Zoe Saldaña is so full of energy she finds it hard to stay still even for her glam team. Saldaña, 46, shared a fun video of herself wearing Alo Yoga joggers and a white tank top, dancing as her hair and makeup professionals got her dolled up for an event. “In: blasting your fave playlist for a Dance and Glam sesh ;-),” she captioned the post. Saldaña is truly living her best life in her 40s—here’s how the busy actress and mother juggles career and family, and protects her health and wellness.

Protein and Vegetables

Saldaña enjoys a healthy diet with lots of protein and vegetables. “When I’m working, I tend to be pretty clean,” she told Coveteur. “Because what I eat affects my energy and my body so much, but I don’t like to be that crazy with my diet. Fish, chicken, I’ll have steak if I have to. I love protein, but I’ll also have a little bit of quinoa to make sure I get iron from my grains. I love chicken soup; I could eat it forever. And all the men in my house thrive on it, so I like having that experience of cooking things that I know will only make [me feel] better.”

Skincare Routine

Saldaña is diligent about protecting her skin from the elements. "I think washing your face twice a day at least is the most important thing to do, especially when you live in a city because there's so much pollution,” she told Allure. “Then there's moisturizing and wearing sunblock. I'm actually one of those people that really enjoys taking care of their skin. I don't see it as work, but really just as part of life, just like brushing your teeth."

Coconut Oil

Spoon,With,Cold,Coconut,Oil,On,TableShutterstock

Saldaña loves using coconut oil for cooking and beauty hacks. "If you live in the islands, you get a coconut, and you use every part of that coconut," she told Byrdie. "You drink the water, you make food with the meat, you can squeeze it and make coconut milk, and that milk you can put on your skin, on your hair. And then you can make coconut oil and coconut butter."

Love For Italy

Saldaña is happiest in Italy. “Marco, my husband, is from Verona, grew up by Lake Garda (pictured above) and studied in Milan,” she told CN Traveller. “It’s the Italian city I like best – as a New Yorker, I love the industrial grey. When we are not in Italy, we’re in the Caribbean, because I think it’s important that our children get to solidify their knowledge of their cultures – the way we speak, the way we eat, the way we dance.”

Trainer Workouts

Saldaña does full-body isometric workouts with long-term trainer Jason Walsh, founder of Rise Nation. "Zoe is always willing to put in the work," Walsh tells Shape. "She stays motivated by her own goals and understands what she needs from her body. It is not about motivation with Zoe; it is always there. She has so many important roles in her life that are not on a screen. Watching her so successfully balance her life is truly amazing and inspiring."

Kayla Nicole is getting a full body workout in – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post the fitness founder flaunts her amazing figure in a flat belly baring exercise set while exercising. “Full-body workouts are really the cheat code, babe! One session, and you’re hitting everything—arms, legs, core. It’s like multitasking for your body, and the results? Chef’s kiss. Strong, sculpted, unstoppable—you in? Here’s a full body burn from @thebank_fitcamp. Complete 12-15 reps of each exercise for 3-4 rounds,” she captioned the post from her Tribe Therepē account. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Yoga

During an Alo Moves retreat in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Kayla showed off her yoga pose. “t’s always such a treat getting to work out with their incredible instructors in real life - rather than from the training app like I usually do at home. Super grateful for trips like these that leave you feeling grounded, centered and refreshed,” she captioned the post.

Running and Jogging

Running, or rather “jogging,” is part of Kayla’s routine. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. “For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories,” they say.

Golf

Kayla loves golf. “Please feel free to save this under ‘athletic girls I follow.’ Thank you so much. 🤭🏌🏽♀️My kinda Wednesday, truly,” she captioned a post. Golf offers lots of benefits per the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Benefits include improved longevity, decreased risk of developing heart disease or suffering a stroke, good mental health, and improved strength and balance.

