Don't Rush It
During an interview with E! News, Anfisa revealed that her transformation, which included a 20-pound weight loss, took time. "First, I lost about 15 pounds in about six months and that's when I started thinking about competing. So then I actually gained a little weight to increase my muscle. But then I lost more. It took about a year and a half. I wasn't in a rush. In the beginning, I was 146 pounds and now I'm about 120."
Control Portion Size
Anfisa revealed one of the secrets to her weight loss to E! News: "I just reduced my portion size," she said. "I've actually been skinny my whole life, but when I moved to the United States I gained about 15 to 20 pounds. The food here is different from the way I used to eat in Russia. In Russia, I would eat home-cooked meals but here I would go out to eat a lot. And I wasn't really controlling it, I was eating everything."
Do Cardio
She also revealed that adding cardio to her routine was a major game changer for losing weight. "I was doing the elliptical or the treadmill five or six times a week for 30-40 minutes," she told E! News.
Maintain an Active Lifesyle
When she isn't working out in the gym you can find Anfisa staying active outdoors. On social media you can find her skiing, hiking, and taking walks outside. "Short on long chunks of time? Even brief bouts of activity offer benefits. For instance, if you can't fit in one 30-minute walk during the day, try a few five-minute walks instead. Any activity is better than none at all. What's most important is making regular physical activity part of your lifestyle," says the Mayo Clinic.
Lift Weights
Anfisa attributes a big part of her transformation to lifting weights. In fact, since first appearing on 90 Day Fiancé she has become a certified personal trainer and even competed in a bodybuilding competition. Her feed is filled with demonstrations of the exercises responsible for her figure, including Roman Deadlifts, Cable Pullovers, Lateral Raises, and various versions of lunges and squats.
