She Makes Smart Food Choices

Heidi refuses to starve herself. "The myth that models don't eat is totally not true," she told Shape. "I just think that because we're in this business, we have to choose more wisely." Her diet mostly consists of fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. "It's important to keep a balanced diet, but I'm not a fan of deprivation. If I want a cheeseburger, I am not only going to eat that cheeseburger, but I'm going to enjoy that cheeseburger."

Heidi gets her veggies in my sneaking them in smoothies. "In 2013, I made a New Year's resolution to drink a fruit and veggie smoothie every morning. It's one of those that went from a resolution to a life habit. My kids and I do it together, and we love it," she told Shape.

Fitness is about more than just looking good for Klum. "It's not just about doing the cardio so that you're nice and fit, and slim and trim, but your heart needs to pump, too," she told Shape. "Whenever I need motivation, I think of the big picture. I want to be as healthy as possible for myself and my family."

4

She Doesn't "Really Exercise That Much"

Klum doesn't devote a ton of time to fitness. "I don't really exercise that much," she confessed to Buro27. "I mean, two times a week for sure. I will do the Stairmaster I've got at home or a running machine. I also think it's important not to exercise too much. I don't think you have to do a lot, but if you do a little bit all the time, I think that's important. Sometimes I'll do some little weights while I'm running.

She Stays Active with Her Family

While she doesn't have time for daily workouts she tries "to be active as much as possible," she told Shape. Therefore, she gets creative by infusing fitness into family activities. "Balancing my work and their schedules makes it hard to find time for a traditional exercise routine, so we try to do as many outdoor activities as a family as possible. We love to go on bike rides, take our dogs hiking, or jump on the trampoline. That's the best way to stay fit and healthy—do things that don't feel like work."

She Runs

Klum loves to run. "My favorite workout is a long run along the Westside Highway, which stretches along the Hudson River in New York City…it's a beautiful path, and you always feel surrounded by such an amazing community," she told Shape. "You see the same people running every morning, and they inspire me to keep going. That and knowing there is a Starbucks coffee at the end of the route!"