Pilates

Kayla does Pilates. Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Strength Trains

Kayla strength trains, which she does in her recent post. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

1. This is How She Stays Grounded

“I try and read every single day. It grounds me and makes me feel in control. And I absolutely love thriller novels, so it keeps me entertained. I also feel like pleasure reading everyday keeps your brain active and your body calm. I also drink at least half my body weight, in ounces, of water every day. Staying hydrated is such a must- and I genuinely feel better when my body is fully hydrated. And I two walks a day, with my puppy, is always a must. Of course, for Emmy, but also to keep my body active and fresh air always makes me feel better. Some days, when I am having a really hard time waking up, I'll go on an early chilly walk with Emmy and it sets such an awesome energized tone for the rest of my day,” she told E! Online.

2. She Works Out Using Virtual Reality

“Honestly, my favorite way to break a sweat right now is playing VR. We got a virtual reality headset, right as everything was shutting down, and it's been AMAZING during quarantine. There are so many games that make you work up a sweat and it's so awesome. I am genuinely so sore after I play,” she told E! Online.

3. She Tried Zumba During the Pandemic

amfAR Gala Los Angeles 2021 - ArrivalsAxelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

“Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — to help improve cardiovascular fitness,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Zumba is an aerobic activity that can count toward the amount of aerobic activity recommended for most healthy adults by the Department of Health and Human Services. The guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. But even small amounts of physical activity are helpful. Being active for short periods of time throughout the day can add up to provide health benefits.”

4. She Has a Trainer Who Gets Her

2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards - Red CarpetMatt Winkelmeyer/2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards/Getty Images

She and trainer Paolo Mascitti have an understanding. “If my body is so sore and I need a day off, he's so understanding about that,” she told Self. “My mental health is the priority, and my mental health is always better when I am active. But sometimes when your body hurts, you're like, I can't do anything, I don't want to get up. And so he's very patient. If there's a day that I feel the need to be a little bit more gentle with myself, he's great.”

5. She Likes Group Classes

“I always do a little bit better in a class setting or in-person, just because I think that I have a competitive nature in workout classes,” she told Self. “So I feel like I can really hit it hard.”

6. She Celebrates Good Times, Come On

Veuve Clicquot Polo ClassicGregg DeGuire/Getty Images

“Whenever [her boyfriend] Anthony [de la Torre] and I finish a workout or finish doing something that will better our physical bodies or our mind, he makes us clap and validate ourselves. We put on... I think it's called ‘Celebration,’” from Kool and the Gang, she tells Bustle. “He puts on ‘Celebration’ on speakers around the house. We're supposed to celebrate ourselves for 30 seconds or a minute because, he says, you have to tell yourself to celebrate these small steps that you've taken to take care of yourself. So when I finish working out, we clap and dance. It’s awesome.”

7. This is Her Wind-Down Routine

Premiere Of Disney's "Mulan" - ArrivalsAxelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic

“I’m the type of person who works out in the morning to get it over with, because I know that when I get home, I just want to take a bath and eat some pasta and watch a show. So that’s what I do. Anthony… and I have been doing these incredible magnesium CBD baths every night. That’s been really amazing for my muscles because I’ve been working out more to get ready for my next movie. With everything our bodies have gone through in the past year, it really is so important to tell your muscles that it's OK to relax and to let your body heal. So I highly recommend tub time,” she tells Bustle.

Luisa Zissman isn’t afraid to challenge herself when it comes to her workouts, even after injuring her back in March. Zissman, 37, shared a video of herself wearing black leggings and a gray sports bra, doing some exercises with a personal trainer. “Still winning 🙌🏻😝,” she captioned the video. “I think I’ve recovered so well because I really did take my time - I still have weekly physio + weekly sports massages & I was really fit & strong before the injury, I have a really strong core which I think also has helped. BUT I still get some niggles & have to really listen to my body now. ❤️❤️ my neuro surgeon is literally my hero! 😍😍,” she commented in response to a fan. Zissman is a self-made woman who is only going from strength to strength career-wise—here’s how she stays fit and happy.

Workout Routine

Zissman works out for both mental and physical benefits, including Pilates, yoga, and strength training into her routine. "I'm probably the fittest now than I've ever been in my adult life, but that's because I do prioritise it and I'm in a good routine,” she told Closer. “That's what I try and say to people, 'It only takes three weeks, apparently, to start a new habit'. So if you focus on it and then you get into that habit and realise how food makes you feel and how rewarding a routine is, then you will find your flow."

