Taylor Sheridan’s TV western Yellowstone has proved to be a runaway hit—and the same can be said for the two spinoffs 1883 and 1923. With a stellar cast including Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill, the two Paramount hit shows showcase talent that represents the entire spectrum of age and experience. How do they do it? Here are the ways 15 Yellowstone spinoff cast members stay fit, healthy, and camera-ready.

1. Marley Shelton

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,Marley,Shelton,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Dawn Olivieri, 42, plays Claire Dutton on 1883. The actress loves working out outdoors. "I tend to be most inspired to work out within a location that contains something impressive," she says. "The mountains, a sunrise, a sunset, a waterfall, the ocean. You can pull energy from them while you do your exercises."

2. Julia Schlaepfer

Julia,Schlaepfer,Attends,1923,Tv,Series,Exhibition,At,Paley,CenterShutterstock

Julia Schlaepfer, 28, plays Alexandra on 1923. The actress embraces her physique, and has learned to have confidence in her style. “Bodies are meant to change, so I think that’s beautiful,” she says. “I wore a Paolo Sebastian dress to The Politician première], and I was worried because it showed a lot of cleavage. Then I thought, ‘This is crazy. We all have ’em!’

3. Isabel May

Los,Angeles,-,Oct,26:,Isabel,May,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Isabel May, 22, plays Elsa Dutton on 1883. The actress enjoys the natural look which is part of her role. "Taylor [Sheridan] said from the very beginning, 'I want everything to be authentic.' I mean, women didn't start shaving until the 1920s,” she says. “He really wanted that to be an aspect of the show, and so I was more than happy to oblige. I'm lucky to be a part of it. I don't really know how I've had this opportunity. It's difficult to find such depth and growth in a character especially at her [Elsa] age, considering the genre as well, being a Western it's usually from a male perspective."

4. Helen Mirren

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,Helen,Mirren,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Helen Mirren, 78, plays Cara Dutton on 1923. The legendary actress recommends moderation when it comes to diet. “Take control of your diet and find what makes you feel good,” she says. “I’m the first one at the fish and chips, but what you’re putting inside your body does influence how you feel about yourself, so start there.”

5. Harrison Ford

Los,Angeles,-,Jan,26:,Harrison,Ford,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Harrison Ford, 81, plays Jacob Dutton on 1923. The actor avoids eating meat and dairy, and sticks to fish and vegetables. "I just decided I was tired of eating meat," he says. "And I know it’s not really good for the planet and it’s not really good for me."

6. Aminah Nieves

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,Aminah,Nieves,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Aminah Nieves, 27, plays Teonna Rainwater on 1923. The actress is passionate about the power of meditation. “I knew that in order to be part of the industry, I needed to focus on my mental health and change the way I viewed myself,” she says. “My best advice for anyone is to try meditation. Use the gift of the medicine that is around you, harness the beauty that we tend to take for granted, and be as forgiving of yourself and others as nature is of us. Step into that fear and demand that it listens to you.”

7. Jerome Flynn

Los,Angeles,-,Jul,12:,Jerome,Flynn,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Jerome Flynn, 60, plays Banner Creighton on 1923. The actor follows a vegan diet. “I went vegan, but I found it very hard to be vegan at that time – I didn’t really know myself how to look after myself in terms of plant protein and it started to drive me a bit mad, so I came off the vegan train and was vegetarian, but I was practically vegan,” he says. “I stayed with goat’s cheese, thinking naively that there was less cruelty involved in the goat industry. But then, my friend, the wonderful Juliet Gellatley [founder and director of vegan charity Viva] came to stay and shared a campaign she was doing about the goat farming industry. It made it very explicit the kind of terrible cruelty that was going on, so I came off and I’ve been vegan since.”

8. Timothy Dalton

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,Timothy,Dalton,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Timothy Dalton, 77, plays Donald Whitfield on 1923. Dalton is an accomplished dancer, and has shown off his skills on The Crown. “I’m your man for a waltz and I’ve even danced the tango with Jennifer Connelly in The Rocketeer, without music I have to say,” he says. “But this one was all changing beats and rhythms and the rest of it. It’s not something I was confident about and had Lesley [Manville] known how unconfident I was, as she was hurtling through the air with her feet off the ground, she wouldn’t have done it.”

9. Jennifer Ehle

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,Jennifer,Ehle,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Jennifer Ehle, 53, plays Sister Mary on 1923. The actress says she learned to cook while staying in Scotland for her wedding. “Every day I got some cookbooks from the library in Blairgowrie,” she says. “I’d never really done much cooking, but we’d pick out what I’d make and then we’d walk into town to the grocery store and the butcher and the fishmonger, buy whatever it was, then I’d go home and cook and practice. We ate well and walked a lot. Our landlords called us the dormice because we were so in love and so happy we were hunkered down and they didn’t see us very much. It was very romantic and lovely.”

10. Michelle Randolph

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,Michelle,Randolph,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Michelle Randolph, 25, plays Elizabeth Strafford on 1923. The actress fully embraced the ranch outdoors lifestyle during filming. “We were riding horses on our off days and spending time together,” she says. “I actually have gone back and forth about [the idea of what place I feel suits me most] a lot. I kind of confuse myself. I love cities, I love the hustle and bustle and how everything is available and right there. At the same time, I think I am happiest, not to sound cliché, but when I’m in nature. It just feels like you’re taking a step back and the real priorities in life are health and wellness and you can meditate and not hear cars honking [laughs]! I do think it’s a balance. I could spend 6 months in Montana and then I need 6 months in the city too. I’d like to think of myself as a well-rounded person in that regard.”

