Shows like Yellowstone, 1923, and 1883 are putting cowboys center stage—and fans can't seem to get enough of it. Netflix is jumping on the bandwagon, too, with its upcoming romantic-filled drama series, Ransom Canyon, which is set to premiere on April 17. The show stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly and portrays three ranching families who live in Texas Hill Country. It's based on the series of novels written by Jodi Thomas and will include 10, 60-minute episodes.

April Blair Created, Wrote, and Executive Produced Ransom Canyon

April Blair is no stranger to TV. She previously worked on football drama All American and Netflix series Wednesday.

Blair chatted about the upcoming Western drama with Tudum, saying, "At its core, Ransom Canyon isn't just a town. It's an idea. It's the painful longing for your first love. It's the burning desire to protect your family. It's cowboys and lovers, grifters and thieves. Lust, deceit, heartache, home … Ransom has it all. I think people are going to fall in love with this little slice of Texas and the dramas and romances that we created there."

In the series, Josh Duhamel takes on the role of Staten Kirkland, owner of Double K Ranch. He seeks to protect his land from outside forces. Minka Kelly takes on the role of former concert pianist and lavender farmer Quinn O'Grady, who returns to Ransom Canyon from New York. According to Tudum, Staten will duel with Eoin Macken's character, Davis Collins (owner of Bar W Ranch), over both land and Quinn's affections.

The teaser trailer includes a voiceover from Duhamel's character, Staten, saying, "This place, it gives us all something to be happy about."
