She’s A Vegetarian

Twain has been a vegetarian since 1993, and was even named 2001’s ‘Sexiest Vegetarian’ by PETA. “I don’t eat meat, fish, or eggs,” the singer told Las Vegas Weekly. “I was never a big meat eater, but I’ve got more energy now. I eat a lot of tofu, and I drink soy shakes with fruit every morning. I always have soybeans, black beans, or chickpeas for lunch or dinner.”

In addition to eating a vegetarian diet, Twain makes sure that she eats clean, and avoids junk or processed food. She told the Las Vegas Review Journal, “I make sure I’m eating greens every day, and nuts, and food that’s not processed. I do that every day. If you end up eating breads and rice and pasta to satisfy yourself, then you’re probably not necessarily eating healthier. You might be sparing yourself some of the downsides of eating meat. But you’re not necessarily benefiting yourself by eating the starch.”

In addition to eating clean, Twain says that she avoids other substances, specifically alcohol and nicotine. “I’m really into taking care of my body. As a singer, you can’t abuse your body, certain stuff aren’t allowed, that’s why I try to live healthily every day,” she says to Shedyourweight.com. “I avoid alcohol, I don’t smoke.”

Twain always tries to stay active, but she admittedly doesn’t like going to the gym and doing traditional workouts. “I’m not really a fan of the gym, so I try to stay fit doing stuff I always do, I make the chores my own form of exercise,” she says to Shedyourweight.com.

She Avoids Carbs & Eats A Lot of Protein

Twain’s approach to eating is simple, avoid carbohydrates, and eat a lot of protein. But she admits that this isn’t always easy. “I just have to fight eating a lot of my favorite foods like french fries and any carbohydrates, which is a real drag,” Twain admits to ET. “I have to just try to dominate my diet with more proteins. I love vegetables anyways, so that’s OK, but it’s just really hard keeping the carbs down, but that’s what I do! That’s my discipline — keeping the carbs down.”

She Loves To Get Outside

Twain tells ET that some of her favorite exercises involve getting outside and getting fresh air. “I play a lot of tennis. I love horses so I’m riding all the time,” she says. “I like just staying active.”