11. James Badge Dale

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,James,Badge,Dale,Arrives,ForShutterstock

James Badge Dale, 45, plays John Dutton Sr. on 1923. Dale is no stranger to hardcore training and diets for a role. “If I run six miles every day, I burn 1,200 calories and I’m at zero,” he says. “I’ve been eating a lot of vegetables, chicken, fish, nuts and berries. I eat like a bird.”

12. Tim McGraw

Las,Vegas,,Nv,-,April,2,,2017:,Tim,Mcgraw,AtShutterstock

Tim McGraw, 56, plays James Dutton on 1883. The singer works out with his whole team when he’s on tour. “We do a big CrossFit training session in the afternoon that usually goes from an hour to an hour and a half. It depends on how everybody holds up,” he says. “It starts with 10 or 15 people; it ends with four or five sometimes. That’s our afternoon workout. Then we go get showered up and have dinner, and get ready to do a show.”

13. Faith Hill

Las,Vegas,,Nv,-,April,02,,2017:,Faith,Hill,AtShutterstock

Faith Hill, 55, plays Margaret Dutton on 1883. The singer enjoys a healthy, protein-packed diet. "I don't diet but I do watch what I eat," she says. 14. LaMonica Garrett

Shutterstock

LaMonica Garrett, 48, plays Thomas on 1883. The actor works hard to stay fit and strong. “I do maybe four days per week,” he says. “It will be different each day. If I’m doing legs, I’ll do core. If I’m doing back, I’ll work my core another way. If I’m doing chest, I’ll do core another way, so just something with core every day, and diet. You know, abs, or most of it is nutrition in the kitchen, so I just have to modify the way I eat and it helps.”

15. Sam Elliott

Hollywood,,Ca,Usa,-,Feb,24,2020:,Sam,Elliott,ArrivesShutterstock

Sam Elliott, 78, plays Shea Brennan on 1883. The actor refuses to allow technology to run his life. “I don't have email,” he says. “Twitter, Facebook — everywhere you look, people are looking at their hands. In restaurants, it's like you're sitting in a patch of jack-o'-lanterns because everyone's face is lit up by their phone. Nobody's relating to each other.”

Faith Hill

Faith Hill played Margaret Dutton on 1883. She talked about her wellness secrets in an interview with SELF. "Some days it's harder to get myself moving than others, but it has such a positive impact on my day. I have more energy throughout the day and feel better overall. I also try to drink 70 to 90 ounces of water a day. It is so good for you, inside and out."

Kylie Rogers

Kylie Rogers plays young Beth Dutton on Yellowstone. She talked about her love of acting in an interview with Schon Magazine. “I’m still so passionate about acting and my passion is still just the same as when I was a kid, when I was just like, ‘Let’s make movies!’ [Laughter] I’m genuinely so excited about everything every day. But, in terms of my process, I am now, obviously, more capable of understanding the characters, what they’re going through, and the emotions they’re feeling. I can understand more in-depth what’s going on there and why they’re like that. Whereas, when I was a kid, I would just try to and I’d be like, ‘Oh, she’s sad in this scene,’ you know what I mean? But, I wouldn’t fully understand why she was sad. I’ve definitely been able to grasp a good understanding of characters.

Hassie Harrison

Hassie Harrison plays Laramie on Yellowstone. She shared her wellness routine in an interview with Modeliste Magazine. “I take a lot of walks to exercise my body, spend time with friends and family to fill my heart, read and listen to audiobooks and podcasts to stay informed and make sure to get a lot of vitamin D! As an extra bonus, I also love a good facemask.”

Piper Parebo

Piper Perabo arrives to the premier of Season 5 of "Yellowstone."

Piper Perabo plays Summer Higgins on Yellowstone. She talked about the importance of having confidence in an interview with Into The Gloss. “I think for myself, what shines through the best is when you feel good about yourself, you know what I mean? Confidence. It comes from a psychological place: how you feel about yourself and what you want to put out there initially, and then after that, I think it comes from a nutritional place—what you eat really affects how you look, and the better you are to your body, the better you feel, and the better you look, and the better you feel about how you look.”

Jennifer Landon

Jennifer Landon plays Teeter on Yellowstone. In an interview with Naluda Magazine, she says that learning to fail was the best advice she’s received. “I was someone who didn’t try very much because I had a high batting average and was very afraid of failure. This didn’t allow me to work and grow. Learning to fail is still very hard for me, and it’s been at times the most freeing thing on earth. If I were to give advice, I would say, fuck talent – just do what you want and then do it again, and again, and again. The people I know who tried and failed the most are the most successful. And successful in every way in my book.”

Lainey Wilson

Singer Lainey Wilson plays Abby on Yellowstone. In an interview with Delish, she talked about how meal prepping helps her eat better. “I will say I feel like I’m becoming a little bit more prepared than I used to be,” she said. “I really do enjoy meal prepping and having things handy, because I feel like when you don’t have those things handy, that’s when you mess up and that’s when you eat something that makes you feel bad.”

Luke Grimes

Luke Grimes plays Kayce Dutton on Yellowstone. In an interview with Men’s Health, he talked about the importance of working out. “Gyms, for me, are more about the mental aspect of it than making sure I look good with my shirt off or whatever,” Grimes explained. “I mean, of course, I’d like to look good with my shirt off, but we all would. If I go a couple weeks without working out, I start to get real dark. So I have to — I just have to. I’m 40 years old now, so I know I have to get it done.”

