Sue Bird In Workout Gear Announces New Podcast

"Sue Bird is one of the most legendary WNBA players of all time. She won 4 WNBA championships with the Seattle Storm and won 5 gold medals as a part of Team USA in the Olympics. Now, Sue is adding podcast host to her long resume. She teased the first episode of her podcast, Bird's Eye View, on Instagram, and revealed that her first guest will be Sabrina Ionescu. Sue posed in a sweatshirt and jeans in the announcement.
She Limits & Cuts Certain Foods
Sue opened up about her diet in an interview with GQ. She revealed that she has had to cut or limit certain things due to health issues. "I don't eat dairy," she said. I've been gluten-free ever since I took a blood test that showed I have a mild allergy to gluten. I stick with all anti-inflammatory foods: tons of veggies, eggs, chicken and fish. I will have some red meat, but only every now and then. There's very little sugar, if any, because I save that for my cheat days."
She Drinks Cherry Juice
Sue loves drinking cherry juice, and told SELF that she drinks it every night. "I always drink Cherrish cherry juice. It has anti-inflammatory properties, so it's good for my recovery. Sometimes I'll actually make a smoothie that has some fruits or yogurt in it, and of course a little of that cherry juice. That's like my dessert for the evening, and it's one of the last things I have before I go to sleep."
She Stretches
Another part of Sue's nighttime routine is doing some stretches. "I like to stretch before I get into bed, " she told SELF. "Stretching is actually really hard for me. I just had a bunch of surgeries, so yoga is superhard. But I found a routine—it's only 15 minutes or so, if that—and I just kind of go through that. And if I have some spots that are kind of bugging me more, I'll spend a little more time on them. I wear a Woop, and I find that the nights I stretch, my recovery score is pretty high when I wake up."
She Takes Care Of Her Skin
Sue shared some of her favorite skincare products in her SELF interview. "One thing I always do at night is put on an eye cream [MBR Medical Beauty Research Eye Cream Smooth 100], then you follow it up with whatever moisturizer you like. I use Eminence Blueberry Soy Night Recovery Cream, but if I'm putting it on earlier in the day, I'll use something lighter, like Eminence Firm Skin Acai Moisturizer."
She's Kind To Herself
Even though Sue's no longer playing basketball, she's still working out on a regular basis. Her secret? Not being to hard on herself. "You've got to be kind to yourself, and it used to be if you didn't kill yourself, the workout didn't matter," she says to TODAY.com. "And now I'm like, 'No, if I do 20 minutes of fill-in-the-blank, that's what I have today. That's enough for today.' And it's good for your mental health. Good for all the things."
