Lauralee Bell is sharing gratitude in her swimsuit. In a recent social media post the Young and the Restless star shows off her amazing body in a bathing suit while vacationing with her family. “Thank you family (and friends who are family) Spending time together is my favorite thing! 🏝️❤️All parents understand when kids go off to college and/or start having their own lives we wait for these moments to be together,” she captioned the Instagram video. How has the star, 54, approached health and wellness over the years? Celebwell rounded up her top health habits.

1. These Are the Two Secrets to Her Longevity

Balanced,Diet,-,Healthy,Food,On,Wooden,TableShutterstock

At 54, Bell maintains that two things are responsible for her longevity. “I have to just really eat well and lift weights and try to last,” she told Deadline.

2. Exercise Changes Her Face

Los,Angeles,-,Mar,17:,Lauralee,Bell,At,The,50thShutterstock

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times many years ago, Bell explained that exercise changed her face. “It sounds so strange but after working out, an awful lot changed. I lost baby fat. My face changed. My hairdresser asked if I had my eyes enlarged because suddenly they were so big on camera. I just changed,” she said.

3. Exercise Also Boosts Her Mind

Los,Angeles,-,Apr,29:,Lauralee,Bell,At,The,45thShutterstock

“It’s amazing. When you strengthen your body, you strengthen your mind. I became more independent. I became stronger, more vocal in terms of my beliefs,” she added about the mental benefits of breaking a sweat.

4. She Exercises a Few Times a Week

Shot,Of,A,Muscular,Young,Woman,In,Sportswear,Working,OutShutterstock

Bell said that she works out three times a week. “I eat differently now so I don’t have to work out as much. I get there 20 minutes before my trainer to walk the treadmill. And then I lift weights. I leg press a lot, close to 200 pounds. And I do barbells anywhere from 5 to 25 pounds. One day we’ll do shoulders and legs and then the next day we’ll do arms and butt. When I’m watching TV I’ll crank out 100 or 200 sit-ups during commercial breaks,” she added.

5. She Walks

Los,Angeles,-,Jun,23:,Lauralee,Bell,At,The,YoungShutterstock

She also walks on the treadmill and outside. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

6. She Eats Healthy

Bell detailed her diet to the Los Angeles Times. “At home I’ll have Shredded Wheat or Grape Nuts for breakfast--that to me is the biggest treat--and nonfat milk. Orange juice and coffee. If I’m [on the set] it’s very easy to order egg whites or granola or oatmeal,” she said. “Then for lunch I’ll bring turkey hot dogs and spinach and brown rice vegetable patties, which I heat up in the microwave, and a salad or vegetable. And I drink a lot of diet Coke. Dinner, I eat a lot of fish--like this weekend I had swordfish--and a lot of meat and chicken and vegetables. I just won’t have the potato or bread. I really like red and white wine. And every once in a while I have to do something like pizza or Doritos or Oreos. And I eat a lot of licorice.”

Melissa Claire Egan plays Chelsea Lawson. In an interview with Soap Central, she talked about her character’s storyline of struggling with mental health, and why she wants soaps to use more storylines. “It's massively important. And I think you can tell just from the fan reaction. People want to see themselves in these characters. And I think you can have a mix of both. It's very fun to have some love in the afternoon, it's fun to watch people with their scandalous love affairs and, you know, cheating on their husbands with his brother [laughs] and all of this stuff that we love to do that is very fun, good, juicy soap goodness. You can have that, but you can also have relatable stories of stuff that people are really struggling with in their real life. I think it's so important to have a balance of them both.”

2. Camryn Grimes

Los,Angeles,-,Jun,23:,Camryn,Grimes,At,The,YoungShutterstock

Camryn Grimes plays Mariah Copeland, and previously played Cassie Newman. She shared one of her favorite workouts in an interview. “I used to work as a rock-climbing instructor … really connected me to my body for the first time in my life,” Grimes said. “It’s such physical work, but it’s also a puzzle. You’re scaling it physically and it’s mentally stimulating. Everything fades away when you’re on a wall. All you can do is solve the next problem [in front of you]. It may not sound peaceful, but it is.”

3. Hayley Erin

Los,Angeles,-,Oct,16:,Hayley,Erin,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Courtney Hope plays Sally Spectra on the show. She shared her diet secrets in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “Right now, it’s about moderation in food and a healthy lifestyle. I’m in touch with my body, so when I eat something that makes me feel sluggish or tired or bloated, I know to avoid it. That’s an easy guideline for anyone to follow. I also have a few allergies, like to gluten and dairy, so I shy away from those, and I stick to whole foods as best I can, which includes veggies, fruits and proteins. And of course, I drink lots of water.”

