Olivia Dunne is a gymnast at Louisiana State University, famous for her prodigious talent. She came into the public eye in the past few years. She recently posted a photo from one of her gymnastic meets on Instagram. In it, she is seen doing a kick while lying down. She captioned the post, “Just kicking back relaxing.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Olivia Dunne stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She’s A Gymnast

Dunne is a gymnast, so naturally that is one of the ways she stays in shape. According to Beverly Hills Gymnastics, the sport has a lot of health benefits. “Gymnastics increases strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, and endurance. The utilization of so many muscles results in gymnasts being of the strongest of all athletes, in terms of total body strength. Gymnastics encourages athletes to move and flex their bodies in new ways, focusing on all muscle areas. Balance is necessary for almost every aspect of gymnastics, promoting excellent core strength.”

2. She Swims

Another thing Dunne likes to do to stay in shape is swim. She shares a lot of photos on Instagram of herself in the water. According to The Mayo Clinic, swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

3. She’s Found Balance

Dunne opened up about her rapid rise to fame in an interview with People. She says that she struggled to find balance, at first, but has learned to find it. “The past few years, juggling NIL or ever since my sophomore year, since the summer of 2021, I’ve definitely had a hard time finding balance. That’s really important because if you don’t have balance, that can affect your mental health. I finally feel like I got a grasp on it this year. It’s just compartmentalizing things mentally is very important in my everyday routine.”

4. She Speaks Out

Microphone,Over,The,Abstract,Blurred,Photo,Of,Conference,Hall,OrShutterstock

Dunne talked about her rise to fame in an interview with Today. She says that she is a little uncomfortable with people watching her. Dunne spoke out against this in her interview. “There are some people occasionally that do reach out, and it is a bit concerning. As a woman, you're not responsible for how a man looks at you and objectifies you. That's not a woman's responsibility.”

5. She Gets Her Vitamin D From the Sun

Vitamin D is crucial for overall health, supporting bone health, immune system function, and muscle recovery. For athletes like Dunne, the benefits are even more pronounced, aiding in muscle strength and reducing inflammation. Sunlight is a primary source of vitamin D, and spending time outdoors in the sun can significantly enhance an individual's vitamin D levels. This not only contributes to physical well-being but also improves mood and mental health, thanks to the natural light's effect on serotonin levels.

Olivia Dunne is one of the most well-known female gymnasts right now. She is pretty much an overnight success, who rose to fame on social media. Dunne is currently a student at Louisiana State University. And she’s currently enjoying a right of passage for every college student: Spring Break. However, Dunne is staying on campus, and enjoying Louisiana’s sunshine, as you can see from a recent post on her Instagram. She captioned it, “Makeshift Spring Break.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Olivia Dunne stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She’s A Gymnast

Being a gymnast is the main way Dunne keeps herself in shape. Gymnastics has a lot of benefits. Gymnasticsvictoria.org reports that the sport benefits flexibility. “A large amount of time is spent on improving flexibility in gymnastics training. For competitive gymnasts this means improving leaps and jumps. For recreational and adult gymnasts this is about improving the flexibility of muscle groups in order to prevent injury. The more flexible a person’s muscles are, the less likely they are to strain or tear a muscle completing everyday tasks.”

2. She Wants To Inspire Young Women

Dunne grew her following quickly. And she wants to use her platform for good. In 2021, she told The New York Post that she wants to inspire girls like her. “I want to be a role model to young girls and I think it’s really awesome that I am a female in this,” Dunne said. “I feel like most people expected [male] football and basketball players to get the biggest endorsement deals.”

3. She Wants To Help Others Pursue Their Dreams

Motivational,Quote,envision,What,You,Want,And,Persue,That,Dream.Shutterstock

In addition to inspiring young women, Dunne wants to encourage others to follow their dreams. Specifically, she wants to help people figure out how to grow their businesses from their passions. “I want to show you can do whatever you love,” she told People “Whether it’s gymnastics or music or painting — and capitalize on it and create your own business…There was no roadmap of how to do school, your athletics and social media all at the same time. There’s really no one that’s ever done it. “And I figured I could change that. I could pave the way and be a good example to young girls that look up to me.”

4. She Keeps Herself Safe

Dunne has attracted a large following. Unfortunately, having fans can be unsafe. Dunne once walked out to a lot of young men waiting outside her meet. She tells Today that she is working on keeping herself safe, and asking for more protection. “As a woman, you are not responsible for how a man looks at you and objectifies you. That’s not a woman’s responsibility.” Dunne says that her college has added some protective measures. “They gave us some new rules for us athletes just to keep us safe, to not go into the stands after meets, and we have a new security person that travels with us.”

5. She’s Dedicated

Being a gymnast takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Luckily, Dunne is determined to accomplish her dreams. She opened up about how she got to where she is now on the Today Show. “I pretty much sacrificed my summers,” Dunne admits. “Those pool days, those beach days with your friends. I was in the gym training.”

Red Carpet - Platino Awards 2017Carlos Alvarez/Getty Images

Palmiero is an avid dancer and has posted several videos on Instagram of herself busting a move. She even does dance inspired workouts, usually with the company Endorfin Dance. Dancing isn’t just a great way to get moving, it’s also good for your mental health. According to WebMD, “Dance is an effective type of exercise that raises your heart rate and works your muscles. Exercise can help with symptoms of depression and anxiety by releasing certain chemicals in your brain. It also provides a way to escape repetitive negative thoughts and worries. These are thoughts that run through your mind over and over.”

4. She Hits The Beach

Palmiero is a big fan of going to the beach to get her daily dose of Vitamin D. She has posted several photos of herself on Instagram enjoying a beach day.

5. She Loves Veggies

Palmiero is a big fan of eating vegetables, and cooking with them. She has shared several recipes with her followers on Instagram, one of which contains cooked cherry tomatoes with oil. Tomatoes are a great veggie to incorporate into your diet: they are "underrated powerhouses when it comes to nutritional benefits, and they don't get the superfood status they've surely earned," says our sister site Eat This, Not That!. "One of the reasons why we're such big fans of tomatoes is because eating them can result in one major side effect you can't really get by eating any other popular foods: fending off cellular-damaging free radicals thanks to tomatoes' high levels of lycopene, a powerful antioxidant."

Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
