Ayisha Issa is an actress, best known for her role on the show Transplant. She recently enjoyed a vacation, and shared a highlight reel on Instagram. In it, Issa is seen enjoying food with friends, hiking, painting, driving, and sitting by the beach. She captioned the post, “For-rest Bathing.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Ayisha Issa stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Eats Healthy

Issa shared some of her diet secrets in an interview with Naluda Magazine. “I generally eat clean,” she says. “One of my coaches has me on this green smoothie diet where I have it twice a day and it’s actually very tasty! I also enjoy meat, fish and veggies. Some people would argue if meat is healthy or not but it definitely works for me with the hardcore training I put myself through.”

2. She Practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Issa likes to practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and talked about this in her Naluda Magazine interview. “With Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the most rewarding part is definitely helping people find new life skills through dedication and training. We basically teach our students what it means to fail and how it leads to success through resistance. It’s very valuable to see adults and kids overcome their fears and challenges in pursuit of their goals not just in learning jiu-jitsu but also applying it to everything else in their lives to achieve the best they can. On the other hand, the most rewarding part of my work in acting really has to do with exploring who I am as a person through the characters I’m portraying and the situations they face. Acting is an opportunity for me to share vulnerable parts of who I am and I hope people can connect with that.”

3. She Works Hard

2023 Canadian Screen Awards - Comedic & Dramatic Arts AwardsShutterstock

Issa is a hard worker. She even competes in Jiu-Jitsu competitions, and talked about this to Naluda Magazine. “For me, it was about having the confidence to put myself out there, which I am very proud of. As a current brown belt, I’m obviously much better at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu today than I was 5 years ago when I competed. I also happen to be on a team with several world champions who challenge me physically, mentally and push me to be my best. It really helps me stay humble and keep my ego in check, which I think is very important in a business like this. This only fuels me more to try again and again and keep on winning.”

4. She’s Grown

Issa tells Naluda Magazine that she believes that she’s grown as a person. “I use acting as therapy. It’s a great way to connect with and explore who you are as a person and how you fit into the world around you. I was very disconnected from the world and myself for a long time. Acting and Jiu-Jitsu together have had a tremendously positive effect on my outlook on life and helped me develop many valuable personality traits I strived for. As we all are, I am still a work in progress, but I’m proud to say I’ve come a long way.”

5. She Takes Care Of Her Hair & Skin

Issa makes sure to take care of her hair and skin, and shared her secrets with Sheen Magazine. “When it comes to hair, I love bentonite clay masks and I make a mix for a deep conditioner using shea butter, apple cider vinegar and molasses under a heat cap. I do that as often as possible and have seen my natural hair grow really fast and stay manageable. I also like bentonite and apple cider vinegar as an exfoliant for my skin.”

Skins star Laya Lewis took the opportunity to educate her fans and followers on the importance of slow vs fast fashion while on holiday in Italy. Lewis, who played Liv Malone on the show, shared pictures of herself posing in a variety of outfits, emphasizing that sustainable clothing does not have to be expensive. One snap showed the actress looking happy and relaxed on a boat in a black swimsuit. “Some more slow fashion looks from my recent trip to Italy. None cost a bomb,” she captioned the post. Here’s what Lewis thinks about her work and previous roles.

1. Swimming In the Sunshine

One look at Lewis’s social media shows just how much she loves swimming and the beach. “Swimming is one of the few activities that work your whole body,” says the British Heart Foundation. “Breaststroke, backstroke, front crawl, butterfly and even doggy paddle get your legs and arms moving. This in turn works your back and core muscles.”

2. Proud of Beverley

Lewis was proud to portray a biracial character in 2015 film Beverley. “I really loved that it was about a mixed race young girl,” she says. “You know, you get a lot of movies, different narratives that kind of circulate around the 80s, Margaret Thatcher, etc. But to be of mixed race, that’s often not covered and to be a mixed-race girl it’s kind of like you don’t know where you stand in society. You’re still a teenager as well as dealing with all those other troubles anyway… I just thought it would be really great to live through that, and being mixed race myself, I faced issues like bullying and stuff when I was in school – about the color of my skin. So, I thought it would be interesting to share that story and try to become part of it.”