6. Christel Khalil

Los,Angeles,-,Apr,29:,Christel,Khalil,At,The,45thShutterstock

She notably took a social media break in 2021, and shared why on Instagram. “I have to be honest, I had to take a break from the ‘Gram because I was feeling overwhelmed with feeling like I always had to say something, post something, or ‘use my platform’ for specific reasons and it became everything I am not about. I found myself scrolling aimlessly, feeling badly about myself from seeing what other people were doing and everything I wasn’t doing.”

7. Melissa Ordway

Los,Angeles,-,May,5:,Melissa,Ordway,At,The,2019Shutterstock

Melissa Ordway has played Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor since 2013. I find it important to eat what I want and then go to the gym and run on the treadmill. I'm lucky that I can do that so I don't have to do some crazy diet. I just try and do outdoorsy things and keep active.”

8. Brytni Sarpy

Los,Angeles,-,Mar,17:,Brytni,Sarpy,At,The,50thShutterstock

Brytni Sarpy has played Elena Dawson since 2019. I shop organically for the most part and try to eat mostly things that come from the earth.”

9. Zuleyka Silver

Los,Angeles,-,Mar,17:,Zuleyka,Silver,At,The,50thShutterstock

Zuleyka Silver has played Audra Charles since last year. She shared her fitness secrets with Soap Opera Digest. “I like to change up my workout because I get bored easily. I used to always do Pilates, which is still great, but I got bored. For cardio I either take a spin class or walk for an hour on an uphill-climb treadmill because I think it’s really important to get the blood flowing. I also get in a little bit of weight-lifting and strength training. I’m also trying to get outdoors more by hiking.”

11. Elizabeth Hendrickson

Los,Angeles,-,May,5:,Elizabeth,Hendrickson,At,The,2019Shutterstock

Elizabeth Hendrickson plays the recurring role of Chloe Mitchell. She is a soap opera veteran, and is very appreciative of all the support she’s received. “I learned early on from ALL MY CHILDREN that we really do owe everything to the fans,” she said to Soap Opera Digest. “They are so invested; sometimes they hate you, sometimes they love you, but they really stick by your side through thick and thin. Y&R has been on the air for 50 years and counting and I will never, ever take any of that for granted. I’m always so incredibly thankful for our fans. I’ve been in soaps for 20 years and besides my own business, I haven’t had another job. It’s not easy when people tell you that acting is not a way to survive and you can’t do it, but you know in your heart that you can. It’s the cheesiest thing, but follow your dreams because they do come true.”

12. Mishael Morgan

Los,Angeles,-,Aug,19:,Mishael,Morgan,At,The,YoungShutterstock

Mishael Morgan plays the recurring role of Amanda Sinclair, and previously played the recurring role of Hilary Curtis. She talked about how she approached auditioning to Soap Opera Digest. “I don’t know why, but I was really excited about it,” she said. “I guess it was all in the timing. I knew I was going to learn a lot because L.A. is so concentrated in entertainment. I also told myself that I didn’t have to get it right as soon as I arrived. It was just important to get here and see how I liked it. With that attitude, I wasn’t putting a lot of pressure on myself and it felt very positive.”

14. Michael Mealor

Los,Angeles,-,Aug,28:,Michael,Mealor,Arrives,For,TheShutterstock

Michael Mealor has played Kyle Abbott since 2018. He talked about his diet to Soap Opera Digest. “I wake up and have a [vitamin-rich] green powder drink every morning as I’m making my coffee, and I drink black coffee every day. That keeps me going until noon or 1 p.m., but I don’t follow any specific diet. My only two rules are moderation, so I don’t gorge myself, and I don’t eat anything that I know will make me feel terrible. With those two rules, I eat whatever I’m in the mood for.”

15. Joshua Morrow

Las,Vegas,-,Apr,6:,Joshua,Morrow,At,The,2014Shutterstock

Joshua Morrow, who plays Nicholas Newman, shared his workout secrets with Soap Opera Digest. “I simply rotate body parts. Some days are more designed for strength-building with a heavy lift, others with a high rep for toning and more of a high heart rate-based focus. So, I lift heavy for chest and back on Mondays, it’s heavy on legs on Tuesdays, followed by abs and attack bike, shoulders on Wednesday, followed by agility circuit, then arms on Thursday, followed with an ab circuit. Then it’s high rep legs again on Friday, and high rep chest and back on Saturday.”