Ab Exercises

Zissman focuses on her core when she’s horseback riding and working out. “ I do focus on my abs because I find ab workouts easy,” she told Closer. “I also don't eat processed food and I don't eat a lot of fat. I think really, if you want to see abs pop you do need to have relatively lean body fat. But I enjoy doing abs, I love hanging and lifting my legs up. I've got a broken ankle at the minute and I was still in the gym today hanging and lifting my legs up. It was really heavy because I've got a boot on!"

Epsom Salt Baths

Zissman swears by hot baths for rest and recovery. "When I'm really cold and I've been riding, I'll get in a bubble bath,” she told HeatWorld. “I always use this Tropic Tahitian & Coconut Bath Foam and Epsom Salts because I always have muscle aches and pain because I work out so much.”

Building Her Brand

Zissman took a chance when she appeared on The Apprentice UK. “I applied for The Apprentice because I had the business and my husband at the time was involved. We were going through an amicable break-up, but I wanted to do something on my own,” she told Absolutely Magazines. “I thought, I’m just going to give it a whirl. I didn’t necessarily want to be business partners with Alan Sugar, but I wanted to branch out on my own. It taught me that I was better than I thought I was. I never thought I’d get into the final, so it was a big confidence boost and it taught me that a lot is possible – if you really want something then you most definitely can do it.”

Obsessed With Horses

Zissman loves horse riding in the countryside around her home. “I’ve lived in St Albans, I’m currently living in a village just outside of Potters Bar, and I’m moving soon to Bishop’s Stortford so I’ve covered the whole of Hertfordshire,” she told Absolutely Magazines. “I really loved St Albans, it’s such a beautiful place with a real buzz, but I love the villages and community feel too. I’ve got seven horses and I love riding around all the rural areas, but I like that you can still go to places like Bishop’s Stortford for a great night out.”

1. She’s All About HIIT Workouts

dua-lipa-friends-instagramDua Lipa/Instagram

Dua doesn’t like to spend long hours at the gym, so she opts for hardcore HIIT workouts. "It's high-intensity interval training, but it's so quick, it's over before it's even started," she told Vogue. Each session runs 15 minutes and consists of jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and burpees. The Mayo Clinic confirms "you'll burn more calories," with these types of workouts. "The more vigorously you exercise, the more calories you'll burn — even if you increase intensity for just a few minutes at a time," they say.

2. She Works Out Early

The BRIT Awards 2021 - Media RoomJMEnternational/JMEnternational for BRIT Awards/Getty Images

8:30 am workouts are Dua’s jam. "This is normally the time I give myself to work out," she wrote for Refinery29. "Whether it's on Zoom, doing a workout with my friend Ella in L.A. who leads a kickass workout class called Sculpt With Ella, or with my best friend Bunny who comes over to train me on days when I'm feeling super lazy and need someone to get me motivated, getting physical really starts my day off right.”

3. She Does a Lot of Ab Work

The BRIT Awards 2021 - VIP ArrivalsJMEnternational/JMEnternational/Getty Images

Dua told Urban List that the secret to her flat abs is unsurprisingly, lots of ab work. "I think different variations of crunches like bicycle crunches are good. Leg raises are also great unless my back hurts. Planks are good although almost certainly my least favourite!" she said.

4. She Does Lots of Different Workouts

29th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing PartyDave Benett/Getty Images

In addition to her HIIT workouts, she mixes in lots of variety including yoga, Pilates, and boxing. "Whatever it is, I try to change it up every day to keep things interesting," she told Urban List. "I like that it's definitely a full body workout. Since starting boxing, I've probably been in the best shape ever. It's also a great stress reliever."

5. She Is a Fan of the Workout Buddy System

The BRIT Awards 2021 - ShowDave Benett/Getty Images

In addition to having bikini buddies, Dua is a big fan of the workout buddy system. "I would always be that person who made a new year's resolution, get a gym membership and then show up twice in the first week of January and then never go again," she told Urban List. "Now I love workout classes or working with a trainer. I feel like I'm pretty useless on my own, so I prefer being around other people working out with me."

