Gaia Sabbatini is a track and field athlete. She competes in middle distance events. Sabbatini has won a gold medal at the European Team Championships, the European U23 Championships, and the European Cross Country Championships. Sabbatini shared a set of photos and a video on Instagram of herself training. She captioned it, “Trust the process.”

She Runs

Running is obviously the main way Sabbatini stays in shape. FloTrack states that it has a lot of benefits. “Running and jogging is an aerobic exercise, and you’re working out both your heart and lungs while doing so. This will also lead to a lower resting heart rate, lower bad cholesterol in your blood and lower blood pressure. You don’t need to run an obscene amount of miles every day to get these benefits, either. Those who just run a couple of minutes a day decrease their risk of cardiovascular death by 58 percent.”

She Swims

Sabbatini likes to swim to keep herself in shape. She included photos of herself in the water in this Instagram post from Greece. According to The Cleveland Clinic, swimming has a lot of health benefits. “Like other forms of cardio, swimming can help you burn calories and lose weight. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a 154-pound person who swims slow freestyle laps for 30 minutes burns 255 calories. But that amount varies depending on your weight, speed and stroke.”

She's Motivated

Sabbatini is motivated to work hard. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Where it all began. 🏡This is the field where I started running, where I became passionate about this sport, where I have grown and changed. I still remember well the laughter with my friends, the crying over small injuries, the fatigue of training right after school, the adrenaline of competing with my training partners. Today being back on this field with crutches has given me even more motivation and determination to experience those emotions there as soon as possible. ❤❤️"

She Works Out With Others

Sabbatini likes to workout with others. She shared this video on Instagram of her training with some others. Better Health states that working out with friends can have a lot of health benefits. “Having someone to motivate you can make all the difference to achieving your goal. In fact, research has found that people are more likely to lose weight if their exercise buddy is losing weight. Bonus!”

She's Improving Her Mental Health

Sabbatini isn’t just training her body, she also trains her mind. She talked about this in an interview with NSS Sports. “I'm also carrying out mental training. I started a course with a psychologist about a year ago. I felt the need for it. You expose yourself and the criticism starts and I suffered a lot from the criticism, so I decided to get help, not only to face the competitions and training but also to manage my life. So my preparation is both mental and physical.”

MMA fighter Paige VanZant is used to dealing with heavy weights—but even though she makes it look effortless, her training is seriously intense. VanZant, 30, shared a video of herself wearing brown shorts and a black sports bra, pushing a very heavy sled across the gym with a smile on her face. VanZant is open about the incredible discipline it takes to train like an athlete and prepare for fights—here’s what her diet, fitness, and training routine looks like, and her best advice for anyone who wants to be strong.

1. She's Dedicated to Her Regime

VanZant is strict and dedicated to her workout regimen. “I’m in the gym every day twice a day,” she told Women Fitness. “Since I have switched over to professional boxing my schedule comprises of boxing every day, sometimes twice a day. And strength and conditioning three days a week. I do all of my training at American top team, a world renowned MMA and combat academy.”

2. Fighting Diet and Cheat Days

VanZant is careful about her diet, but makes a point of making her healthy food as delicious as possible. “Dieting is a huge part of being any sort of professional athlete,” she told Women Fitness. “My husband and I love cooking and we really enjoy making healthy meals together. I like to think of myself as a chef and have competed on many cooking shows. We of course have our occasional cheat day here and there. But once we have a flight scheduled it’s down to business. Then after we fight we go a little bit crazy and eat everything in sight.”

3. Intense Training and Relaxing Workouts

VanZant is active even on her “off” days, going on hikes to relax. “Every day is different, it depends on what day of the week it is,” she told Vogue. “We have lots of classes, wrestling, jujitsu. I do a lot of Pilates, yoga, CrossFit as well. I also try to include one relaxing workout through the week like hiking. When I gear up for a fight I try to cut out a lot of the fun outdoorsy workouts and do a lot more training in the gym. I do more cardio, and I run a lot if I can. I do a lot more sparring and more combat throughout the week.”

4. Fitness Goals

VanZant advises anyone wanting to get fit to start slowly and set realistic goals—you don’t have to work out like an MMA fighter to reap the rewards. “Just taking a cardio kickboxing class [can be helpful],” she told Vogue. “You can go into a gym and it’s all cardio-based and you get to learn a little bit of self-defense as well. When I started MMA, I got into the best shape of my life.”

