'White Lotus' Star Patrick Schwarzenegger Shakes up His Protein on & Offscreen

If you're a White Lotus fan, then Season 3 likely has you hooked. From the star-studded cast, to the beautiful scenery in Thailand, to the luxurious escape the White Lotus resort offers to all of its guests, this season is pure eye candy for the imagination—topped off with much drama and intrigue.
Although we dearly miss Tanya McQuoid (played by award-winning actress Jennifer Coolidge) in Season 3, thus far, viewers are getting a kick out of Saxon Ratliff (31-year-old Patrick Schwarzenegger). How do we describe Saxon? An incredibly pompous, cocky finance dude and big brother. He's living it up while vacationing in Koh Samui, Thailand with his parents and siblings. It seems like Saxon believes vacations are all about sex (or at least, attempting to get it!) and life is about drinking protein shakes.
Patrick Schwarzenegger's 'White Lotus' Protein Shakes Tasted "Like Pure Chalky Sand"
Saxon drinks protein drinks, but Schwarzenegger divulged to EatingWell that the protein-packed beverages the character consumes on White Lotus aren't the tastiest—which actually happened to be a good thing.
He whipped them up himself on set, and told the outlet, "It actually worked out really great for when Sam [Nivola] had to drink them because his character [Lochy] was supposed to hate them, and they actually did taste like pure chalky sand. So he would be drinking it and then my character would be like 'chug it, chug it, finish it.' And it would just be so gross for him. So that that part worked out."

IRL, the Actor Loves Protein Shakes and Smoothies
Now in case you're wondering if Schwarzenegger's a fan of protein drinks? "I am; I do like them. I love peanut butter and banana—and I like a banana with peanut butter as a pre-run fuel, but also I love a peanut butter banana smoothie," he said.

He Strives To Eat a Healthy Diet
When he's not on set playing his role as Saxon, Schwarzenegger maintains a healthy appetite and lifestyle. He recently shared his favorite meals and exercise habits with EatingWell.
"I try to eat well in the sense of eating healthy overall. I feel better when I'm eating healthier from a physical side, but also from a mental side, and I think that it's so important, especially when you're working and you have 13- to 14-hour days, or you're working through the night and you're trying to stay focused. I try to eat really high in protein and lower in sugar," the actor shared.
That doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy his favorite cheat meals like the rest of us.
Schwarzenegger told the outlet, "My favorite breakfast is banana pancakes. I love banana pancakes, or a breakfast burrito, or both together, that sounds good. And a coffee, a strong, strong cold brew coffee. That sounds like a really great morning. For lunch, maybe some Italian or sushi. For dinner I'd probably do a really big steak and some mashed potatoes, just a full-blown American meal and have a nice dessert of banana pudding or a banana cream pie."
He Walks, Runs, and Lifts Weights
After breakfast, the actor grabs a coffee with his fiancée, model Abby Champion, every single morning. "We go all the way down to the beach to do our little prayers and gratitude list down there," Schwarzenegger shared.
When it comes to fitness, he makes cardio a priority. "I like running, I like walking … I like making sure I hit 10,000 steps every day. It drives me crazy when I'm on set and they take my Apple Watch away and I don't know how many steps I've taken. And then when they give it back and it's at like 200 steps, I have to go and walk on the treadmill or somewhere outside."

Schwarzenegger doesn't skip out on weights, either. (Which should be no surprise, as his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a total muscular icon.)
"I try to do weightlifting, strength training and other forms of exercising as well. I have done Pilates a couple of times with my fiancée. She'll drag me there, and I'll laugh at how easy it is until my legs are shaking because we're doing some sort of movement that I've never done before. I try to continuously switch it up and move around," Schwarzenegger said.
