Rachel DeMita is a beloved former basketball player who is now a "courtside commentator" for BIG3. And she's keeping busy, currently hosting the sports podcast, Courtside Clubs. DeMita shared a set of photos on Instagram in May of herself hiking. In it, she wore a tan top and white shorts, while she walked by a river. 1. She Plays Basketball
DeMita still plays basketball. She shares a lot of videos on Instagram of herself on the court. DeMita shared this video of herself shooting a basket over a tennis net. 2. She Swims
DeMita spends a lot of time outside. One thing she likes to do is go swimming. In the first photo of this Instagram post, DeMita is seen in a pool. 3. She Surfs
Swimming isn’t the only thing DeMita likes to do in the water. She also loves to go surfing. In a video and photo of the previous Instagram post, she went surfing in a lake. In this highlight reel, she is also seen surfing. Better Health reports that surfing has a lot of benefits. “Surfing provides many health benefits including: cardiovascular fitness – from paddling, shoulder and back strength – these muscles will strengthen from the paddling, leg and core strength – once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up.”
4. She Golfs
DeMita likes to go golfing. She shared this photo and video on Instagram of herself on the golf course. Better Health states that golf has a lot of benefits. “Golf can be good for your health and your heart. Walking an average course for a round of golf can be between five to seven kilometres. If you walk 18 holes three to five times a week, you’ll get an optimal amount of endurance exercise for your heart. If you pull your clubs or carry them, you’ll burn even more calories each round and benefit even more.”
5. She Hikes
DeMita likes to go on hikes, as you can see from her Instagram post. Piedmont reports that hiking has a lot of benefits. “Like most cardio exercises, hiking helps reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even some cancers. Hiking is a weight-bearing exercise, which builds muscle mass and helps prevent osteoporosis.”