5. Dancing With the Stars

VanZant loved her stint on Dancing With the Stars, as she has a background in dance. “Competing on Dancing With the Stars by far was one of the greatest experiences I have been able to take part in because of my successful MMA career,” she told Women Fitness. “I actually grew up dancing and had been away from it for the past 10 years. Being on the show helped me get back in touch with my roots. I absolutely loved my partner Mark Ballas. We are still very good friends and chat every now and then. I would love to be able to compete on the show one more time and redeem myself and my second place trophy. As a professional fighter I really want that first place win.”

CrossFit is the main way Pagan stays in shape. It has a lot of health benefits. Dignity Health states, “There's a reason CrossFit is so popular: Its workouts do a great job getting people in shape. Participants are drawn to the competitive atmosphere and camaraderie that their box's WODs foster. But CrossFit isn't just for the athletically inclined: People of all fitness levels and walks of life can participate in the training, although some WODs may need to be modified for beginners. Practitioners attribute their fast transformations to CrossFit's high-intensity and continuously changing workouts. Training consists of compound exercises to build cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, speed, and balance while burning more calories per minute than traditional weight-training activities. In addition to body-weight movements, the program utilizes a variety of equipment -- from barbells and medicine balls to jump ropes and elastic bands -- as part of its daily WODs.”

2. She Does Sit-Ups

Pagan shared some of her favorite workouts in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is sit-ups. The Cleveland Clinic reports, “Sit ups are great for tightening your core. They strengthen and tone your rectus abdominus, transverse abdominus and oblique abdominal muscles as well as your neck muscles. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends three sets of 8 to 12 repetitions three times per week.”

3. She Lifts Weights

Pagan likes to lift weights to keep herself in shape. In the previous Instagram video, Pagan is seen lifting a barbell. She is also seen using a barbell in this Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that lifting weights has a lot of benefits. “Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

4. She Uses A Stationary Bike

Zummer Pagan.4Zummer Pagan/Instagram

In the previous Instagram video, Pagan is also seen using an exercise bike. Penn State PRO Wellness states that using an exercise bike to workout is very beneficial. “Depending on the intensity of your workout and your body weight, you can burn more than 600 calories an hour with a stationary bike workout. This makes indoor cycling an excellent workout option for burning calories quickly.”

5. She’s Comfortable With Herself

Pagan is comfortable with herself and her body. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram video. “Dare to be different and see yourself outside the norm. Although it took me a long time to accept that I look different, I now understand what my body is capable of is awesome and I am grateful everyday for it. At the end of the day, why be the same as the rest?”

Italian Alpine skiing champion Sofia Goggia decided to do some training in the desert heat of Dubai, UAE, to mix things up—unfortunately, it was raining. Goggia, 31, shared pictures from her trip, including a photo of her posing on a rainy track in black shorts and a long-sleeved shirt. “I like to think that I brought the rain to the desert and, after all, being here to a specific objective, this has allowed me to work at the top between physiotherapy and outdoor training… Thanks Dubai, and thanks to those who were there, this is for sure a week to be remembered,” she captioned the post. Here’s how Goggia stays fit, focused, and ready for anything.

1. E-Biking Enthusiast

Goggia loves e-biking in the mountains with her friends. “I particularly like the contact with nature, with the mountains, and the fact that it is a little less tiring than a normal mountain bike,” she told Bike Like This. “I immediately understood that it could become a great training tool, also thanks to the fact that it presents a pedal stroke that never has moments of maximum effort, especially using it as an alternative work for milder cardio.”

2. Training In Her Sleep

Young,Calm,Woman,Sleeping,Well,Alone,In,Comfortable,Bed.,LadyShutterstock

Goggia is preparing for competitions even in her sleep. “Before I go to sleep I tell my brain, ‘Dream about the course and the right lines…’ It’s almost if I tell it to keep working and collect information after my training runs,” she told the Red Bull podcast. “From a technical point of view, I focus (before the race) on the technical moves that I’ll need in race. The pure technique is probably not my strongest skill, but I’ll try to pay attention to every detail from sleep, food, other things I need to take care of … I’m not superstitious, but I like to have my routine. Routine puts me in a sort of comfort zone because you keep doing things that make you feel confident.”

