Serena Williams in Swimsuit Says “Schools Out”

Serena Williams is making a splash on social media in a Cupshe swimsuit. In a new Instagram post, the mother of two celebrates the end of the school year in the pool. “Schools out … it’s summer and swimsuit season … hope you are ready!” she captioned the swimsuit snap. “You look AMAZING,” commented one of her followers. “Gorgeous !” added another. How does the tennis star approach diet and fitness? Here is everything you need to know about her approach.
She Fuels Her Body with Food
Serena is all about viewing food as fuel. “My philosophy is eat to live. Don’t live to eat,” Serena told Women’s Health. “You need it to survive. And [that’s] very hard to live by, cause I definitely love to snack, but this is what I want. These are my goals.” She is also moody when it comes to food. “I can have a smoothie for six months. And then I’ll be like, I never want to see a smoothie again for the next six months. And then I’ll be like, okay, I’m back on the smoothie. My eating is very moody.”
She Exercises on an Empty Stomach
Serena is a fan of fasted exercise. “I often don’t make breakfast because I just forget or I’m running around getting Olympia ready. And then I go work out,” she told Women’s Health. “When I roll out of bed, I’m just not hungry.”
Healthy Diet
Serena is very specific about her eating habits. “I want to have a healthy lifestyle and, so you know, [I’m eating] a lot of greens and mostly plant-based lately, just super healthy stuff,” she told Women’s Health. “I had a bean burger the other day today…[Today] I had a gluten-free bean burrito.”Complex carbs are fuel for exercise, says Serena. “The only time I eat pasta is when I’m playing/training. Usually, you’ll never see me eating pasta otherwise,” she told Women’s Health. “I usually like to have lots of greens before my match and then fruit actually, and a little carbs and some sort of a protein.”Serena endorses the occasional cheat meal. “I love Moon Pies. If ‘Moon Pie’ sponsored me, I’d be bigger than any house on this planet!” she joked to Women’s Health.
She Hikes
Serena enjoys hiking. “When someone tells you to “go take a hike …” she captioned a recent Instagram snap. “Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail you find yourself on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between,” says the National Parks Service. Some of the physical benefits include building stronger muscles and bones, improving balance, enhancing heart health, and reducing the risk of specific respiratory issues. It also offers numerous mental health benefits, according to a study by Stanford University.
She Does Pilates
“LISTEN – I stay on ‘ready set’ in case I have to RUN 🏃🏿♀️ and grab baby @adiraohanian …. But until then – burn inner thighs, BURN,” Serena captioned a recent workout clip, set to the tune Eye of the Tiger. In a 2010 interview with Vogue, Serena discussed why she does Pilates. “When I’m not playing tennis, I like to do yoga and Pilates…I don’t like to run,” she revealed.
