Indian actress Shama Sikander is spreading love and light on a visit to the beach. Sikander, 42, shared a snap of herself posing in the sand in a hot-pink bikini, with gold earrings and a pair of white sunglasses completing her summery look. “Did someone say you be the next 🐍😛,” she captioned the post. “Gorgeous,” an admiring fan commented. Sikander’s job is to be camera-ready—so how does she do it? Here are 5 ways the star stays fit and beautiful.

1. Running and Stretching

Sikander goes running every day, and makes sure to moisturize afterwards. “I work out a lot and make sure that I don't skip my daily jogging sessions,” she says. “I also do a lot of stretching. When you lose weight considerably, there are chances of getting stretch marks. Try and put on a good body lotion after a bath. This can help to a certain extent.”

2. No Oily Food

Sikander avoids oily, processed foods, preferring to stick to healthy fruits and vegetables. “I always avoid eating oily food,” she says. “For the summers I prefer to have lots of fresh fruit juices. My personal favorites are orange and watermelon juices.”

3. DIY Beauty

Sikander uses basic kitchen ingredients to make at-home hair masks. "I also use a mixture of egg white, yogurt and coconut oil as a hair mask,” she says. “I recently discovered this DIY mask and it gives great results. My hair becomes smoother and healthier. For a quick pick-me-up, I love to just apply a mix of a little honey and few a drops of lemon on my face for an instant hydration boost."

4. Beautiful Skin

Sikander swears by sunscreen and face masks for beautiful skin. "I never skip applying a sunscreen in the morning and at night I repeat the whole ritual except this time I apply the night cream," she says. "Once a week, I also like to apply a glow or hydrating mask by glam glow or a night watermelon mask by Glow recipe. I also try out some homemade beauty recipes like the haldi, ataa and ubtan scrub that is usually applied during weddings. My mom adds some almond oil and crushed nuts into it with some chandan powder. It smells delicious and gives amazing results! I apply it all over my body or concerned areas leave it for five minutes and then scrub it off!"

5. Regular Self-Care

Sikander never skips her self-care treatments. “Manicure and pedicure are a must for me every fifteen days,” she says. “No look is complete without attractive hands and feet. I use a suntan lotion on my feet whenever I'm wearing chappals during summers. I prefer not using any makeup when I'm not shooting. Before going out, I apply translucent powder on my face along with kajal and a lip gloss. A cooling moisturizer is a must everyday.”

1. She Dances

Sikander is a fan of dancing, and has posted a lot of photos and videos on social media of herself busting a move. Sikander posted this reel on Instagram of herself dancing to a Bollywood track. Dancing is great for the body. "During aerobic activity, you repeatedly move large muscles in your arms, legs and hips. You'll notice your body's responses quickly," reports the Mayo Clinic. "You'll breathe faster and more deeply. This maximizes the amount of oxygen in your blood. Your heart will beat faster, which increases blood flow to your muscles and back to your lungs. Your small blood vessels (capillaries) will widen to deliver more oxygen to your muscles and carry away waste products, such as carbon dioxide and lactic acid."

2. She Changes Her Eating Habits To Focus On Different Things

Mumbai Celebrity SightingsMilind Shelte/Getty Images

In a video revealing what she eats in a day, Sikander says that she likes to switch up her diet. She explains that her diet changes depending on what she wants to improve or focus on. “Right now I’m focusing on good health, because I had some health issues in the last year,” she says.

3. She Has Gaps Between Eating

Entertainment India DecemberProdip Guha/Getty Images

In the same video, Sikander revealed that she likes to have gaps between her eating times. She says, “Giving gap is very very important.” "Intermittent fasting means that you don't eat for a period of time each day or week. Some popular approaches to intermittent fasting include:

  • Alternate-day fasting. Eat a normal diet one day and either completely fast or have one small meal (less than 500 calories) the next day.
  • 5:2 fasting. Eat a normal diet five days a week and fast two days a week.
  • Daily time-restricted fasting. Eat normally but only within an eight-hour window each day. For example, skip breakfast but eat lunch around noon and dinner by 8 p.m.," says the Mayo Clinic.