Cole Hauser

Cole Hauser plays Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone. On the show, he does a lot of horseback riding, and it’s helped keep him in shape. Hauser talked about riding in an interview with GQ. “I grew up in Oregon riding, so from four to seven years old, I was on a horse. Now, doing Yellowstone for six months at a time, you get in horse-shape.”

Wes Bentley

Wes Bentley stars as Jamie Dutton on Yellowstone. He is open about being sober and his past struggles with addiction. Bentley talked about how he got clean and his desire to help others who are struggling in an interview with Men’s Health. “The way I attacked it was by being positive—I’m just gonna go talk about it to everybody and try to help others and heal that shame by doing something.”

Tim McGraw

Tim McGraw played James Dillard Dutton in 1883. In an interview with Men’s Journal, McGraw talked about the impotence of fitness in his life. "In my early 40s, when I really started taking it seriously, I started running a lot. That’s the first thing I started doing, and I found that made a big difference for me. It just started my day out better. I just realized how much it raised the bar on everything that I did. It raised the bar on my career. It raised the bar on my relationships with my friends. It just made me feel better, gave me a better mental outlook on everything that I was doing."

Ryan Bingham

Ryan Bingham plays Walker on Yellowstone. He talked about the importance of following your dreams in an interview with Arizona Foothills Magazine. “I just know that for me it was about trusting my gut. When you’re young and you’re out on your own, you have no home, no family; there’s nothing left to lose. I was forced to do what I had to out of survival. Sometimes it wasn’t the safest bet. Many times it didn’t work out and I learned the hard way. But I figured out where to go and not go, do and not do.”

2. Alana de la Garza

2019 CBS UpfrontManny Carabel/WireImage

Alana de la Garza talked about what she likes about starring in FBIin an interview. “There is something really relaxing about that creative process when you trust the people you work with and you’re able to perform. If you’re able to take words off a page and, luckily, the words that are on our pages are just incredible. The storytellers that we have that are writing these scripts are so good that you can trust that and you’re able to feel creatively complete by trusting the other characters on the show who are also your friends. There is something relaxing about that.”

3. Sela Ward

Los,Angeles,-,Sep,15:,Sela,Ward,At,The,2018Shutterstock

Sela Ward loves to swim to stay in shape. She shared this photo on Facebook of herself in the pool after doing laps. She captioned the photo, “Got my laps in for the day! Can someone hand me a towel, please?”

4. Zeeko Zaki

Los,Angeles,-,Aug,4:,Zeeko,Zaki,At,The,KindShutterstock

Zeeko Zaki talked about his weight loss in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "The craziest part was just being kind of a different person every year. You get like 10 lbs. a year, I wanted to do it slow," Zaki explained. "But my biggest tip and the thing that I walked away from was a little trick I learned from The 4-Hour Body by Timothy Ferriss — 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up. So give it a shot."

5. Vedette Lim

New,York,,Ny,-,November,01:,Ebonee,Noel,Attends,TheShutterstock

Ebonee Noel has worked with Dick Wolf in both FBI and Law & Order SVU. She talked about her process with playing her roles in an interview with One Chicago. “I tried to make the technical dialogue be as interesting as possible when delivering it, because I know some of the stuff, I got the script and it’s like what am I talking about here? If I don’t know what I’m talking about, the audience is going to have no idea what I’m talking about. So it’s just fleshing out that jargon and trying to find her joy in figuring these things out.”

7. Connie Nielsen

Los,Angeles,-,Nov,13:,Connie,Nielsen,At,The,WorldShutterstock

In a 2014 interview with Parade, Connie Nielsen talked about her diet. “For breakfast, I eat organic food with high fat content, such as whole milk yogurt, nuts, seeds, fresh fruit and a scrambled egg. I cook it in organic grape seed oil for its high omega content. I drink a cappuccino for its dose of milk and the coffee for its taste, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. At lunch, I might eat smoked salmon with a slice of Mozzarella di Bufala, made from the milk of domestic water buffalo, along with avocado.”

2. Norman Reedus

Los,Angeles,-,Mar,22:,Norman,Reedus,At,The,walking,deadShutterstock

Norman Reedus plays fan-favorite character Darryl Dixon, which lead to him getting a spin-off. He shared his fitness secrets with Men’s Journal. “I have a trainer in New York I use every so often when I’m getting ready to go back on the show. Nothing too specific. I just try to shed any holiday pounds and get my mind right. When I’m down there [in Atlanta], I have a gym in my house, so I try to work out when I can, but sometimes when you work so many hours all you can do is get home and fall on your face. I’m also running through the woods in 103° heat and my crossbow weighs a ton, and I’m always riding bikes and building things, so the pounds melt off.”

3. Lauren Cohan

Los,Angeles,-,Oct,23:,Lauren,Cohan,walking,deadShutterstock

Lauren Cohan played Maggie Greene on the show. She shared her fitness routine with Shape Magazine. "I am the queen of exercise variety. This week I was in L.A. and I took a Pure Barre class, went to Burn 60 [an interval workout class] twice, ran the track at UCLA, made it to the gym, and took a yoga class. I also really love to dance. I dance through workouts that aren't even about dancing! At home, all my furniture is pushed to the edges of my living room so that I can dance around the room.”

4. Danai Gurira

Los,Angeles,-,Feb,25:,Danai,Gurira,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Danai Gurira played the fan-favorite character, Michonne, on the show. She shared her approach to fitness with Women’s Health. “If I haven’t worked out, if I haven’t exercised and connected with my body in some way, it chips away at my feeling of well-being,” she says. “It might be lifting weights, it might be boxing, it might be something a little less intense. There’s no need to break records tomorrow. It’s just about slowly finding what feels good and what feels rewarding.”

