After Jess lost over 44 pounds in 2022, she revealed that changing her mindset surrounding food was key. In particular, she told Daily Mail that she gave up “emotional eating.” What is emotional eating anyway? Some people use food to cope with emotions, trying to “stuff” their feelings.
2. Bike Riding

Jess regularly exercises. One of her favorite outdoor activities is riding bikes with her children, she revealed to Daily Mail. What makes cycling – both stationary and trail – a great workout? The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.
3. Low Carb Diet
Jess also revealed that watching what she ate was a big component of her weight loss. “I feel healthier,” she told Daily Mail, adding that she is dieting. “I'm trying to keep down carbs [carbohydrates]” she said. Many experts maintain that avoiding carbs altogether isn’t sustainable. Instead, they recommend choosing more digestible carbs instead of processed options.
4. Stand Up Paddleboarding
Another outdoor activity Jess loves is stand up paddleboarding. “Just a couple of besties on a board,” she captioned an Instagram post. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and also a great form of cardio. The water sport can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140 pound male and 436 for a female the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.
5. Hiking

- Improving your heart health
- Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems
