Sommer Ray is a fitness model, influencer, and expert. She shares a lot of her favorite workouts on Instagram. Recently, Ray hit the gym to do some stretching. She shared a reel of some of her favorite stretches on Instagram, and promoted it on her story. Ray is seen doing poses like downward facing dog, and is wearing gray workout pants. She captioned the reel, “Stretch with me.”
She Does Lunges
Ray shared some of her favorite at-home workouts in this YouTube video. The first thing she is seen doing is jump lunges. According to ACE Fitness, lunges of all kinds have a lot of health benefits. “They’re a form of unilateral training, which means you’re working only one limb or side of the body at a time. And unilateral training is a more effective way to build functional strength (than using both legs) because these types of movement mimic other everyday motions, like walking and climbing stairs — and not just to the working leg. Research suggests the strength gains to the nonworking side are about half of the strength gains of the working side.”
She Does Squats

Ray is also seen doing squats and squat jumps in her YouTube video. These have a lot of health benefits. The Cleveland Clinic states, “Proper squatting form requires you to reaaaaally engage your core — the muscles of your stomach, pelvis, hips and lower back. These large muscle groups support every move you make, both large and small, so keeping them strong helps keep you well.”
She Does Push-Ups

Another exercise Ray is seen doing in her YouTube video is push-ups. According to NASM, these are very effective. “Incredibly, this ONE exercise can help you torch calories, build and tone muscle, gain strength, and positively impact your overall fitness, function, and performance. Due to its versatility, mastering this exercise can be vital to unlocking your true fitness potential.”
She Does Jumping Jacks

Ray is also seen doing jumping jacks in her YouTube video. Gymless states that this exercise has a lot of health benefits. “Jumping jacks is an effective total-body workout that can be practiced nearly everywhere. It works on your heart, lungs, and muscles simultaneously. The primary muscles worked are the glutes, hip flexors, and quadriceps. The secondary muscles worked are the abs, calves, hamstrings, and shoulders (anterior deltoids and posterior deltoids).”
She Does Yoga

In her Instagram reel, Ray is seen doing yoga poses. According to Harvard Health, yoga has a lot of benefits. “Yoga is known for its ability to soothe tension and anxiety in the mind and body. But it can also have an impact on a person's exercise capacity. Researchers studied a small group of sedentary individuals who had not practiced yoga before. After eight weeks of practicing yoga at least twice a week for a total of 180 minutes, participants had greater muscle strength and endurance, flexibility, and cardio-respiratory fitness.”
