Karen Fukuhara is dancing up a storm in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post The Boys star shows off her flat abs in a summer look, celebrating one of her pals. “Friend’s rave themed Bday ✨🪩🦄 @spirithoods,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. Martial Arts

Karen is experienced in martial arts. “I started karate in middle school when my parents wanted me to babysit my younger brother. He was a little troublemaker, so they wanted me to make sure the class was going okay. I ended up being way more into it than my brother. I did competitions; I’ve flown to Japan to compete in the worldwide championships as well. I ended at a brown striped belt but then went off to college,” she told Vogue.

2. Strength Training

Full,Length,Portrait,Of,Beautiful,Girl,Wearing,Black,Crop,Top,Shutterstock

Karen maintains that when she got cast in Suicide Squad she wasn’t in shape and had to get back into fighting and strength training. “Yes, it had been years; I lost a lot of the right kind of muscles. David really focused on the actors doing their own stunts because he wanted to create reality, and that’s the best way to do it. So we had a month and a half of preproduction [to train]. For me, I did sword fighting, martial arts, and fitness, but all of the training worked together. I would do the right kind of weight lifting so that I could lift the sword—and sword fighting is actually a lot of core,” she told Vogue. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

3. Protein and Carbs

As for her diet, Karen balances carbs with protein. “Well, I love food and I love carbs: Pasta, rice—that’s my thing. But for the movie, a lot of your physicality comes from not only training but your diet, too. I ate a lot of quinoa, greens, chicken breast. There wasn’t a nutritionist, but we did have meals that were specifically made for us,” she told Vogue.

4. Dance

In her latest post, Karen looks ready to dance. Dancing is a great workout for many reasons. Not only does it build strength and promote flexibility, but helps you lose weight and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

5. Gym Workouts

When she isn’t training for a role, Karen still makes sure to exercise. “I try to go to the gym. I either go on the rower or watch a TV show on the treadmill, and then I do some weight lifting. Having a trainer changes your life, it really does. I want to get back into that groove. And I just got back to the same karate dojo that I used to do in high school. Right now, the little kids are doing way better than I am!” she says.

The Bachelorette star Jenn Tran sent reality fans into an uproar with a recent social media video. Tran, 26, shared a reel of herself wearing gray workout pants and a one-shoulder sports bra, posing by her pool when her ex Jonathon Johnson walks into the shot. “Guess we’ll never know,” she captioned the post. “OMG PLEASE GET MARRIED 😭💖🙏🏽,” a fan commented. Tran also announced she will be taking part in the new season of Dancing With the Stars—here’s how this bombshell stays fit and happy.

1. Gym Sessions

Tran stays active by hitting the gym and spending time in nature. She swears by Kate Somerville Hydrakate Illuminating Sunscreen SPF 50+ to keep her safe from the sun. "You can layer it on top of, or under makeup, and it kind of gives you a glow as well as protection from the sun," she told E! News.

2. Yes, That’s Her Hair

Tran feels strongly about transparency on social media. “Transparency on social media is so important, because I don’t want any fake beauty standards because of me,” she told Glamour. “Growing up that was tough too, seeing all these people and being like, “Why don’t I look like them?” It’s always important to be transparent about things. And with my hair, people aren’t exposed to a lot of South East Asian women and they don’t know that oftentimes we do have really long lush hair.”

3. Cosmetic Work

Tran is open about having cosmetic work done, telling fans she only just got lip fillers. “I’ve always wanted to get a little bit of lip filler, I’ve just never had the chance to,” she said in a TikTok video. “For me, I just really wanted to enhance the natural beauty in my face that I already have. I don’t want to look super done up. I’m really loving how they look so far. They will go down. They do hurt a little bit. This is all of my own hair, believe it or not. I need to get it cut but I’m gonna wait a couple weeks.”

4. The Bachelor Wardrobe

Tran says she regrets some of her wardrobe choices on The Bachelor. “There was a date where we were told it was going to be athletic, so I put on a tennis skirt because I thought we were going to play tennis,” she told E! News. “We were doing push-ups in the mud instead. So I regret wearing a tennis skirt!”

5. Asian Role Model

Jenn TranJenn Tran/Instagram

Tran is proud to be a role model. "I feel so so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian bachelorette in this franchise," she said. "Growing up, I've always wanted to see Asian representation on TV. And I feel like it was really sparse. Any time Asians were in the media, it was to fill a supporting character role, to fulfill some sort of stereotype, and I felt really boxed in by that because I was like, 'I don't see myself on screen. I don't see myself as a main character.'"