5. Jeffery Dean Morgan

AMC, The Walking Dead, Jeffery, Dean, MorganFrazer Harrison/Getty Images

Jeffery Dean Morgan played the villainous Negan on the show. He and his wife, Hilarie Burton, live on a farm. Morgan tells Men’s Journal that he likes to chop wood. “I’m a little bit obsessed with it. I love an ax, but I recently got a log splitter, which has changed my life as I near 55.”

6. Melissa McBride

Los,Angeles,-,Sep,23:,Melissa,Mcbride,walking,deadShutterstock

Melissa McBride plays Carol Peletier on the show. She talked about the impact the show has had to AMC.com. “I think being a part of something that sort of just took over, it still has not quite settled in my mind. I understand how big the show is. I experienced how big it got and that's maybe why it's hard to fathom that I’m a part of it. It's bigger and more unexpected than I ever could have imagined, and I still have not quite grasped that I am indeed a part of this massive thing. I think one of these days, maybe even years from now, I will look back with a different perspective. You know, see the whole of it.”

7. Jon Bernthal

Los,Angeles,-,Jun,14:,Jon,Bernthal,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Jon Bernthal plays Shane Walsh on the show. He also stars on The Punisher and shared his workout secrets for the show with Men’s Journal. “Today we got up at 4 in the morning. Usually we’ll start with a little strength work, whether it is taking on squats or the bench press, doing five sets of three at the maximum weight. There’s a lot of supersetting, and bodybuilding weight practices. Then we work on a lot of MetCon [metabolic conditioning], doing as many rounds as we can, trying to get each movement just right. It will usually be about five or six full-body moves, like pull-ups or cleans. We’ll do that for somewhere around 20 minutes or so. Then in the afternoon we’ll do boxing or jiu jitsu workouts between scenes. I always want to box, but they really try to keep me working my whole body as much as possible. On top of that, learning the fights for the show or weapons training is almost a whole other workout on top of that. So it probably works out to three separate big, different workouts a day. It’s pretty gnarly.”

8. Christian Serratos

Los,Angeles,-,Sep,23:,Christian,Serratos,walking,deadShutterstock

Christian Serratos plays Rosita Espinosa on the show. She shared some of her skincare secrets with The Cut. “I started double-cleansing probably around the time my daughter was born, because I noticed that when I would wipe my face dry on a towel after cleansing, I still had makeup around my hairline or the edges of my face. And I was mostly annoyed with the fact that the makeup was getting on my towels.”

9. Michael Rooker

Los,Angeles,-,Aug,03:,Michael,Rooker,walking,deadShutterstock

In addition to playing Merle Dixon on The Walking Dead, Michael Rooker also plays Yondu in the Guardians of The Galaxy franchise. He talked about doing his own stunts with Smashing Interviews. “I didn’t do a lot of major action stuff in this one. I like doing physical stuff, but this was easy enough for me. I really didn’t have many major fights. Yondu is just … you don’t want to mess with this cat. His weapon of choice is pretty powerful, so you don’t want to screw around with the guy. He’s a tough old boy.”

10. Alanna Masterson

Los,Angeles,-,Oct,3:,Alanna,Masterson,walking,deadShutterstock

Alanna Masterson plays Tara Chambler on the show. After having her daughter, Masterson was subjected to body-shaming. However, she hit back on Instagram. “Dear Instagram trolls, body shamers, and the men and woman who think it's ok to comment on my weight: I hope that you don't have children. And if you do, I hope you teach them about kindness and acceptance. I hope they learn that it isn't ok to make fun of people or call people names.”

11. Khary Payton

Los,Angeles,-,Sep,13:,Khary,Payton,walking,deadShutterstock

Khary Payton played Ezekiel on the show. He shared how he stayed in shape on the show to Muscle and Fitness. “We film in Atlanta where it’s hot and humid, and I lose weight if I’m not doing something. So I have this CrossFit-style regimen that’s just 20 minutes. I do five pullups, 10 pushups, and 15 body-weight squats. I do as many rounds as I can in 20 minutes. By the time I get halfway through, I’ve got to cheat on the pullups. By the time I’m done, I’m in a pool of sweat on the floor. My best is nine rounds.”

12. Austin Amelio

Shutterstock

Austin Amelio played Dwight on the show. In an interview, he revealed that he has adopted a vegan diet. “I watched that documentary ‘What the Health’ ten days ago, and the next day I was like, ‘I’m done.’ It’s been 10 days, completely vegan the whole entire time, and I feel better than I felt like in years.”

13. Tom Payne

Los,Angeles,-,Jan,09:,Tom,Payne,walking,deadShutterstock

Tom Payne, who played Jesus, works with trainer Tom Fitzgerald on his diet and exercise. Fitzgerald told The Hollywood Reporter that Payne eats a lot of protein. “Most people would need a period of ‘cutting in’ after a program like this,” Fitzgerald explains. “However, Tom has such a fast metabolism that just keeping up the calories is the main challenge; losing fat in order to show muscular definition happens almost automatically.”

14. Lauren Ridloff

Lauren,Ridloff,Attends,The,Paley,Center,For,Media's,2019,PaleyfestShutterstock

Lauren Ridloff played Connie on the show. She revealed to Shape that she is training to run the New York City Marathon, and shared her reasons for doing so. "It was more about meditation," she says. "It was about reentering myself and problem solving, troubleshooting, all of those things...You know, my mind just wanders [when I run]. I never know where it's gonna go, which is quite nice."