For all the twists, turns and characters coming back from the dead, one thing remains consistent in the world of soap operas: the stars stay fit. After all, some cast members appear for decades at a time, and the audience craves familiarity; like any stars, the actors and actresses here have to remain recognizable. They do so with a combination of nutrition, exercise and mindfulness techniques, as well as a unique approach to a long-lasting career. As a result, these stars are iconic. Here are the wellness secrets from Kelly Ripa, Lisa Rinna, Susan Lucci and many more.

1. Kelly Ripa

Before becoming a TV host, Kelly Ripa appeared on All My Children as Hayley Vaughn. In an interview with Closer, she shared her favorite post-show breakfast. “What I will have is a green apple, cut up, and then I take two tablespoons of almond butter and a teaspoon of cinnamon. I blend it all together, I put the apples in there and then I eat that like a porridge, if you will. That is my first chewable food of the day.”

2. Galen Gering

Galen Gering plays Rafe Hernandez on Days Of Our Lives. He revealed to Soap Opera Digest that he does calorie deficiency. “You have to look at the overall calories that you’re putting into your body on a daily basis and really pay attention to that. Once you do that, you can figure out how you get a calorie deficit. You obviously have to burn more calories in a day than you’re putting in your body [in order to lose weight]. It’s a simple formulaic thing that a lot of people fail to do. Once you do that you’ll realize how much you’re snacking throughout the day and adding calories to that pile, when you may not even be hungry. For me, when I want to lose weight, that’s the first thing that I look at.”

3. Lisa Rinna

Lisa Rinna played Billie Reed on Days Of Our Lives. She shared her wellness secrets in an interview with People. Rinna says that she makes sure to do some exercise each day. “I just think it’s really good to move everyday. I really love the combination of SoulCycle and yoga. It keeps me balanced and sane.”

4. Shemar Moore

Shemar Moore played Malcolm Winters on The Young & The Restless. He shared how he got in shape for his role on S.W.A.T. to Men’s Health. “I gained 10 pounds. It changed my physique," said Moore. "I’m looking to gain more. It’s just hard with the schedule that we keep, when we are working 12-16 hour days. Ideally, I would like to be 200-205 pounds, so I can add more muscle. For me, that’s a good weight in terms of flexibility, being able to move, be nimble and do all the action.”

5. Eileen Davidson

Eileen Davidson plays Ashley Abbott on The Young & The Restless. She shared her hair and skin care secrets with Woman’s World. “I have gone the route of the super expensive before, but I guess I’ve just gotten kind of bitter. I’m wondering if it really makes a huge difference. So now, I use Cetaphil as a daily facial cleanser. I use Eucerin as a body lotion. Just your basic things. I do use Aveda hair products but every once in a while, I throw in Pantene. “

6. Lauren Koslow

Lauren Koslow plays Kate Roberts on Days Of Our Lives. She shared her fitness secrets with Soap Opera Digest. “In terms of exercise and diet, I find it helps to think in terms of health and wellness and not necessarily in terms of weight. Make it a decision to be in the most healthy condition that you can be in. Some of the tips along that line, especially if you’re thinking about a plant-based or more healthy diet, is when you’re at the supermarket, read labels. Also, try to shop the outside aisles of the market, where they have fruits and vegetables, and stay away from processed foods. Try to shop organic, when you can, or sustainable or local.”

7. Kirsten Storms

Soap Opera Digest Celebrates 40th Anniversary - ArrivalsPaul Archuleta/FilmMagic

Kirsten Storms has appeared on both General Hospital and Days Of Our Lives. She notably had to have brain surgery in 2021, and shared her gratitude for her loved ones and medical team on Instagram. "I feel very fortunate that my situation wasn't more serious and that I had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it," she said. "I'm not gonna lie, brain surgery had me nervous, but I'm immensely thankful to my family, friends, and incredible 'work family' who have been supportive, kind and loving during a time when I've been feeling a lot of emotions."

