In a new social media post the Pretty Little Liars alums hit the Alo studio for a sweat session. “Starting the day off right,” she wrote on the Instagram Stories image. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.


1. PCOS

Sasha struggled with her weight at 17, gaining 70 pounds in a single year. "I went to 17 gynecologists," Pieterse told E Online about how she couldn’t figure out what was going on with her metabolism. "I finally went to an endocrinologist who took me seriously and was the one that told me about PCOS. I'd never heard about it before." She explains that "doing all the right things, or at least the ones that I thought were right," like doing lots of cardio and eating healthy greens, did nothing to address the sudden weight gain. "In fact, it was getting worse. I would do cardio and I would almost faint every time. I would go and throw up almost immediately after I ate something healthy."

2. High Protein, Low-Carb Diet

Sasha traded in her restrictive, low-fat diet for a high-protein, low-carb eating style that helped kickstart her metabolism and regulate her hormones.

3. Kayaking

Sasha loves going kayaking with her husband and son. “My favorite adventures are with my guys 🤙🏼 ,” she captioned an Instagram post. Kayaking is a great workout. Not only is it great for building upper body strength and helps reduce stress, but can burn up to 400 calories per hour, translating to 1,600 calories in four hours of paddling.

4. Dancing

Sasha lost 15 pounds while rehearsing with her Dancing with the Stars partner Gleb Savchenko. “Having Gleb as a partner. He’s amazing. But just the process in general — how hard we’re working and how healthy I feel. I really feel like myself again,” she told Us. Dancing is a great workout for many reasons. Not only does it build strength and promote flexibility, but helps you lose weight and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

5. Low Impact Workouts

"When I got my diagnosis, my doctor was like, okay, so you need to look at this differently," she said told E Online. One thing she did was change her approach to exercise, swapping out cardio-heavy sessions for low-impact workouts.

Hale is very open about her eating disorder battles in her teens "That's the only thing I could think of that started this obsession with movement," she said on the Diary of a CEO with Steven Barlett podcast. "And then I saw my body kind of change and then I started restricting eating, and then it became...it slowly just grew and grew to something that I could not enjoy life. I could not have a conversation. I could not focus on anything."

2. Pescatarian Diet

Lucy tries to stick to things that swim when it comes to her diet. “I mainly follow a pescatarian diet,” Lucy dished to People. “I don’t even like to say diet, just a pescatarian lifestyle. I don’t do dairy and I try to cut back on processed stuff. I typically like to prepare all my food so I know what I’m getting.”

3. Exercise for Mental Health

4. Surfing

Lucy also enjoys surfing. According to the Australian government’s Better Health, surfing provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say.

5. Pilates

“I just discovered Pilates. My butt has never been higher, and my abs have never been stronger. Our bodies are so amazing and resilient, and we don't give them enough credit. I spent much of my teen years and early 20s not loving my body and not being good to it. I'm trying to make up for that because we get only one body. We have to take care of our temple,” Lucy told Shape. Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

6. Strength Training

"I do a lot of strength training because I like to feel strong,” Lucy told Shape. I'm 5-foot-2, but I like to feel like a badass and to know that I could kick someone's ass. So I do pull-ups and do squats with the big-boy weights. I even flipped one of those big tires once.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. "I love Pilates on the tower or on the reformer just because it's quick and it feels like a proper workout,” she told HELLO!. “One of my best friends is a pilates instructor so get through the whole hour. I think that's why I love it so much because I just lie there, my legs in straps doing an exercise and we're chatting away so it's lovely, just a nice thing to go and do."

Redknapp likes to ride her stationary bike while watching TV. “I've got a Peloton at home,” she told HELLO!. “I watch Love Island and go for a bike ride in the lounge, [people] must be looking [at me] like 'what was she doing?' If I've got a night in, I get on the Peloton, bike ride, do a few situps, then I'm done.”

Redknapp credits her preference for a natural look for her glowing skin. “I think it has something to do with the make-up I wear and the products I put on my skin,” she told Women’s Fitness. “I have always used quite a dewy base on my face which perhaps gives it a slight shine. Redknapp is not always motivated to work out. “If someone said to me, 'do you want to meet for a drink and a bit of dinner on Tuesday night or go to the gym?' I mean, I'm always going to meet my mate for dinner,” she told HELLO!. “The gym is not at the front of my priorities. I'm not a big gym bunny… I'd love to do yoga but after about three minutes I start thinking about all the other things I should be doing rather than sitting in this position and thinking I haven't got time for this today.”

Hale has amazing skin, and it is important for her to take care of it. She tells Shape that she has simplified her routine. “For my skin care, I've had to simplify it. The older I get, the more sensitive my skin is — which was so devastating to me because I'm a beauty products hoarder. I love a 20-step skin-care routine, but I can't do it anymore because my skin goes absolutely bananas. Now my morning routine is a gentle cleanser and a toner, and then I mix my vitamin C drops into my moisturizer. And then sunscreen."

I call it intuitive eating. If I'm craving chicken, I'll have chicken. If my body is saying, 'Don't reach for the doughnut,' I don't reach for the doughnut. If my body is saying, 'You deserve a doughnut,' then I'll do it. But I'll never give up coffee. I'll never give up my lattes or bread. There was a phase in my life when I didn't eat bread. What the hell was I thinking?"

Hale makes sure to workout every day, even if it’s only for a bit. "I'm one of the weirdos in the world that genuinely likes working out, not from a physical perspective, more from a mental aspect,” she tells Beauty Crew. “It's a daily part of what I do. 2. Find Outdoor Activities You Love
