protein

Scherzinger starts the day with plenty of protein-filled choices. "I love eggs and bread with a side of smoked salmon or some ham," she says. "If I have some frozen fruit laying around, I’ll make an oat milk smoothie. Sometimes I’ll put turmeric powder in it, which is delicious and anti-inflammatory." For a treat, she enjoys Cheetos and cake. "I love red velvet cake with cream cheese icing [or] carrot cake with cream cheese icing. I love muffins and cakes."

3. Hot Yoga

Scherzinger loves intense, sweaty workouts. “I love running and I love hot yoga,” she says. “I just love the sweat, I love that it pushes you in hot temperatures and I love the stretching side of it. Take care of yourself and do what makes you feel good. Eat the right food, exercise, workout, listen to music that puts you in a positive mood. Find time for prayer and meditation and make time for you – take a bath, go for a massage, workout, stretch…”

4. Self-Care and Wellness

Scherzinger swears by massages and cold showers for self-care. “I like a deep tissue massage by a strong woman!” she says. “And for a quick fix, hot yoga, a cold shower, and an espresso shot. I like working out as much as possible, as it helps to set my mind straight for the day. The endorphins are great. I'm also very much about eating what you want, within moderation. You've got to enjoy yourself, right?”

5. Diverse Beauty

Scherzinger is thrilled at how diverse the health and beauty industry has become. “Growing up was hard for me, I didn’t really fit in especially with my skin color. But now it’s a melting pot and everyone’s mixed,” she says. “I love how diverse it is. I didn’t think that my skin tone used to be matched by brands, but now brands like Armani and Dolce & Gabbana and YSL who were typically more light in tone now have more orange tones and the right pigment to suit my skin tone and other exotic skin tones as well. I’m really excited about it.”

2021 CMT Music Awards - Red CarpetGetty Images

Country darling Carrie Underwood ditched calorie counting and instead started keeping track of macros. “I would ‘fall off the wagon,’ then feel terrible and repeat the cycle,” she explained to Women’s Health about her struggles with trying to stay slim in her younger years, sometimes eating as few as 800 calories per day. “Your body is screaming ‘I need more calories. I need more carbs!’" The “wannabe vegan” works with nutritionist Cara Clark, focusing on maintaining a healthy balance of 25 percent protein, 45 percent carbs and 30 percent fat. "I love rules," she admitted to Women’s Health.

Jennifer Lopez has adapted her fitness regiment over the years. However, instead of working out more, she is smarter about her workouts. "In my 20s and 30s I used to work out but not like I do now. It's not that I work out more; I just work out harder and smarter,” she told InStyle. “And it doesn't take me as long as it did in the past. I do it more for my health than I do for looks, which is funny. When you do things for the right reasons, you actually look better!"

"I need someone telling me what to do, and I love being in a group environment because I'm very competitive, so it pushes me to work harder than I would if I was by myself." The 32-year-old is a devotee of The Dogpound, a hardcore boot camp style studio The Dogpound she regularly visits with her friends. "HOT GIRL SUMMER IN FULL EFFECT," the gym recently wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of sweating alongside GG Magree in an intense HIIT workout.

2020 AACTA Awards Presented by Foxtel | Television Ceremony

Working out and eating right are only part of the equation to weight loss, per actress Rebel Wilson, who lost a whopping 60 pounds in less than a year. While she majorly revamped her diet and embarked on a fitness routine, it was the work she did on the instead that helped her achieve her goals. "I think because I approached it from all areas ... the biggest thing that I haven't ever worked on was the emotional side, what I suffered from, I guess, as classical emotional eating … so I really worked on that side," she told Extra.

5. Rita Ora: Focus On Strength, Not Weight Loss

Instead of trying to lose weight or get to a certain clothing size, Rita Ora suggests putting your focus on getting stronger. You just have to be fit, healthy, and strong," she said. "I love my shape because it's curvy. I have thighs. I'm a size 28 in jeans. And that's an average, normal size. I'm proud that I'm normal."

6. Kate Hudson: Move a Little Every Day

I've been doing that since April and I've noticed enormous changes in my body."

He started off by setting her goal at 6,000 steps and then eventually upping it to 14,000. "It had to be more than just getting back from her baby weight, but how do I keep whatever I am doing now forever. That's why we are not a big fan of doing any extreme diet or radical forms of exercise,” he told E! about the weight loss strategy he developed for the star, which also included healthy eating, sleep, and full body workouts. “Woke up before all 3 kiddos to get my steps in and spend time with me, myself, and I. Move move move for your own mental health,” she captioned a 2020 Instagram post.

In terms of snacks: almonds, coconut water, bits of coconut, baby carrots."

2021 Billboard Music Awards - BackstageGetty Images

Gabrielle Union allows her workout routine to evolve. "As the workout phases come and go, I'll try everything," she previously told Women's Health. "Nothing, not one thing, has stuck. I've tried kickboxing, cardio barre, I've tried a SoulCycle class...I'm not a class person." In a 2019 Instagram post, she also revealed that her motivations for exercise are also evolving. “There are times I workout for a job or specific athletic goals but usually I workout to maintain my peace. Sometimes i grunt, grimace, scream...many times I've cried while training. I've cried due to frustration. I've cried from physical pain. Many times I've cried as my fears and anxiety leave my body. For me, I'm always working out my spirit and exercising my soul. This morning felt like the end of a week of taking Ls, but today I got up and reminded myself that even when I lose, I win because I'm committed to learning and evolving,” she wrote.

It can be followed by squat overhead presses [with dumbbells],” he says. Twelve reps of those can be followed by 12 squat jumps. “Then it could be a one minute run at medium intensity, just active recovery time. Then we start doing lunges with weights [holding a set of dumbbells]. Let’s say we do 16 – eight and eight – or 10 and 10 [reps]. Followed by jumping [forward] lunges. Go and run again, active recovery for one minute. Come back, repeat maybe three, four times.” Mascitti even posted the singer’s workouts on Instagram.

Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