3. Strength Training

Goggia’s workout regimen includes training with weights and resistance equipment at the gym. “You don't need to spend hours a day lifting weights to benefit from strength training,” says the Mayo Clinic. “You can see significant improvement in your strength with just two or three 20- or 30-minute strength training sessions a week.”

4. Rustic Cabin In Nature

Goggia escapes to a rustic cabin when she wants to rest and reset. “To find inner peace, I have my own special place,” she told Demoerosso. “I have a cabin in the Aosta Valley, 2200 meters up in the Gran Paradiso National Park. There is no electricity or running water. Light comes from an oil lamp and I wash in the creek. When I want to rest I go there, it's beautiful. I can't always carve out time, but I always try for at least a couple of days. It is the ideal place to really switch off and unload any stress. Being demanding with yourself is fine, but when this becomes a limit you have to be able to acknowledge this and find the right balance.”

5. Always Evolving

Goggia wants to keep evolving in both her personal and professional life. “I read a lot of books about personal growth and I am always trying to improve myself as a person,” she told Demoerosso. “When you think that thirty of us women are within half a second over 3 km, you understand that what makes the difference are also soft skills, all those skills and character traits that we unconsciously exploit when interacting with people. I'm stubborn, for example, but I'm trying to be more flexible, this is one aspect of my personality I'm trying to improve right now. Working on these details can also make the difference, so that I’m calm when I reach the gate and ready to express the best of my mind and body.”

How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here are her top lifestyle tips.

Lifting Weights

Bianca spends hours at the gym where she focuses on strength training along with endurance, cardio, reaction time, and reflexes. “You know, to be a driver, it’s a complete package. It takes strength. It takes mental fortitude. It takes reflexes, smart thinking, and survival skills,” she told MEGA Active. “Sometimes it's for the body, sometimes it's for the mind. Nothing more peaceful than early sessions,” she captioned an Instagram post of one of her sessions.

Double Down On Training

In her recent post, Bianca reveals that she working extra hard at the gym. “I’ve been working hard over the years to build a solid foundation, but in 2025, I’ll be working with @j_w_90 and I’m doubling down on my training. Increasing to two workouts a day not just on lifts but aerobic endurance, as well as a better focus on nutrition and rest, in order to raise the bar to compete in the higher formulas,” she said.

Fueling Your Body With Protein

Bianca makes sure to eat enough protein in order to build more muscle and stay as lean as possible to meet the weight requirement. “It’s been a really cool journey seeing my body develop and transform into this whole different person I never knew I could become,” she said. In her new post she added that she is meal prepping. “I’m soooo all in that im even learning how to cook & meal prep better than ever before,” she writes.

Taking Cold Plunges

As for recovery, cold plunging is part of Bianca’s training regime. Limited research supports the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, bringing body temperature down, increasing focus, improving sleep, and decreasing inflammation, per the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes post-sport recovery.

Working On Self-Esteem

Positive self-talk is also important. “Of course, I put a lot of pressure on myself, but in the end, I always tell myself that as long as I give my best and I learn from it, any mistake I make is valid,” Bianca explained. “I always try to repeat that to myself that I am valid. I’m here for a reason and there’s nothing I would rather do than be here.”

A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop or die from heart disease than non-dancers. Cats rely on volunteers for their food and water and there’s a huge amount of them. There’s a city program to Spay and neuter with the wonderful @sobecats ladies and the feeding is made official by a City Sanctioned badge, yet new cats keep getting dumped daily sadly and there’s a never ending amount of work, emergencies and so on. I was on a feeding rotation but during the pandemic I was left alone caring for so many as people left town or couldn’t afford feeding anymore …I decided to start my own non profit @helpmiamicats . We feed close to 200 and when Batman got paralyzed took him and other special needs cats under my care … @stevensachs69 with the cat room and the amazing people involved devote their lives to these special souls … My life has changed a lot too … way less spare time, way more sweat and tears and lost the person I had by my side who had sadly other priorities … yet gained so much love from these lovely creatures !!! If you can please get involved in any way … follow @helpmiamicats , share, volunteer, adopt … donate … Only together we can make their world a better place !!! And yes … just me feeding the kitties and talking to them … 🤷🏻♀️👀😆❤️🙌”