15. Steven Yuen

Shutterstock

Steven Yuen played fan-favorite character, Glenn Rhee. He told The Guardian that he wants to represent the Asian community through his work. “Where I try and speak from as an actor is always feeling, I guess, isolated. I warred with that for a lot of my life – of feeling disconnected from a system, a majority, or a group. I deeply wanted to connect, so I would bend and twist and break myself to try and conform.”

1. Daniella Alonso

Los,Angeles,-,Jun,25:,Daniella,Alonso,At,The,NalipShutterstock

Daniella Alonso played Catherine Belen on the show’s first season. She shared her advice for aspiring actors with Felix Magazine. “You hear it all the time, but looking at the business side and how choices get made, always believe in yourself and your ability. You are where you need to be, what you are is what you are and someone will eventually see that and want to work with you. Don’t try to fit into a mold. Be present and be happy with where you are. Roles come and go; in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter. Just try to be happy.”

2. Scott Speedman

Scott Speedman "Sharp Stick" PremiereTommaso Boddi/Getty Images

Before playing Baz Blackwell, Scott Speedwan was a competitive swimmer. He talked about stepping away from the sport to Men’s Journal. “Anybody who does any sort of sport intensely at any age has repetitive stress injuries and that's basically all it was. It was kind of a nerve injury and I think the non-medical term for what I had was ‘arm burnout,’ just from over-training. I was a distance swimmer, a miler, freestyle, and the training back then was definitely very intense. I had a good couple of years of competing at a prime age and then my arm just kind of gave out. I've told this story many times, but it was definitely one of the best things that has happened to me.”

3. Leila George

London,,United,Kingdom,-,November,27,,2018:,Leila,George,AttendsShutterstock

Leila George played the younger version of Smurf on the show. She talked about staying driven to work with Body & Soul. “I like living in a house with a roof. And sometimes you need money for that. That's really it. It's also allowed me to be pickier with what I choose to do. And I'd rather spend my time working, doing that, than doing jobs that maybe I'm not in love with. I like the structure of having a work schedule. I like earning my own money.”

4. Molly Gordon

Los,Angeles,-,May,13:,Molly,Gordon,At,The,"booksmart"Shutterstock

In addition to being Nicky Belmont on the show, Molly Gordon has started directing. She notably directed Theater Camp. Gordon talked about this with Shondaland.com. “All I want to do is make things that are original and authentic and maybe stranger. And it feels like that’s kind of what’s at stake right now — can you get paid to make good work, and can you make a living wage as a writer, as an actor? But also like, how do we get people to come and see these things? I think the only thing we can do is try to make bolder, weirder things and not just the same thing over and over again.”

5. Ellen Barkin

New,York,,Ny,-,May,16,,2018:,Ellen,Barkin,AttendsShutterstock

Ellen Barken played the lead role of Smurf Cody. She talked about sexism in the acting world to InStyle. “One of the best benefits of getting older is that I no longer feel guilty about protecting myself. That’s a big thing in my job because the gender disparity is outrageous. I don’t think there’s a working actress alive who I wouldn’t call a badass. It’s a hard job, made even harder by being a woman.”

6. Ben Robson

Beverly,Hills,,Ca.,October,26,,2018:,Ben,Robson,At,TheShutterstock

Ben Robson, who plays Craig Cody, talked about getting in shape for the role to Men’s Journal. “I definitely adapted my training for this. I knew it was very aggressive so I took up boxing and got myself a trainer. Boxing is something I've always enjoyed doing, but I've went into it a lot more and really learned how to do it. That's obviously an incredible workout, and it’s totally addictive as well because you start getting better and better with the combos, the flow, and the routine. At the same time, I'm in the gym doing different routines. I manage to do some circuit training, then be out in about an hour. After the gym, you feel sort of strong and good about yourself, but it's not something I enjoy doing for hours on end.”

7. Darren Mann

Los,Angeles,-,Dec,02:,Darren,Mann,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Darren Mann played Baz Blackwell in flashbacks on the show. He talked about his upbringing to The Vancouver Sun. “Growing up I had an older brother (Tyler Mann) that took me absolutely everywhere with him and we didn’t have a dad growing up. My mom (Lenore Mann) had to work whatever job she could so we could play hockey and stuff. I was really blessed with a really great role model of a brother. In some ways I actually got to channel a little bit of my own brother and what that was like.”

8. Shawn Hatosy

Shawn Hatosy 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards - ArrivalsAmy Sussman/Getty Images

Shawn Hatosy plays Pope Cody on the show. He talked about his training process with Muscle & Fitness. “If I have the time, I’ll lift for an hour and try to hit every muscle. Let’s say I’m doing bench presses. I’ll do a set, and then I’ll stay active by doing some situps on the decline bench, and then I’ll do air squats or something, and then I’ll go back to the bench and do another set. I try to keep moving. And if I’m not able to play tennis that day, I’ll do at least 30 minutes of cardio after I’m done lifting weights.”

9. Jake Weary

Los,Angeles,-,Jun,8:,Jake,Weary,At,The,AnimalShutterstock

Jake Weary opened up about playing the villainous Jake Dunmore on the show to Ravelin Magazine. “If the villain can be endearing and make the audience root for them and yet still have that menacing nature and mal-intent, it can be very rewarding. There are times where I tend to feel lost when portraying my character on Animal Kingdom, which is basically about a family of looting sociopaths. However, there tend to be these ‘aha’ moments where, despite the awful things my character does, I can still find the humanity in his actions.”

