Padma Lakshmi In Pink Bikini Celebrates Her 55th Birthday

The TV host enjoyed a beach day on Instagram.

Happy birthday to Padma Lakshmi! The Top Chef and Taste The Nation host just turned 55 this week. But from looking at her, Padma doesn’t look a day over 30, and her recent Instagram post proves it. Padma shared a photo and video of herself wading in the ocean. She wore a hot pink bikini, showing off her amazing abs and legs. Padma captioned the post, “I’m so grateful for this last year around the sun. It’s been productive professionally and also very moving to watch #Littlehands start high school and continue to blossom. I’m so grateful that all of you have joined and supported me on this roller-coaster ride.” Here are 5 of the secrets behind Padma Lakshmi’s good looks at 55.

Padma knows her food, and she makes sure to eat a healthy diet. She broke down her typical meals with EatingWell, and revealed there’s one food she incorporates in her breakfast and lunch. “I guess I eat a lot of yogurt,” Padma says. “It helps calm my tummy with spicy food. It also just makes me feel good. I think it’s nice to have a little bit with every meal, or most meals, if you can.”

Padma shared some of her favorite workouts in an interview with Women’s Health. In it, she talked about the impact Pilates classes have had on her body. “Pilates changed my body. It made me strong in places I didn’t know I needed to be. I have a butt now that I didn’t have during my modeling career!”

Padma incorporates a lot of fresh produce in her diet. She tells EatingWell that she loves eating apples as a snack. “I love Honeycrisp apples; we get great ones from the Union Square market, especially this time of year. I will often just slice up an apple and have it with some peanut butter, that’s a great snack for me.”

Padma loves cooking healthy meals for herself and her daughter. “We cook one fresh meal a day in our home, and that’s usually dinner,” she says in her Women’s Health. “I purposely cook extra so I will have enough for lunch.” Padma also says that she hopes her daughter inherits her love of cooking. “I want to pass down more than just heritage and culture—also how to live ethically, and be kind and fair and detail-oriented. There are metaphors for life that you can find in the act of cooking.”

She Loves Squash

One of Padma’s favorite vegetables is squash. She tells EatingWell that she uses squash in a lot of her recipes. “I know everybody is into toasts, like avocado toast, but I’ve done a variation of one with butternut squash, and it’s amazing. Squash is great this time of year, and so I’ve been cooking up a lot of butternut squash and honeynut squash. It’s so easy: all you do is roast it with olive oil and a little salt and pepper. I’ll roast up a big squash in the oven, and then I’ll scrape it and keep the flesh in a Tupperware dish.”