8. Katherine Kelly Lang

The Conga Room 25-Year Closing CelebrationLeon Bennett/Getty Images

Katherine Kelly Lang plays Brooke Logan on The Bold & The Beautiful. She tells Soap Opera Digest that she believes in moderation when it comes to food. “I generally eat healthy but I love to snack on potato chips. I love a hamburger and French fries once in a while. I’m not so much a sugar person, but I do like chocolate sometimes. You have to have a good balance. You can’t be too strict and you can’t just eat whatever you want, especially as you get older. You really need to watch what you are taking in because it’s easier to put on the pounds the older you get. But if I eat too much one day, I’ll eat less the next day, or have more green drinks or try to put more vegetables in my diet. Try to eat organic and fresh food as much as possible.”

9. Camila Banus

Camila Banus played Gabi Hernandez on Days Of Our Lives. She tells Soap Opera Digest that she meal preps. “It really helps for me to meal prep at the beginning of the week, whether that be Saturday or Sunday. I’m okay to eat the same thing, although maybe one day I’ll eat something different, for the entire week. I love that. But I do have a huge problem with drinking [enough] water. Nothing worked except two things. One of them is a really cool bottle I purchased on Amazon. It keeps me motivated. It has little positive notes on the outside of it for every hour, like, 9 a.m., ‘You did it,’ 10 a.m., ‘Good job, keep going.’ The second thing is I add a couple of pineapple chunks to that bottle of water. It gives it a little bit of an acidy pineapple taste and makes it really easy to drink.”

10. Chrishell Stause

Prior to starring on Selling Sunset, Chrishell Stause appeared on All My Children and Days Of Our Lives. Her personal trainer, Ocho, shared her workout secrets with Women’s Health. “A week of workouts for Chrishell can vary," he explained. "Her schedule is very hectic, so we get in what we can, and HIIT training is one of the most efficient ways she can build muscle and burn fat at the same time."

11. Jensen Ackles

Before appearing on Supernatural, Jensen Ackles played Eric Brady on Days Of Our Lives. To get in shape for The Boys, Ackles told Men’s Health that he turned to a certain website. “I'll make a little shout out to beachbody.com because I went on there and that's how I got my cardio in… I just followed the random videos. All I had was those adjustable power blocks, so I utilized those as my weights."

12. Arianne Zucker

Arianne Zucker, who plays Nicole Walker on Days of Our Lives, talked about her fitness on her blog. “I can't stand the gym. I will do anything else, but go to the gym. I did work out with an amazing trainer for 3 years, so that he taught me a lot. I bought my own weights for home, so I could at least work out my arms while watching a movie or listening to a great podcast like Everything From A to Z. Shameless plug. I also just recently started working out with a system called TAPfit. It's like these taps shoes that fit over your work out shoes and you can do a tap dance work out with it. I love tap dancing and I thought this was a fun way for me to do both.”

13. Justin Hartley

He shared his fitness routine with FabFitFun. “It includes a lot of circuit training lately with cardio and weight training intervals, but I’ve really started doing a lot of yoga lately — which for me is so important. My flexibility has gotten better, and I feel stronger than I have in a really long time. I’m not as injured as I was before because of yoga, so that really has helped.”

Kimberlin Brown plays Sheila Carter on The Young & The Restless and The Bold & The Beautiful. She shared her diet secrets with Soap Opera Digest. “To lose weight, you have to cut your carbs. You really need to cut out the white flour and the sugar. When I found out I was coming back to the show, I really hit Keto/Atkins. To me, Keto and Atkins are basically the same, and that’s just the removal of sugar and flour and that helped the pounds come off super-fast, which is hard for me because I love my bread! But, it was something I was willing to give up to get myself back into soap opera shape. I still have a ways to go, but I’m really happy with where I started and where I’m at now, and that is important.”

17. Kelly Monaco

I am a Texas gal so the grill is my significant other at this point! I also have been doing some very cool raw dishes and I’m enjoying that, too. So, I have a group of hungry beach goers coming over at 8, and I am making some Hang Ten Burgers (a Veggie Boom Boom original) and super crispy oven baked steak fries. I’ll maybe throw in a cool micro brew for the drinkers and some organic sparkly soda for the non-drinkers and I usually do some chocolate chip cookies for dessert, or some fresh organic fruit with mint if it’s hot outside.”

Tanisha Harper, who plays Jordan Ashford on General Hospital, shared her fitness secrets with Soap Opera Digest. I also incorporate yoga at least once a week, and occasionally, I will work out with a trainer, lifting weights, which is really great for the body and helps you be strong. I hike about two days a week, but I don’t even really consider that exercise; it’s more about being out in nature. Maybe once a month, I play tennis just to stay active and keep my body moving, and occasionally I do boxing, which is great for strength conditioning and keeping my stamina up.”

Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