10. Emily Deschanel

Los,Angeles,-,Jul,09:,Emily,Deschanel,Arrives,For,Disney'sShutterstock

Emily Deschanel had a recurring role of Angela Kane. She is a vegan, and talked about her diet to Garden Of Life. “I’m definitely more aware of the fact that there are a lot of things which are not good for your bones. For instance, if your body doesn’t get proper nutrition, it will actually leach what it needs from the bones and cause problems. Once, when I was filming a scene, my character was supposed to offer someone a soda to drink. I said we couldn’t do that because soda is not good for your bones!”

11. Jennifer Landon

New,York,,Ny,-,October,30,,2018:,Jennifer,Landon,AttendsShutterstock

Jennifer Landon played Amy Wheeler on the show. She also has a role on Yellowstone, and talked about going riding on the show to TVFanatic.com. “We actually did all of it. Our great stunt people tested everything out first. I think they rolled on some of those. I think they ended up using our tape. That horse did charge at me. Those horses were stomping around. That water was freaking cold. And then we drifted downriver like that.”

1. Amandla Stenberg

Los,Angeles-,Oct,21:,Amandla,Stenberg,Arrives,For,5th,AnnualShutterstock

Amandla Stenberg talked about playing a queer character in Bodies, Bodies, Bodies to them. “It’s such a relief to be able to express that part of my identity authentically through a character and not have to conform to a different expression that is not authentic to me. What was so fun as an actor, and also as a producer, was being able to explore all the nuances of queer relationships through these characters — and being able to use my own experience and my understanding. The minutiae that I feel like we have experienced as queer people could be hilarious or meaningful. It was such a joy.”

2. Maika Monroe

Los,Angeles,-,Jan,21:,Maika,Monroe,At,The,24thShutterstock

Maika Monroe has starred in several horror movies, notably, It Follows and The Guest. She talked about how she handles those roles in an interview with IndieWire. “I’ve learned that for me, for my mental health, I have to be able to let go of it at the end of the day. A lot of the movies that I do are very dark and very intense, and it doesn’t do me any good to live in that space for longer than I needed to. For these movies, I want the characters to be grounded as possible, so to do that, [I have] to pull from my own traumas and my own experiences and that obviously is very overwhelming. But, for me, it is very important to be able to let go.”

3. Elizabeth Lail

Los,Angeles,-,Sep,10:,Elizabeth,Lail,At,The,2018Shutterstock

Elizabeth Lail has starred in Countdown and You. She shared some of her skincare secrets with Byrdie. “I’m trying to introduce more clean beauty into my routine. But more than anything I want something that works. So I also really love Murad. Their eye cream is amazing. As far as makeup, I feel like a clown when I have too much on so I like to keep it simple. I just spot correct with Clé de Peau concealer. And then I use a lot of Beautycounter because it’s a clean beauty brand. I have their mascara, brow gel, and sunscreen stick, which is great on the go. I’m just constantly on Instagram buying the next thing I see… for better or for worse.”

4. Florence Pugh

Los,Angeles,-,Jan,12:,Florence,Pugh,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Florence Pugh is known for roles in horror films like Midsommar and Don’t Worry Darling. She tells ELLE that she doesn’t believe in losing weight for roles. "I'm never losing weight to look fantastic for a role," she said. "It's more like: How would this character have lived? What would she be eating?"

5. Jessica Rothe

Jessica,Roth,Attends,The,World,Premiere,Of,"poms",At,RegalShutterstock

Jessica Rothe is known for her role in the Happy Death Day series. She tells The Hollywood Reporter that she loves to cook. “One of my favorite recipes that I made a million times during quarantine is Instant Pot zucchini bolognese. It’s a spin on the one that Meghan Markle made famous, but it has Italian sausage in it. I think it’s Italian sausage, zucchini, onion and garlic. It’s so easy and it’s so delicious. But I get it. It’s a weird, very moist, squishy vegetable. I think you just have to make sure you prepare it right.”

6. Tessa Thompson

Santa,Monica,,Ca,-,June,16,,2018:,Tessa,Thompson,AtShutterstock

Tessa Thompson has starred in films like Annihilation. She also starred in the Thor film series, and did her own stunts for them. She talked about this in an interview with Comic Book Resources. "It felt great! Yeah, it felt great. Particularly for the five months that I was there, and I was working on the stage where did all the stunt choreography and the likes of folks like Chris Hemsworth. It felt good to be able to be on par with everyone around me."

7. Bailee Madison

New,York,,Ny,-,February,5,,2020:,Bailee,Madison,WearingShutterstock

Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark star Bailee Madison opened up about her skincare to Byrdie. “I am a big believer in no makeup as much as I can. Set makeup is the worst because you're caked in as much powder as possible. My hair is the longest it's ever been because it's usually so damaged, but it hasn't had that much heat on it these days, and I do hair masks. And for my skin, I try to give it skin breathers. I'm old school like that from my mom. It's not that fancy, y'all! But I do love a good jade roller, though."

8. Emma Roberts

Los,Angeles,-,Nov,12:,Emma,Roberts,Arrives,For,Baby2babyShutterstock

Emma Roberts is one of the stars of the horror series, American Horror Story. She talked about her workout routine to InStyle. “I started working out regularly when I was living in New Orleans shooting American Horror Story: Coven several years ago,” she said. “I really fell in love with the food there. To counter all I was eating, I worked out more. It was a great balance: I'd have fried-chicken sliders at night and then go to my yoga class the next morning."

9. Jane Levy

Los,Angeles,-,Feb,06:,Jane,Levy,Jane,Levy,ArrivesShutterstock

Jane Levy’s horror credits include Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe. She shared her skincare secrets in an interview with Glamour. “At night I wash my face with oil first to get rid of the makeup. There is an oil I use as face wash from Living Libations, the frankincense smell. And then after, I use the Weleda cleansing milk, which you can get at a natural food store. If I’m not wearing makeup, I usually only wash it with one or the other, but if I’m wearing makeup, I use the oil first to break down the makeup, and then the Weleda.”