3. No Drama School

Teacher,With,Male,And,Female,Drama,Students,At,Performing,ArtsShutterstock

Lewis never formally trained as an actress, and got her role in Skins from an open audition. “I didn’t go to drama school,” she says. “I was one of those people who was quite stuck with that. When everyone else was applying for university, I did apply, but I wasn’t too bothered about it, because I knew that I didn’t want to go at that time. I think my plan was to save and travel and do some volunteer work. I knew I wanted to eventually do a degree in media and cultural studies, which is what I’m doing now. But at the time I was just thinking of maybe traveling for a year and sort of deciding over that period what I really wanted to do.”

4. Vegan Meals

Lewis enjoys plant-based vegan meals. "You can be overweight and be a vegan; you can be malnourished and be a vegan," says cardiologist Jeffrey Soble, MD. "Whatever your diet choice, you have to know which foods to avoid and which foods to seek out... Refined grains, sweets and junk food are troublemakers for everyone, not just vegans. And vegans and nonvegans alike can fall into the habit of making these items the mainstays of their diet."

5. Media Studies

Lewis studied media and cultural studies alongside acting. “In a way, I find it’s quite separate from acting – not separate from the industry, but from acting itself,” she says. “The two can mesh, but now it’s like two separate things, which is nice, because it breaks things up. At this age, you’re getting jobs in dribs and drabs, at other times you’re working non-stop. So, it’s nice to have something separate to work on in my own time. I’m just enjoying learning as well. A lot of it is theory-based and to do with different cultures, so it’s nice to be doing that well."

1. She Wants To Try New Roles

Los,Angeles,,Ca,,-,Nov,14,,2022:,Madison,Iseman,ArrivesShutterstock

Iseman doesn’t want to be penciled into a box. She opened up about her career and what roles she went after in an interview with Grumpy Magazine. “After Jumanji, I purposely tried to find roles that were very different. I wanted to do so many different things — to cut my hair, to dye it brown — because the number one thing people knew me from was the blond bimbo who’s taking selfies in her room [and] I was tired of playing that. I love Bethany and I would do her a million times again, but I don’t want to play a million different versions of Bethany.”

2. She Swims

Iseman loves to swim to stay in shape. She shares a lot of posts on Instagram of herself in the water. Iseman shared these photos of herself and friends in the ocean. Better Health states that swimming is a great workout. “Swimming is a good all-round activity because it: keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body. Builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. Helps you maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs. Tones muscles and builds strength. Provides an all-over body workout, as nearly all of your muscles are used during swimming.”

3. She Hikes

Iseman likes to hike to keep herself in shape. She shared these photos on Instagram of herself and her friend hiking to a waterfall. Iseman captioned the post, “We went chasing waterfalls.” The National Park Services state, “Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail you find yourself on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between.”

4. She Has Abs

Los,Angeles,-,Mar,14:,Madison,Iseman,At,The,Shazam!Shutterstock

A strong core, marked by well-defined abdominal muscles or "abs", offers more than just aesthetic appeal. Abs play a pivotal role in overall body functionality. They stabilize the spine, improve posture, and reduce the risk of back injuries. Engaging and strengthening these muscles can aid in efficient movement patterns, making daily tasks easier and athletic endeavors more effective. Moreover, a strong core enhances balance and stability, reducing the potential for falls. Furthermore, exercises targeting the abs can boost metabolic rates, aiding in weight management. In summary, toned abs signify a robust core foundation, crucial for optimal physical health and functionality.

5. She Likes the Sun

Sunshine plays a crucial role in our well-being. The most recognized benefit is its ability to stimulate the skin to produce vitamin D, essential for bone health, immune function, and mood regulation. Natural sunlight can also enhance mood, alleviate depression, and regulate our internal body clock, supporting a healthy sleep-wake cycle. While these benefits are compelling, it's vital to enjoy sunshine responsibly. Overexposure can lead to sunburn, premature skin aging, and increased risk of skin cancers. To maximize benefits and minimize risks, wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, don protective clothing, and limit direct sun exposure during peak hours, typically between 10 am and 4 pm.

Suits star Sharon Leal isn’t afraid to improvise when she needs some pool time and there are no pools around to jump into and cool off. The 51-year-old actress shared a picture of herself chilling out in a children’s paddling pool, wearing a striped swimsuit while sipping on a margarita. “Is there room in the kiddie pool? Of course there is,” she captioned the post. “Share that suit maker stat.. you look beyond!” a fan commented. Here’s how the stunning actress makes 51 look like 30.