Ana Zelu is a professional model and social media influencer. She is known for her content in nature. Zelu recently shared a post on Instagram of herself on a surfboard in the ocean. She captioned it, “Yesterday was such a fun shoot, I just had to share these with you 🤍 🛥️But picture number #4?? That photobomb totally got me 😂 Which picture is your favorite ?🌊”

She Swims

As you can see from her post, Zelu likes to swim. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

She Doesn't Compare Herself to Others

Zelu shares a lot of her thoughts on Instagram. In this post, she talked about no longer comparing herself to others. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today’s contemplation led me to a profound understanding of the detrimental impact comparison has on our lives. It’s like a silent intruder, subtly creeping into our thoughts and poisoning our perception of ourselves and others. It’s a universal struggle, one that weighs heavily on the hearts of many. I’ve come to realize that comparison is the ultimate thief of joy. It robs us of our ability to appreciate our own journey and achievements, as we constantly measure ourselves against an idealized version of others. I’ve resolved to break free from its grasp. We should choose to celebrate our own unique path, recognizing that each step forward is a triumph in itself. Rather than fixating on external benchmarks set by others, I’m focusing on personal growth and development. Whether it’s through learning new skills, cultivating gratitude, or simply practicing self-compassion, every effort counts.”

She Hikes

Zelu is seen on a hike in the previous Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

She’s Resilient

Resilience is another important thing to Zelu. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Dear Diary 💭📝, I witnessed something truly remarkable that touched my heart deeply. It’s amazing how people can go through the toughest storms in life and yet remain gentle, patient, and kind. I saw someone who faced challenges that would break most people, yet they chose to respond with grace and humility. Their ability to stay calm and compassionate in the face of adversity is nothing short of admirable. It made me realize the beauty of resilience – the strength to keep going even when life throws its hardest punches. These individuals not only endure the storms but also emerge from them with a spirit that shines brighter than before. Their example reminds me of the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be found 💕🫶”

She’s Accepted Herself

Zelu talked about the importance of acceptance in this Instagram post’s caption. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but amidst it all, I feel like I’ve taken a step closer to the right direction. Letting go of the past is like shedding a heavy coat I’ve been carrying for far too long. It’s not easy to release the memories, the pain, the regrets, but today, I made a choice to loosen the grip they had on me. It’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater for too long—refreshing and liberating. Forgiving myself has been a journey filled with tears and moments of self-doubt. But today, I finally understood that I deserve the same forgiveness and understanding I give to others. It’s like giving myself a warm hug, wrapping myself in kindness and acceptance.”

Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong. Include squats in your exercise routine two to three days a week to reap the benefits from this dynamite move.”

Gymless states that the exercise has a lot of health benefits. “Hip thrusts, as a compound movement, aid in increasing lower body strength and power, enhancing athletic abilities such as running, jumping, and powerlifting. By strengthening the posterior chain muscles, you can enhance your posture and lower the risk of back pain and muscle strain. Strong glutes and hamstrings contribute to hip and knee stability, minimizing injury risks in sports and daily life.”

Viciconte is seen using a stationary bike in the previous Instagram video. Doing this can help strengthen your muscles. Penn State PRO Wellness explained, “Riding a stationary bike can help build strength in your legs and lower body, especially if you use a higher resistance. The pedaling action can help strengthen your calves, hamstrings, and quadriceps. Additionally, it can work the muscles in your core, back, and glutes. If you use a bicycle with handles, you’ll also be able to work your upper body muscles, including your biceps, triceps, and shoulders.”

She Runs

Viciconte shared this Instagram video of herself working out. In it, she is seen doing running exercises. Viciconte captioned it, “When we exercise, our body releases endorphin, a natural substance produced by the brain during and after physical activity. The release of endorphin, also known as the 'joy hormone', helps you relax, reduces stress, anxiety and improves your mood. I always say that it's never too late to start moving, so you know that tomorrow you have no excuse 💪🏻”
