Kairi Sane captioned her gym photo series, “#workout 🔥” as she hits it hard in the gym. The Japanese professional wrestler and actress has made her name known for her performances in the WWE. As a professional wrestler, working out is obviously a huge part of her life, and her career. What exactly does she do to stay so fit and healthy, maintaining her level as a fierce competitor and a member of Damage CTRL? Here are some of Kairi’s go to habits.
1. She fights through the nerves
She works through those nervous feelings and pushes herself. “Yes, I was nervous,” she said while talking to Muscle & Fitness Hers about her MYC win, the NXT Championship match, leaving Japan to pursue the WWE, and more, specifically referring to the finals against Shayna Baszler. “I would say half nervous, half excited. But I would also say many of the athletes I encountered were also very strong. At the end, I was proud of myself to be one of the finalists, and then I had to believe in myself, and I did my best,” she said.
2. She’s confident
She’s confident in her decisions with the WWE. “It’s been about six years since I started this, and more recently I had an opportunity to go overseas,” she said. “I observed that even with the language barriers, people, the audience, they are happy to watch me perform and then they cry for me sometimes. That made me feel, “Well going overseas is great!” I actually enjoy it very much. Also, WWE is an organization that has a lot of athletes I respect. I had been always watching WWE tournaments when I lived in Japan.” According to the Cleveland Clinic, “self-image change occurs over a lifetime. A healthy self-image starts with learning to accept and love ourselves.”
3. She has a past with sailing
She has done other activities in the past to stay fit, including sailing. “When I was a university student, I won a sailing competition and participated in the World Championships as a representative of Japan. That's why I was given the nickname "Pirate Princess."⛵️The photo shows the sea in Bulgaria,” she said on Instagram, captioned on a blurry photo of her sailing.
4. She does burpees
She shares workouts on Instagram of her doing strength training, conditioning, and plenty of burpees. According to the Cleveland Clinic, “burpees are brutally efficient as a workout tool, meshing cardio and strength training into an extremely high-intensity package. In seven simple movements, the exercise works your body from top to bottom.”
5. She trains and trusts the coaches
She trusts her team and that their decisions and guidance will lead to her improving. “I went to the WWE performance center to train there, and there’s the ring training and the gym training separately,” she said. “The coaches there are wonderful. I respect them so much and I completely trust them. They even give advice on what I eat and my diet, so I believe that the training I’m getting here is even better than what I was getting in Japan.”