Celebrities are famous for losing and gaining weight in the public eye. However, sometimes there is professional ambition behind their body transformations. Christian Bale, Tom Hanks, and Anne Hathaway’s drastic transformations for movie roles are some of the most talked about. However, there are other body makeovers that have gotten less, but equally deserved, recognition. Here are 7 stars who have transformed their bodies for roles.

1. Halle Berry: Bruised

95th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsJeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Sure, Halle Berry has been known as one of the fittest female celebrities for almost her entire career. But the Academy Award winner was determined to get “ripped abs” for her MMA movie Bruised. She went viral when she shared an Instagram snap of her six-pack with fans. According to the 56-year-old, she worked out a whopping four hours a day, doing high-intensity MMA-style cardio workouts, strength training, plyometric training, running, and boxing, and did intermittent fasting while on the keto diet.

2. Kate Bosworth: Blue Crush

Kate Bosworth, a former model, had a lean figure when she booked her career-changing role in the 2002 film Blue Crush. However, she needed to transform her body into a surfer girl. "That was the most intense physical experience I have ever gone through," she said. She has since revealed that she spent seven hours a day training for the part, doing high-intensity cross-training. "[It] took four hours of surfing and an hour of weight training and an hour of either running the beach or running under the water with a rock."

3. Jennifer Lopez: Hustlers

Jennifer Lopez upped her already intense training game for her role as a stripper in Hustlers. "It's rough on your body," Jennifer, who installed a pole in her home said, about training for the film in a YouTube vlog. She worked with choreographer and instructor Johanna Sapakie for six weeks, claiming it was one of the toughest training periods of her life.

4. Gal Gadot: Wonder Woman

Not just anyone can play Wonder Woman, but Gal Gadot understood the assignment. The Israeli actress trained for six hours a day for six months to get in superhero shape for the role of her lifetime. "I did two hours gym work, two hours fight choreography, and two hours horseback riding. Which is super hard," she said during an appearance on Live With Kelly And Ryan.

5. Blake Lively: The Shallows

While Blake Lively is known for having one of the best bodies in Hollywood and normally wouldn’t have to do much to get in shape for a role, even one that required her to be in a bikini nonstop, the timing of The Shallows was a little bit different: Filming started just months after welcoming her daughter, James. "I was working out 13 hours a day because shooting was working out," she told Entertainment Tonight. "It was neat to be able to do that, and it was neat to have that challenge after having a baby, because you think your body is so different—you think no matter what, it's never [going to be] totally be the same. I thought, 'That's really encouraging.'" She trained with Don Saladino and made some serious dietary changing, eliminating soy and gluten. "It's all in moderation," she explained People. "You just have a balance of protein, carbs, and vegetables. And it wasn't the worst. Like, I was eating rice and sushi."

6. Hilary Swank: Million Dollar Baby

US-ENTERTAINMENT-FILM-THE HUNTROBYN BECK/AFP via Getty Images

Hilary Swank worked hard to gain 19 pounds of muscle and transform into a boxer for Million Dollar Baby. According to the star, she spent 2.5 hours of boxing and 2 hours of weightlifting every day, six days a week for three months. She would also have to wake up in the middle of the night to consume protein in order to sustain the workouts. "There was a point where I could only eat 50 grams of carbs a day," she said. "Just to give you an example of that, an 8-ounce glass of apple juice has 30 grams of carbs in it." The hard work paid off: She won an Oscar for the role.

7. Brie Larson: Captain Marvel

Brie Larson got famously fit to play Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. She trained with Jason Walsh, who put her through rigorous workouts lifting heavy weights, rock climbing, doing mixed martial arts, and boxing. She even got so strong she was able to push a "5,000 [pound] Jeep (with a full tank of gas)" for 60 seconds.

John Wick: Chapter 4 star Rina Sawayama is in Texas, but she’s dreaming of beautiful Ibiza. Sawayama, 33, shared pictures of herself soaking up the sun in the OKU resort on the Spanish island, looking serene and sunkissed in a white bikini. “Body is in Texas, mind is in Ibiza 🧘🏻‍♀️,” she captioned the post. Sawayama says getting the role in John Wick was an incredibly intense experience—here’s what her training looked like.

1. Japanese Skincare

Los,Angeles,,Ca.,March,20,,2023:,Rina,Sawayama,At,TheShutterstock

Sawayama was ahead of the curve when it came to Asian skincare brands. "I always hoarded skincare when I went to Japan for my summer holidays, so I remember getting a lot of drugstore makeup and skincare,” she says. “I think one of my first purchases was eye makeup — clear mascara and light blue eyeshadow. I have a skincare subscription from Dermatica which, across the year, is a splurge. I also use Athletic Greens to get my vitamins and minerals for the day."

