"It's a habit I've formed," she explains. "If I want stronger biceps, I do curls. If I want to be more optimistic, I look for the ways optimism presents itself in my life every day."

Roberts has a busy lifestyle, so she’s always looking for ways to unwind. She says to People that she limits her screen and electronic usage each morning. “I'm up at 3:30 a.m., and I have what my Grandma Sally called ‘quiet time.’ I don't turn on the TV, I don't reach for my phone. Someone told me recently that when you reach for your phone first thing in the morning, it's like having 100 people in your bedroom screaming at you.”
3. She Meditates

Roberts tells People that she likes to meditate each day. “When I start working every day on the air, it's like being shot out of a cannon. So I now meditate after the show too. It's a way to really settle myself: being mindful of my emotions, my feelings. I'm only recently willing to acknowledge fear and doubt. I say, ‘Okay, fear and doubt, you're in my body. You're visiting me. What is it? Why are you trying to get my attention?’ I acknowledge it and then move on.”
4. She Eats Healthy

Roberts shared some of her diet secrets with BET. She says that she changed her diet after being diagnosed with cancer, and is eating healthier. "I love pasta, but now I'm eating chickpea pasta because I had to cut back on wheat. I'm Southern, we would fry water if we could, but it's a change and I've accepted it. I know that if I take better care of my physical being, it'll lessen the chances of the cancer returning."
5. She’s Motivated
Roberts is making her health a priority. She tells BET that having cancer has caused her to develop this mindset. “I know for myself, I look at my body differently. When you have been on the brink a couple of times, I make sure that my diet is better. I make sure that I exercise. Those things that I took for granted, I don't take for granted anymore."