4. She Avoids Dry Nuts

1. She Loves Kickboxing

Sikander loves to mix up her workouts, incorporating both high and low intensity exercises. “I do kickboxing, an hour and a half of weight training and an hour of spinning every alternate day,” she says. “And I still have energy left in me, I walk for about half an hour! That constitutes my fitness regime.” Kickboxing is a great full-body workout, experts say. “There’s a physical element of fighting back against things that weigh you down in life,” says Brooke Budke, vice president of marketing for Title Boxing Club. “When the company also questions their clients about why they stick with kickboxing, one-third of members say it’s the stress relief. The biggest thing we hear is that people feel empowered—they consider kickboxing their therapy. They’re fighting for their mental strength, happiness, anxiety and just a release. So, people feel good during the workout, but they also feel amazing after, and throughout the day and week. You’re basically on a boxing high.”

2. She Knows When To Relax

Sikander enjoys regular massages and spa visits. “I just love going to spas and indulging myself in massages at least once a week,” she says. “Sleeping for me is another great way to relax. Listening to soft music helps me unwind after a hard day’s work. Traveling is another passion that always rejuvenates me!”

3. She Puts Cardamom In her Tea

Sikander starts the day with tea, and loves to add cardamom to her brew. Cardamom offers a wealth of health benefits, experts say. “Cardamom is a good source of vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc, and it is also a very good source of dietary fiber, iron and manganese,” says Laura Jeffers, MEd, RD, LD.

4. She Loves a Healthy Breakfast

Sikander enjoys a bowl of oats (no milk), and an egg while omelet with olives and avocados for breakfast. “Olives are rich in plant compounds called polyphenols which have effective antioxidant properties,” says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. “The beneficial effects of these compounds include reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as atherosclerosis and cancer. Olives are one of the most popular fermented foods, by consuming such foods you are adding beneficial bacteria and enzymes to your intestinal flora, which increases the health of your gut microbiome and digestive system and may enhance your immune function.”

5. She Has Cheat Meals

Sikander enjoys a healthy diet, but definitely has some indulgences now and then. “I love ice cream, I also love pizza, but I like to stay away from gluten nowadays so I prefer a gluten-free pizza,” she says. “And if my mom has cooked some yummy food (because she's an amazing cook) I'll have that. I love Italian, Moroccan food, Turkish food, Greek food, home food.... all these are my most favorite cuisines!”

Lifting Weights

Bianca spends hours at the gym where she focuses on strength training along with endurance, cardio, reaction time, and reflexes. “You know, to be a driver, it’s a complete package. It takes strength. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes post-sport recovery.

Working On Self-Esteem

Positive self-talk is also important. “Of course, I put a lot of pressure on myself, but in the end, I always tell myself that as long as I give my best and I learn from it, any mistake I make is valid,” Bianca explained. “I always try to repeat that to myself that I am valid. I’m here for a reason and there’s nothing I would rather do than be here.”

Romani has her own charity, Help Miami Cats. She talked about how she started this in the caption of this Instagram post. “❤️ Guys!!!! I have always loved cats and had many growing up. When I moved to Miami Beach I met a great calico named Chacha and learnt that cats were brought to the city by Mayor Lummus … against rodents. Cats rely on volunteers for their food and water and there’s a huge amount of them. There’s a city program to Spay and neuter with the wonderful @sobecats ladies and the feeding is made official by a City Sanctioned badge, yet new cats keep getting dumped daily sadly and there’s a never ending amount of work, emergencies and so on. I was on a feeding rotation but during the pandemic I was left alone caring for so many as people left town or couldn’t afford feeding anymore …I decided to start my own non profit @helpmiamicats . We feed close to 200 and when Batman got paralyzed took him and other special needs cats under my care … @stevensachs69 with the cat room and the amazing people involved devote their lives to these special souls … My life has changed a lot too … way less spare time, way more sweat and tears and lost the person I had by my side who had sadly other priorities … yet gained so much love from these lovely creatures !!! If you can please get involved in any way … follow @helpmiamicats , share, volunteer, adopt … donate … Only together we can make their world a better place !!! And yes … just me feeding the kitties and talking to them … 🤷🏻♀️👀😆❤️🙌”