10. Samara Weaving

Shutterstock

Samara Weaving is best known for her roles in Ready or Not and The Babysitter. She shared her diet secrets with Marie Claire. “As cliché as it sounds, you’ve got to listen to your body. If I go for three days of just having fruit and vegetables, I’ll make a salad and a rice bowl for dinner and have lighter meals. The next three days I’ll have pasta and more carbs and eggs benedict for breakfast. I listen to my body and what am I really craving? As soon as you go, ‘I’m going to diet for two weeks,’ what you’re craving is what you set out not to have.”

11. Olivia Cooke

London,,United,Kingdom,-,March,19,,2018:,Olivia,Cooke,AttendsShutterstock

Ouija and The Quiet Ones star Olivia Cooke talked about her fitness routine to Byrdie. “I wish it wasn’t the case, but exercise feels like I’m shoveling serotonin and dopamine directly into my brain. It’s just a pain in the arse to force myself to do it. I can be slobbish and put it off for a few days or a week if I’m working, but then I really start to feel the effects of that mentally. Sometimes I'll do a half-hour to 45-minute blast, either following a video from Madfit on YouTube or a guided yoga class on Glo. Or, if I’m not in the mood to be told what to do, I’ll make it up as I go along listening to the radio.”

12. Joey King

Los,Angeles,-,Jan,31:,Joey,King,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

The Conjuring star, Joey King, talked about her morning routine to Byrdie. “I wake up, I pack my Gatorade and many liters of water. I eat a big breakfast: a bowl of oats with lots of fruit and some toast. I head to training, where I fuckin' go for it for a few hours. Then I have meetings to prepare for the rest of the film. Then I take a shower, shove myself in an ice bath, and then I am miserable while I'm doing that. But then I get out and sleep like a goddamn baby."

13. Haley Lu Richardson

Los,Angeles,-,Mar,4:,Haley,Lu,Richardson,At,TheShutterstock

Haley Lu Richardson is known for her role in the film Split. She talked about her skincare routine to Byrdie. “I'm very into my skincare routine and use products that are as natural as possible. I love Eminence Organics and use a face wash and exfoliator from the brand. I also use Derma-E's hyaluronic acid serum ($30). I love Starface pimple patches ($15), and then there's this brand called Squish that makes these gorgeous little floral patches with rhinestones at the center ($14). Fun pimple stickers are the best invention since sliced bread. I wish they existed when I was a teen because they make having acne fun.”

14. Sofia Boutella

Los,Angeles,-,Oct,20:,Sofia,Boutella,At,The,GoShutterstock

One of Sofia Boutella’s best known roles is for the horror film Climax. She shared her leg exercises in an interview with Coach Web. “The leg work I do is about performing one movement over and over again for long enough until the muscle goes numb – that’s when I know it’s working. It takes me around half an hour so I put on some music and repeat the exercise until I can’t feel myself doing it any more. It’s hardcore, but it’s worth it. The feeling of being able to kick with greater strength each day is empowering.”

15. Bella Thorne

Los,Angeles,,Ca,/,Usa,-,February,09,,2020:,BellaShutterstock

Bella Thorne has starred in Keep Watching and Amityville: The Awakening. On Twitter, she encouraged her followers to not weigh themselves. “Almost every day I have been to the gym in the last 6 weeks,” Thorne wrote. “Turns out I only lost one pound of fat and gained one pound of muscle.. throw away your scales ladies because they don’t mean s**t. As long as YOU feel better and u like the way u look that’s all that matters.”

Discover how elite CrossFit athlete Dani Elle Speegle stays in peak condition with weightlifting, golfing, jumping rope, hiking, and cold plunges.

Dani Elle Speegle isn’t just strong—she’s unstoppable. The elite CrossFit athlete and social media sensation has built a massive following by sharing her intense training sessions and inspiring fitness moments. Recently, she posted a series of weightlifting photos on Instagram, proving once again why she’s a powerhouse in the gym.

“Just a girl and her barbell,” she captioned the post, letting her strength do the talking. From lifting heavy to outdoor adventures, here’s how Speegle stays in peak condition.

She Lifts Weights

In her Instagram post, Speegle is seen lifting weights. According to ACE Fitness, doing this has a lot of benefits. “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

She Golfs

Speegle likes to golf to keep herself in shape. She shared a video of herself on the course in this Instagram post. According to Randa aerobic exercise. “Golf can help strength and balance, improve quality of life and provide aerobic exercise. On a regular 18-hole course, most players will walk between four and five miles, burning up to 2,000 calories.”

She's Into Jumping Rope

Speegle shared this video on Instagram of herself competing in Crossfit events. In it, she is seen jumping rope. According to The Cleveland Clinic, jumping rope has a lot of benefits. “Benefits of jump rope can help improve your coordination, get your heart rate going and help burn calories — and it’s an easy, affordable way to get some cardio in.”

She Hikes

Speegle likes to hike to keep herself in shape. She shared this photo on Instagram of herself hiking the Koko Head Summit. Speegle captioned the post, “Woke up and chose pain today. Every 45 min X 3 rounds: Koko head 💀💀💀 Then sat in my car and stared into the abyss while munching on Banan 🥲🥲🥲”

She Does Cold Plunges

Speegle makes sure to recover. One thing she likes to do is cold plunges. Speegle shared this video of herself jumping into a tub. According to The Mayo Clinic, these have a lot of benefits. “Research on cold-water immersion has found evidence that it helps reduce the degree of exercise-induced muscle damage that can occur after physically challenging activities. Less damage leads to less inflammation, which in turn reduces soreness and helps restore physical performance the next day. These benefits may be the result of rapid constriction of the blood vessels due to the cold water. The cold can trigger responses in your body, such as decreased metabolic activity, alterations in hormone production and blood flow, and activation of the immune system.”

