1. She Took Drastic Measures to Slim Down for Love Island

Shaughna went to drastic measures to lose weight for the show, sharing about it in a 17-minute video on her YouTube channel. She wouldn’t allow herself to eat treats over the 2019 Christmas period and asked her colleague to "shame" her every time she tried to. “I think for me and the series that I was in, we had it the hardest... because the casting process was over Christmas,” she said. “Everyone and anyone indulges, but because we knew we were potentially going into the villa, I for one did not have one Quality Street that whole Christmas season... Now, that was a bad Christmas.”

2. She Worked Out 90 Minutes Every Night

She went to the gym for 90 minutes every evening and her routine was “very, very strict,” she said. “I would do 20 to 25 minutes on the treadmill very fast at a high incline. I would do a few sets on the lat pulldown machine... and then I used to do a quick circuit on the mats. I used to use like free weights and stuff and that would literally be it every single day.”

3. Working Out Makes Her Feel Better

What motivates her to stay in shape? “Honestly? I become an anxious mess if I don't work out. It sounds cliche, and everyone always says, ‘Oh when you work out you feel better,’ but it’s actually true,” she told Bustle.

Shaughna launched her own fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle plan, Be You With Shaughna. “No before and after shots. No guaranteed ‘drop a dress size’ promises. No get fit quick plan,” she writes. “What my plan does include? Dedicated work to improve your mental health. Workouts that go at your pace. Nutritional advice aimed at encouraging your relationship with food, and not how to restrict your food.”

5. She’s an “Early Bird”

“I've always been an early bird. Ever since I was little, I've just always been up literally before the sun,” Shaughna told Bustle. “I don't like being rushed in the morning, so although I could probably easily get another hour in bed, I would rather just get up and start waking up gradually. These days, my normal morning routine starts at 6 a.m. I get up, make my breakfast, and have a cup of coffee, or tea, depending on my mood. I watch a little bit of TV before I head to workout at 8:30 a.m. I like to get it done and dusted because that way it means nothing like social media can impact my workout.”

6. She Takes Baths

“I'm definitely a bath girl. To the point where I miss having them in the summer because the last thing you want is to increase your body temperature,” Shaughna told Bustle. “When I used to go to the gym after work, in the days before Love Island, I remember the moments when I would see a text from my mum saying, ‘Your bath is running’ and it would literally feel like I’d won the lottery. Thinking about my bath is one thing I used to do to get me through the gym. Feeling that post-workout ache and being in the bath. There is nothing better! I've got to have a lot of bubbles, not bath salts – I can just feel the grains and it makes me feel like the water is dirty. Lots of candles. I like to have my hair up, out of my face, because I get very hot and bothered.”

Model and influencer Sarah Nicole Landry is sharing some inspirational words with her 2.5 million Instagram followers. Landry, 39, posted a video of herself wearing pink workout gear, walking outside and doing yoga poses on a mat. “I hear ‘I wish I had your confidence’ everyday and the secret is - me too?? I wish I had the feeling first, but I don’t. And that’s ok. I’ve gotten so comfy with the uncomfortable. Because the alternative is holding myself back, feeling badly and letting it bleed into everything else or not doing the things I so badly want to. So I make the choice, and I forge ahead. And my gosh, does it work. I’m on cloud 9 and I started on cloud like, 2... Life is short. We can’t be waiting on feelings to give us permission to live!” she captioned the post. 1. Workout Routine

Landry found a routine she loves and sticks to. “In the beginning, I ran on a treadmill five times a week before realizing I hated running on a treadmill,” she told HuffPost. “I switched to body strength exercises I could do at home with the kids around after I found a fitness trainer mom (@bikinibodymommy) who offered free online workouts. After my weight loss (and healing from dieting and stepping into exercising for reasons more than weight loss) I found I loved weight lifting, as well as some cardio, a good long walk with the family, and dancing in my bedroom alone for half an hour.”

2. Postpartum Fitness

Landry understands how difficult postpartum fitness can be. “For me, postpartum acceptance took almost a decade and that’s not uncommon,” she told Experience Life. “Sadly, for many, it’s because we’ve been led to believe we have to ‘bounce back’ to a body we once had, when realistically, how can we? How can we be expected to ever go back to the woman we were before when we have evolved and become so much more? The “bounce forward” is truly where the magic is: Letting go of your past self; honoring her as you move forward; remembering that she had her own struggles; having respect for your body and the good job it’s done in carrying you — and your children, too.”

3. Power of Positivity

Landry is a big believer in being surrounded by positivity. “Motivation truly comes and goes,” she told Notable Life. “There will always be peaks and valleys and the key to staying motivated is seeking outside sources of motivation when your own is at a low. Surround yourself and your newsfeeds with people, places and things that help you form inspiring thoughts and decisions.”

4. Body Positivity

Landry says body positivity should not be stressful. “I feel like all it did was give everybody permission to kind of show up as they are, and we’re still working through it,” she told Glory Media. “I think there’s a lot of mixed messaging too. When we talk about body positivity, a lot of people are like ‘Well, I don’t feel positive about my body when you talk about confidence,’ or ‘I don’t feel confident in my body when you talk about self-love. I don’t love myself all the time.’ So that can be really confusing. It just feels like another hurdle to get over. It feels like we already failed at not looking the part, now we can’t even feel it—and that sucks.”

5. Creative Process

Landry says her thoughts fuel her creativity. “As humans, we experience thoughts all day long, positive and negative ones,” she told Experience Life. “We’re really good at having them and letting them flow through us, but to capture them, write them down and share them, it lends itself to a new form of creativity, vulnerability, and connection. It’s why I typically write my captions before I find an image to pair with them.”

Landry answered, “To give themselves grace and remember they are not the problem or something to fix, but a person who has been saturated with messages of not being enough. She tells Jillian Harris, “A big part of this has been following folks who echo positive messages about our relationships with food. That there is no moral value on food, no good, no bad, no “guilt-free” or “cheat days”. There is a spectrum of nutrient density, but not a moral value. Something that’s really helped me over the years.”

Landry tells Jillian Harris that she is always showing up for herself, and wants others to do the same. “I think my goal would be to show more that we don’t have to FEEL confident or FEEL love for our bodies but SHOW UP confidently and SHOW UP in love. That doesn’t have to be rocking a bikini but rocking whatever makes you not focus on your body so you can focus on the life around you.”

Landry posted this set of photos on Instagram, where she talked about diet culture, and how it has caused people to hate their bodies.
