Valentina Sampaio Poses In Bikini For Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s Pride Post

The trans model was featured in a post honoring Pride Month

Valentina Sampaio is a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community. Last year, she became the first transgender model to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Prior to that, she was the first transgender model to appear in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. In honor of Pride Month, SI Swim shared a bunch of their LGBTQ models on Instagram, which included Valentina. In the photo, Valentina wore a black bikini looking stunning. SI Swim included a quote from her in the photo, which read, “I look in the mirror and I feel feminine. I feel sensitive, and I feel strong. It’s a mixing of everything.” Here’s how Valentina Sampaio looks runway and photoshoot ready at all times.

She Wants To Inspire Others

Valentina wants to be a role model for her community. “I’m not working for myself, but for everyone,” she explains to POPSugar. “For everyone who, like me, faced prejudice and discrimination just for being who we are, it means everything to me. It made me feel seen, accepted, and valued for who I am as a person. And as a professional. It was a huge step forward in celebrating the right of my community to live and work with dignity.”

She’s All About Self-Love

Valentina is all about self-love and having confidence in herself. She tells POPSugar that this helped when she was walking the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. “I think the secret is to keep in mind that we are all beautiful, bringing your self-esteem as high as possible, only thinking positive things, and bringing good energy for yourself.”

She Doesn’t Use A Lot Of Heat On Her Hair

Valentina has amazing hair and she makes sure to take care of it. She tells POPSugar that she tends to not use a lot of heat on her hair during her downtime. “Because of my job, I get a lot of heat styling done, so I’m always using heat protection,” she says. “And when I’m not working, I try not to use heat on my hair. I just let it dry naturally.”

She Takes Care Of Her Skin

Valentina shared her morning skincare routine in an interview with Marie Claire. “In the morning, I wash my face with this cleansing that’s from Brazil—I don’t think you guys have it in the United States. After that, I go in with SkinCeuticals Blemish Solution Toner and a vitamin C serum, usually from La Roche Posay or ISDIN. I feel so good with vitamin C because it gives me really glowy skin. I love the Shiseido Moisturizing Cream. Then I use the sunscreen from La Roche Posay or even from Elta MD. That’s it, that’s my morning regime.”

She Loves Fruit

Valentina makes sure to eat a healthy diet. She tells Marie Claire that one food group she loves is fruit. “After boxing, I have toast with scrambled eggs and some fruit. A tangerine, or mango, or a banana—I try to have five different types of fruit throughout the day. I love papaya; that’s something that I miss from Brazil. We have better berries in New York though.”