1. No Crazy Diets

Leal refuses to eliminate food groups or follow restrictive diets. “I love to eat. I love to travel,” she says. “Food is one of my favorite things. It’s always a sacrifice when I have to give up the things that I love. So, I’ve given up on cutting things out. Moderation is the key. I’ve given up on being a size 2 again. At a certain age it becomes more about health, and you aren’t driven from the vanity factor. It becomes more so about driving away stress! The big thing for me is working out. When you work out, you feel better. A good workout is a good way to remove any anxiety or stress from the body. Just an hour of sweating takes off a lot of stress for me.”

2. How She Stays Fit

Leal focuses on dance, kickboxing, and Pilates to stay fit. “I took to it because I felt like it was a graceful sport, kickboxing in general,” she says. “I got a good workout. I like feeling strong more than I like feeling thin. I like feeling like I can handle myself and feeling strong. So, I think I was attracted to boxing because it was sort of the epitome of the female’s strength – like learning how to spar with another person. It was just a hobby that I was really into. I still do a little bit of that now, but now I switched over to Pilates and I’m still taking dance classes, again, all in the spirit of being fit and strong.”

3. Frequency Healing

Infinite,Healing,Words,-,Healer's,Open,Palms,Reaching,Up,WithShutterstock

Leal is a proponent of alternative wellness. “I’ve recently been getting into frequency healing,” she says. “I do yoga on my own. I’ll put on frequencies and the concepts. There are different frequencies for different things, for anxiety, for spiritual growth, for sleep, etc. There is something called the miracle tone. So, that’s something that I am heavily into and that I feel has kept me really balanced and connected. It’s a good way to self heal and a very natural way by just using tones. I’m a big believer in it. It has helped me a lot!”

4. Inspired By Lena Horne

Lena Horne in Stormy WeatherJohn Springer Collection/CORBIS/Corbis via Getty Images

Leal has many talented women she is inspired by. “I think that part of the reason I even began to do what I do is because I saw somebody doing it. I remember seeing Lena Horne in Stormy Weather and thinking oh my God! I wanted to be like her,” she says. “Diana Ross, Tina Turner, the seed that was planted in me early on was planted by someone else. Because of someone else’s performance, something that I saw in them moved me and inspired me. I’m still a consummate fan. If I see something, I’m affected by it the same way.”

5. The Simple Life

Leal lives a low-key life when she’s not working. “I don’t like a lot of hoopla or sitting in a makeup chair for too long,” she says. “It’s just not natural for me, although I suppose that when people see me all glammed up, they might naturally assume that that’s who I am. On the carpet we have to maintain this illusion of being really glamorous, but I couldn’t be further from that image in real life. I’m most comfortable keeping things simple.”

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Sophie Piper is embracing island life – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her fantastic figure in a swimsuit during a tropical vacation at Kandima Maldives with Josh Ritchie. “Island life,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps taken at the picturesque resort. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Doesn't Go Under the Knife

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Tammy Hembrow is a fitness influencer and expert. She has her own app, called Tammy Fit. Hembrow has a lot of challenges on her app. Recently, she advertised a challenge with a workout video on Instagram. Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. (Sign ups are still open if you haven’t joined yet - there’s still time to catch up!! - link in bio). Soooo happy seeing so many of my girlies (and guys) in this challenge doing it with me!! And I CANNOT wait to see everyone’s results at the end of the 8 weeks. We got thissss 💪🏼”

She Does Pulldowns

Hembrow is seen doing pulldowns in her Instagram video. Piedmont reports that pulldowns have a lot of benefits. “The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the latissimus dorsi muscle, the broadest muscle in your back. This muscle promotes good posture and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and reap the best results.”

She Lifts Weights

Tammy Hebrew is seen using dumbbells.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen doing a lot of exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”

She Loves Bananas

Tammy Hebrew has a banana snack.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen enjoying bananas in her “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. The Cleveland Clinic states that bananas have a lot of benefits. “A single medium-sized banana offers about 32 mg of the mineral magnesium, which fulfills around 8% to 10% of your daily magnesium requirement. Magnesium is involved in many processes in your body, including: Blood pressure. Blood sugar levels. Building proteins. Maintaining bone. Muscle function. Nerve function.”

She Loves Cottage Cheese

Tammy Hebrew's snack the contains banana and cottage cheese.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen enjoying her bananas with cottage cheese in the previous Instagram video. Cottage cheese is very healthy. UCLA Health reports, “Cottage cheese’s protein content and low calories make it an ideal food for weight management. Research shows that whether you are trying to lose weight or reduce your risk of overweight or obesity, eating a high-protein diet can help you feel full and satisfied for longer.”