2. Beauty Idol

Sawayama’s beauty idol is her mother. “She’s like 60 and she has no wrinkles,” she says. “I asked her, ‘What’s your skin skincare routine?’ She’s like, ‘I use baby oil, then I wash my face with shampoo. I’m like, okay, well I need to ditch my ten step Korean skin care routine because I don’t need to do all that!”

3. John Wick Miracle

Rina,Sawayama,Wearing,Dress,By,Thom,Browne,Attends,New,YorkShutterstock

Sawayama was in disbelief when she got the role of Akira in John Wick: Chapter 4. “John Wick is a miracle movie to me,” she says. “I’ve been doing auditions and self-tapes in the background of music for years, but I hadn’t landed anything. Then I got a call from Chad Stahelski, the director, and he’d seen my music videos. He asked what I was doing for the next three months. I’d finished the bulk of my writing for the second record and had a gap in my schedule. I was in Berlin three days later. The ink on the contract hadn’t even dried when I began stunt training.”

4. Training For John Wick

Sawayama’s training for John Wick: Chapter 4 was intense—five weeks of work every day, including night shoots. “A tour is easy compared to this,” she says. “It was the most intense thing I’ve ever done. In music, I know what I’m doing onstage. I know my groove. But acting is completely new, and I was learning in a very high-pressure situation. It taught me I can push myself even more. We did five hours of exercise every day — and there were times I’d get through half the day and really not want to do it. But you push through. When I feel like I’m dying, I can tap into this place, locate where the tiredness is, and shine a light on it.”

5. Beauty Community

Sawayama loves the beauty communities on Instagram. “When I was growing up, I’d look at Dior in the 2000s, when Pat McGrath was doing like these amazing, insane looks,” she says. “We didn’t have as much access to stuff like that, but now we have all these beauty communities on Instagram. I think that’s the strength of Instagram, to be able to tap into these communities that will appreciate your creativity. I think that’s been a really positive thing. People are not as self conscious, maybe. Previously, you’d have to look at magazines and archives and books, but now you don’t because of Instagram.”

Dani Elle Speegle in Two-Piece Workout Gear is "Just a Girl and Her Barbell"

Discover how elite CrossFit athlete Dani Elle Speegle stays in peak condition with weightlifting, golfing, jumping rope, hiking, and cold plunges.

Dani Elle Speegle isn’t just strong—she’s unstoppable. The elite CrossFit athlete and social media sensation has built a massive following by sharing her intense training sessions and inspiring fitness moments. Recently, she posted a series of weightlifting photos on Instagram, proving once again why she’s a powerhouse in the gym.

“Just a girl and her barbell,” she captioned the post, letting her strength do the talking. From lifting heavy to outdoor adventures, here’s how Speegle stays in peak condition.

She Lifts Weights

In her Instagram post, Speegle is seen lifting weights. According to ACE Fitness, doing this has a lot of benefits. “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

She Golfs

Speegle likes to golf to keep herself in shape. She shared a video of herself on the course in this Instagram post. According to Randa aerobic exercise. “Golf can help strength and balance, improve quality of life and provide aerobic exercise. On a regular 18-hole course, most players will walk between four and five miles, burning up to 2,000 calories.”

She's Into Jumping Rope

Speegle shared this video on Instagram of herself competing in Crossfit events. In it, she is seen jumping rope. According to The Cleveland Clinic, jumping rope has a lot of benefits. “Benefits of jump rope can help improve your coordination, get your heart rate going and help burn calories — and it’s an easy, affordable way to get some cardio in.”

She Hikes

Speegle likes to hike to keep herself in shape. She shared this photo on Instagram of herself hiking the Koko Head Summit. Speegle captioned the post, “Woke up and chose pain today. Every 45 min X 3 rounds: Koko head 💀💀💀 Then sat in my car and stared into the abyss while munching on Banan 🥲🥲🥲”

She Does Cold Plunges

Speegle makes sure to recover. One thing she likes to do is cold plunges. Speegle shared this video of herself jumping into a tub. According to The Mayo Clinic, these have a lot of benefits. “Research on cold-water immersion has found evidence that it helps reduce the degree of exercise-induced muscle damage that can occur after physically challenging activities. Less damage leads to less inflammation, which in turn reduces soreness and helps restore physical performance the next day. These benefits may be the result of rapid constriction of the blood vessels due to the cold water. The cold can trigger responses in your body, such as decreased metabolic activity, alterations in hormone production and blood flow, and activation of the immune system.”

Golfer Tvesa Malik in Two-Piece Workout Gear Shares "Awesome" Exercises

Discover how Tvesa Malik, SuperSport Ladies Championship winner, stays in peak shape with weightlifting, core work, and golf.

