She Drinks a Morning Smoothie
"I don't really have a typical morning! Sometimes I wake up and I go workout; sometimes I wake up and jump right into the shower, so it just depends. Lately, I haven't worked out that much. Usually, my kids wake me up and then I jump in the shower and we meet downstairs for breakfast. I'll make a smoothie—they love when I make them smoothies. I'll usually have a coffee, too," she told Byrdie. The smoothie is made with Zico coconut water, almond butter and maybe some fruit.
She Works Out at Home Sometimes
"I try to incorporate some movement. I downloaded a few apps and I'll watch YouTube videos of different fitness folks. So I signed up to [the Equinox+] app and they do meditation, they do yoga, strength training. They have all those things and you can keep track of your health," she told Marie Claire.
She Tracks Her Sleep Using This Device
"The ring tracks your sleep. Every morning I'm like, 'Okay, how good was my REM sleep? What was my deep sleep?' And before I was like, 'I feel like I didn't get enough sleep last night. I was tossing and turning.' To have confirmation that you've either had good sleep or didn't have good sleep—it just validates how you're feeling for the day: I needed that extra shot of espresso and I needed that concealer today. And it also tells you how much you should exert for the day. You got this sleep so this is the best time for you to do your fitness and then you can really go for it or take it easy. It guides you," she told Marie Claire.
This is What She Likes to Cook
"My family likes when I make Cornish game hen—or stir fries, pastas, and lasagna. The kids are pretty easy; they like pretty much everything. I like to cook. In the summer, we do a lot of grilling; in the winter, we do roasting. We always have roasted veggies. I kind of like to cook anything depending on the weather. If I ever wrote another book, I'd want to do a cookbook. I'd love the excuse to cook for six weeks. It'd be the dream. Each meal would have to be 20 minutes; I like to cook fast," she told Byrdie.
She Meditates
"When I'm feeling anxious, I hold on to a crystal and do breathing exercises and try to focus on the energy of love, kindness, and calming," she told Women's Health. "Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health. And these benefits don't end when your meditation session ends. Meditation can help carry you more calmly through your day and may help you manage symptoms of certain medical conditions," says the Mayo Clinic.
She Takes Walks
"I've been doing lots of walks with my kids or my husband, my parents, and now I've recruited friends," she says. "It's really nice because it's not so strenuous on the body. You can listen to like podcasts or you can chat, but you're still getting a decent workout," she told Shape. "Regular brisk walking can help you:
- Maintain a healthy weight and lose body fat
- Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer and type 2 diabetes
- Improve cardiovascular fitness," according to the Mayo Clinic.
She Has Changed Her Habits as She's Gotten Older
"Getting older sucks," she says. "My husband and I both had this moment where we're like, 'We need to change our habits. We're not getting any younger.' So we've been going to the doctor and making sure that we get everything checked and creating new, healthier, better habits," she has said, according to Shape.
