Ricki Lake In Workout Gear Is "Moving My Body Every Single Day"
Ricki Lake is still fit, focused, and happy after losing over 35 pounds. Lake, 55, shared pictures of herself wearing a dark shirt and straw hat, hiking in the sunshine with husband Ross Burningham. "Still going…. Strong. 💪 Moving my body every single day. Out in nature, rain or shine with my beloved Ross and Dolly. So grateful and proud to feel like I'm in the best shape of my life at 55 1/2. #allnatural #nofilter #selflove #happy #healthy ❤️," she captioned the post. Here's how Lake is thriving in her 50s.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Lake and Burningham started their weight loss journey together and kept each other motivated. "I feel the best I can remember feeling in my life," she told ABC News. I have this new marriage and I'm so blissfully happy with this amazing man, my perfect man. And if I pinpoint one thing that was not working in our lives, is that we were carrying this extra weight… It's been a commitment. You know, it's been a financial commitment. It's been a like, a time commitment," Lake said. "But it's awesome. Like, I'm just, I'm so happy and proud of us."
Keto and Intermittent Fasting
Lake says she and Burningham followed an intermittent fasting schedule and a keto diet to lose the weight. She also did Pilates and tracked her sleep. "This is a lifestyle change. I've made this my job. And it's become my joy," she told ABC News. "Like, I just, I love it. I think it's safe to say I'm in the best shape of my life. I say, 'This is what happy looks like.' This is really, I could cry. I'm so happy. I'm so happy."
Hiking Every Day
Lake says she had to change her mindset about what a healthy lifestyle means to her. "I think I have to keep this up. I mean, I don't know if I can keep up being physically this fit, but I'm going to hike every morning and be out in nature," she told Entertainment Tonight. "It's really a mindset."
She Has Fun
Lake wants to be strong and fit as she gets older with Burningham. "We found each other later in life, we're in our 50s. I'm 55. I want to feel as good as I possibly can for as long as I can," she told Entertainment Tonight. "And that involves daily exercise, mindfulness practice, good sleep, and having a lot of fun. Like, I have so much fun."
Determined and Tenacious
Burningham, who lost 40 pounds, credits his wife with having the determination to succeed. "She's tenacious," he told ABC News. "When she decides that she's gonna do something, she's all in and just goes after it. And it's inspiring."
