Sharlene Mawdsley is a track and field athlete. She typically competes in 400 metres events. Mawdsley won a bronze in the World Athletics Relays, and a gold and silver in the European Championships. She recently shared some highlights on Instagram. In them, Mawdsley is seen running, hiking, enjoying a pool day, and at a coffee shop. She captioned the post, âTraining camp dump no. 1.â
She Runs
Running is the main way Mawdsley stays fit. FloTrack reports that running has a lot of health benefits. âRunning and jogging is an aerobic exercise, and youâre working out both your heart and lungs while doing so. This will also lead to a lower resting heart rate, lower bad cholesterol in your blood and lower blood pressure. You donât need to run an obscene amount of miles every day to get these benefits, either. Those who just run a couple of minutes a day decrease their risk of cardiovascular death by 58 percent. If you have a hard time running, you can still give your heart a workout by jogging or walking.â
She Hikes

Mawdsley is also seen hiking in her Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking has a lot of benefits. ââNavigating a winding, wooded trail can help your body build endurance, strength, and coordination,â says Dr. Edward Phillips, assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. âHiking over uneven terrain requires more energy than walking on a level surface, so it burns more calories. If you are hiking uphill, your body has to work even harder,â he says. A rigorous hike may offer many of the same physical benefits as interval training, which alternates low- and high-intensity exercise to increase cardiovascular fitness. During a hike, your heart rate goes up as you move up an incline and drops when you head downhill.â
She's Focused
In an interview with Image, Mawdsley talked about the importance of being focused. âTake a moment to remember all of the work youâve done to get to where you are,â she advised to others. âBe present and focus. Remember that life is short and that this moment wonât define the rest of your life. You are in control.â
She Works Hard

Mawdsley makes sure to work hard. She talked about this in her Image interview. âPlanning is crucial, but the reality is there are a lot of sacrifices to be made in what I do. I always make time to prioritise my friends and family on rest days or during meals. But the other side is that Iâve missed out on family events because of the demands of training and competing.â
She Works With A Trainer
Mawdsley works with trainer, Tony Lester, to help her train. She talked about her decision to train with him in her Image interview. âI had given myself three years of putting everything I had into running even though I knew it wasnât 100%. I still knew I had so much room to improve. So after the Olympics, when the motivation was low, I sought what would be the best decision for me. It was a really hard decision to make the move, because it affected quite a big part of my life, but I knew if I didnât make the change I would always wonder âwhat ifâ. After a brief encounter with Tony in Paris, I knew it was the right move for me.â