Golfer Tvesa Malik in Two-Piece Workout Gear Shares "Awesome" Exercises
Tvesa Malik / Instagram

Tvesa Malik isn’t just a pro golfer—she’s a powerhouse athlete dedicated to staying in peak shape. The SuperSport Ladies Championship winner knows that strength and endurance are just as important as skill on the course. That’s why she takes her fitness seriously, incorporating weightlifting, core work, and mobility exercises into her training.

Last year, Malik gave fans a look at her workout routine in an Instagram video, where she powered through hanging crunches, lunges, and weightlifting sessions. She captioned the post, “Got some major work to do before my next session,” proving that even elite athletes are always striving to improve. Here’s a closer look at how Malik keeps her body strong and ready for competition.

She Lifts Weights

Malik is seen doing a lot of weight lifting in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that this has a lot of benefits. “Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

She Does Lunges

Malik is seen shifting into lunges in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that lunges are a form of unilateral training, and that makes them effective. “Unilateral training is a more effective way to build functional strength (than using both legs) because these types of movement mimic other everyday motions, like walking and climbing stairs — and not just to the working leg. Research suggests the strength gains to the nonworking side are about half of the strength gains of the working side.”

She Does Core Workouts

Malik is seen doing core workouts, like hanging crunches in her Instagram video. Core workouts are extremely important. The Mayo Clinic says, “While it takes aerobic activity to burn fat in your stomach, core exercises can strengthen and tone the underlying muscles. Strong core muscles make it easier to do many activities. When your core muscles are strong, it's easier to swing a golf club, get a glass from the top shelf and bend down to tie your shoes.”

She Does Pull-Ups

An upper body workout that Malik likes to do is pull-ups. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing them at the gym. Malik captioned it, “Got some major work to do before my next session.” Asphalt Green says that pull-ups have a lot of benefits. “Pull-ups are a fantastic way to improve upper-body strength. This exercise primarily targets your back and biceps, but involves many stabilizing muscles in your core, arms, and shoulders. Depending on the way you grip the bar, you can even work your chest. Plus, you don’t need any fancy equipment to do a pull-up. Tree branches, scaffolding, and even door frames are all places people can do pull-ups.”

She Golfs

Golf is obviously one of the ways that Malik keeps herself in shape. Better Health says that the sport has a lot of benefits. “Golf can be good for your health and your heart. Walking an average course for a round of golf can be between five to seven kilometres. If you walk 18 holes three to five times a week, you’ll get an optimal amount of endurance exercise for your heart. If you pull your clubs or carry them, you’ll burn even more calories each round and benefit even more.”

Recently, she took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her latest gym session, including a stairclimber workout, a snapshot of her Apple Watch tracking her progress, and a post-workout mirror selfie in pink workout gear.

Her message? Consistency is key. “Don't underestimate the power of small, consistent actions! Every effort is worth it when you know where you want to go,” she captioned the post. From intense stair workouts to leg-sculpting exercises, here’s how Guper stays in top shape.

She Uses A Stairclimber

In her Instagram post, Guper is seen using the stairclimber. Stair workouts have a lot of health benefits. ACE Fitness says, “Improving metabolic health in terms of lower risks of heart problems and other complications, also by definition improves fitness. You can feel your heart working harder and the fire in your lungs when you ascend stairs. And that’s provoking important changes in your cardiorespiratory system that will make physical activities, like running and walking, feel easier.”

She’s Consistent

Guper makes sure to stay consistent with her workout routines. One way she does so is by staying disciplined. Guper talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Good morning! May we always have the discipline to do what is good for us. Amen 💪🏽🙏🏽✨ 40 min stair + shoulder and chest workout today.”

She Does Lunges

Guper shared some of her favorite lower body workouts in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is lunges. According to The Mayo Clinic, lunges have a lot of benefits. “The lunge is a body resistance exercise that works the leg muscles. Specifically, the lunge targets the quadriceps and the hamstring muscles in the thigh, the gluteal muscles in the buttock, and to a lesser extent, the lower leg muscles.”

She Does Leg Extensions

In the previous Instagram video, Guper is seen using the leg extension machine. Asphalt Green says that leg extensions have a lot of benefits. “These machines provide isolation exercises for your legs. This type of exercise works only one muscle or group of muscles, which means you can build up that part of your body quickly. If you want your thigh muscles to really stand out in those shorts you just bought, the leg extension machine is for you!”

She Spends Time Outside

Guper likes to spend time outside. She shared this set of photos on Instagram of herself enjoying a day by the pool with her dog. Guper captioned the post, “Good Morning! What book are you reading? 📖💚🐺🌮 I'm loving reading How to become super natural! I'm already sharing saying it's a must-read.”
