Alisha Wainwright is a very successful actress. She’s best known for her role on the TV series, Shadowhunters. In June, Wainwright shared a video of herself rock climbing in the gym on Instagram. She captioned the post, “Look at us goooo! Not pictured but very much part of the hype crew @couttsemily @flavy_climbs.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Alisha Wainwright stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Rock Climbs

As you can see from her Instagram post, Wainwright likes to rock climb to stay fit. Medical Aid states that climbing has a lot of benefits. “Climbing isn’t easy. It takes strength and perseverance to scale a rock face. But this is the beauty of it. Rock climbing trains you to push past your physical and psychological limits. Not only does it set you up for successful climbs in the future, it gives you the tools to tackle other challenges in life. If you can handle rock climbing, the rest should be a cakewalk!”

2. She Lifts Weights

Wainwright shared this video of a day in her life on her YouTube channel. In it, she is seen hitting the gym. Wainwright uses weights in a lot of her exercises. In it, she does deadlifts, throws a ball, and does squats with weights. ACE Fitness states that lifting weights has a lot of benefits. “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

3. She Does Squats

Wainwright is also seen doing squats in her YouTube video. ACE Fitness states that squats are a great exercise to do. “Squats can work wonders for your strength, flexibility, physique and power. This multijoint movement engages the glutes, hamstrings, quad, back and core, making it a great total-body exercise.”

4. She Jogs

Wainwright is seen jogging for a half mile on the treadmill to warm up in her YouTube video. Better Health states that jogging has a lot of health benefits. “Regular running or jogging offers many health benefits. Running can: help to build strong bones, as it is a weight bearing exercise, strengthen muscles, improve cardiovascular fitness, burn plenty of kilojoules, help maintain a healthy weight. Both running and jogging are forms of aerobic exercise. Aerobic means 'with oxygen' – the term 'aerobic exercise' means any physical activity that produces energy by combining oxygen with blood glucose or body fat.”

5. She Cooks

Wainwright is seen baking in her YouTube video. Cooking and baking your own food has a lot of health benefits. Harvard Health reports that doing this can help you eat better. “The more people cook at home, the healthier their diet, the fewer calories they consume, and the less likely they are to be obese or develop type 2 diabetes. A growing body of scientific evidence supports teaching patients how to cook meals at home as an effective medical intervention for improving diet quality, weight loss, and diabetes prevention.”