Golfer Tvesa Malik in Two-Piece Workout Gear Shares "Awesome" Exercises

Discover how Tvesa Malik, SuperSport Ladies Championship winner, stays in peak shape with weightlifting, core work, and golf.

Golfer Tvesa Malik in Two-Piece Workout Gear Shares "Awesome" Exercises
Tvesa Malik / Instagram

Tvesa Malik isn’t just a pro golfer—she’s a powerhouse athlete dedicated to staying in peak shape. The SuperSport Ladies Championship winner knows that strength and endurance are just as important as skill on the course. That’s why she takes her fitness seriously, incorporating weightlifting, core work, and mobility exercises into her training.

Last year, Malik gave fans a look at her workout routine in an Instagram video, where she powered through hanging crunches, lunges, and weightlifting sessions. She captioned the post, “Got some major work to do before my next session,” proving that even elite athletes are always striving to improve. Here’s a closer look at how Malik keeps her body strong and ready for competition.

She Lifts Weights

Malik is seen doing a lot of weight lifting in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that this has a lot of benefits. “Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

She Does Lunges

Malik is seen shifting into lunges in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that lunges are a form of unilateral training, and that makes them effective. “Unilateral training is a more effective way to build functional strength (than using both legs) because these types of movement mimic other everyday motions, like walking and climbing stairs — and not just to the working leg. Research suggests the strength gains to the nonworking side are about half of the strength gains of the working side.”

She Does Core Workouts

Malik is seen doing core workouts, like hanging crunches in her Instagram video. Core workouts are extremely important. The Mayo Clinic says, “While it takes aerobic activity to burn fat in your stomach, core exercises can strengthen and tone the underlying muscles. Strong core muscles make it easier to do many activities. When your core muscles are strong, it's easier to swing a golf club, get a glass from the top shelf and bend down to tie your shoes.”

She Does Pull-Ups

An upper body workout that Malik likes to do is pull-ups. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing them at the gym. Malik captioned it, “Got some major work to do before my next session.” Asphalt Green says that pull-ups have a lot of benefits. “Pull-ups are a fantastic way to improve upper-body strength. This exercise primarily targets your back and biceps, but involves many stabilizing muscles in your core, arms, and shoulders. Depending on the way you grip the bar, you can even work your chest. Plus, you don’t need any fancy equipment to do a pull-up. Tree branches, scaffolding, and even door frames are all places people can do pull-ups.”

She Golfs

Golf is obviously one of the ways that Malik keeps herself in shape. Better Health says that the sport has a lot of benefits. “Golf can be good for your health and your heart. Walking an average course for a round of golf can be between five to seven kilometres. If you walk 18 holes three to five times a week, you’ll get an optimal amount of endurance exercise for your heart. If you pull your clubs or carry them, you’ll burn even more calories each round and benefit even more.”

Camila Guper / Instagram

Camila Guper is more than just a fitness influencer—she’s a motivation powerhouse. With 1.1 million Instagram followers, she inspires her audience with workout routines, wellness tips, and a disciplined approach to staying fit. Recently, she took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her latest gym session, including a stairclimber workout, a snapshot of her Apple Watch tracking her progress, and a post-workout mirror selfie in pink workout gear.

Her message? Consistency is key. “Don't underestimate the power of small, consistent actions! Every effort is worth it when you know where you want to go,” she captioned the post. From intense stair workouts to leg-sculpting exercises, here’s how Guper stays in top shape.

She Uses A Stairclimber

In her Instagram post, Guper is seen using the stairclimber. Stair workouts have a lot of health benefits. ACE Fitness says, “Improving metabolic health in terms of lower risks of heart problems and other complications, also by definition improves fitness. You can feel your heart working harder and the fire in your lungs when you ascend stairs. And that’s provoking important changes in your cardiorespiratory system that will make physical activities, like running and walking, feel easier.”

She’s Consistent

Guper makes sure to stay consistent with her workout routines. One way she does so is by staying disciplined. Guper talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Good morning! May we always have the discipline to do what is good for us. Amen 💪🏽🙏🏽✨ 40 min stair + shoulder and chest workout today.”

She Does Lunges

Guper shared some of her favorite lower body workouts in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is lunges. According to The Mayo Clinic, lunges have a lot of benefits. “The lunge is a body resistance exercise that works the leg muscles. Specifically, the lunge targets the quadriceps and the hamstring muscles in the thigh, the gluteal muscles in the buttock, and to a lesser extent, the lower leg muscles.”

She Does Leg Extensions

In the previous Instagram video, Guper is seen using the leg extension machine. Asphalt Green says that leg extensions have a lot of benefits. “These machines provide isolation exercises for your legs. This type of exercise works only one muscle or group of muscles, which means you can build up that part of your body quickly. If you want your thigh muscles to really stand out in those shorts you just bought, the leg extension machine is for you!”

She Spends Time Outside

Guper likes to spend time outside. She shared this set of photos on Instagram of herself enjoying a day by the pool with her dog. Guper captioned the post, “Good Morning! What book are you reading? 📖💚🐺🌮 I'm loving reading How to become super natural! I'm already sharing saying it's a must-read.”
