Rickea Jackson is a rookie in the WNBA. She is currently playing for the Los Angeles Sparks. A couple of weeks ago, she shared some photos of herself on the court. Jackson wore a white workout shirt, black workout pants, and a black and white headband. Jackson captioned the post, “Two.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Rickea Jackson stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
1. She Plays Basketball
Jackson plays basketball to keep herself in shape. Fitness Advisory states that basketball can help with muscle strength. “Basketball requires you to jump while playing, as well as running back and forth multiple times. In a basketball game, you rely on your body positioning and the ability to maintain that position when an opponent is pushing against you. This is why playing basketball can strengthen all parts of your body, especially your core muscles, neck, lower back, and arms.”
2. She Has Support
Jackson has a lot of support from her family. She tells Inside the Wubble that this helps with her basketball. “I just want to make them proud and they're always there for me. so you know I'm just always trying to be there for the kids back in the city and you know give them back to the community and things like that. I've been getting a lot of support from this and from my family and friends. My family knows that this transition hasn't been the easiest so they're always there for me. I'm an introvert, I'm a homebody, so they know a little I love you text is all I need to keep pushing.”
3. She Doesn’t Quit
Jackson doesn’t believe in quitting. She talked about her career in an interview with Knox News. After her coach left after freshman year, people expected Jackson to quit. She told her godmother, “If I quit now, I’m going to quit the rest of my life. If I stop now, I’m going to continue to stop. I have to see this through."

In an interview, Jackson revealed that her favorite meal is steak with broccoli and potatoes. ACE Fitness states that steak has some health benefits. “Meat provides complete, high-quality protein (roughly 7 grams per ounce). While most Americans consume enough protein; however several myths about high-protein consumption exist. For example, some believe that the body can only absorb about 40 grams of protein at once. While it is true that the effectiveness of a single dose of protein levels off around 30-40 grams, this does not mean the body cannot utilize more than 40 grams or that it will automatically convert to fat. Nor will a high-protein diet wreck your kidneys or leach calcium from the bones. Unless you have a preexisting condition (such as high blood pressure, diabetes or kidney disease) and your fluid intake is adequate, a high-protein diet will not overstress the kidneys. And it’s actually an overconsumption of phosphorus (such as phosphoric acid in colas), not protein, that has the greatest negative impact on bone health.”
5. She Eats Broccoli
As you can see in the interview, Jackson loves broccoli. The Cleveland Clinic states that broccoli has a lot of benefits. “Some of the beneficial substances in broccoli are somewhat unique to the Brassica family of vegetables. Broccoli provides nutrients that may: Reduce your risk of cancer. Help control blood sugar. Protect your gut. Boost immunity.”
