She Works With A Trainer
Lady Gaga's trainer, Harley Pasternak, works her hard through a strength training session 5 days a week if not more. They focus on strength training because honestly, with Lady Gaga's performances, her trainer says that she generally gets plenty of cardio through that. Strength training can lead to "increased muscle mass. Most adults lose about one-half pound of muscle per year after the age of 30, largely due to decreased activity. Muscle tissue is partly responsible for the number of calories burned at rest (the basal metabolic rate, or BMR). As muscle mass increases, BMR increases, making it easier to maintain a healthy body weight," says ACE Fitness.
She Does TRX
Lady Gaga enjoys TRX resistance training when she's really trying to whip herself into shape. For example, when she was training for the Super Bowl halftime show, TRX is the workout that she relied on. TRX is essentially a full body suspension work out that was created by the Navy SEALs.
She Does Spinning
A lot of celebs seem to be fans of SoulCycle, Lady Gaga included. She's been spotted there on a few occasions, taking classes at the LA location. Spinning is great for building strength and burning fat. According to Spinning.com, the many benefits of spinning include burning a good amount of calories, the impact is easier on the rider's joints, strengthens the heart, and it improves mental strength.
She Practices Yoga
Lady Gaga seems really levelheaded and down to earth, so it's not surprising that she's drawn to all of the benefits yoga has to offer. She works with a private instructor, Tricia Donegan, and enjoys Bikram yoga (aka, hot yoga). It's a bit more intense, taking place in a heated room, and is said to flush toxins from your body by sweating them out. "There are many styles of yoga that incorporate a lot of physical movement and strengthening — Ashtanga, Bikram and Power Yoga to name a few. Try one of these if your goal is building more muscle. If you want a gentle class to relieve stress and stiffness in your muscles, you might try a Slow Flow class. Just beginning? A beginner's class or workshop can help," says the Cleveland Clinic.
She Cares About What She Eats
Lady Gaga knows that it doesn't matter how much you workout, if you're not starting in the kitchen, you can't outrun a bad diet. She incorporates a lot of nutrient packed food into her diet, working with personal chef, Bo O'Connor. Bo said Gaga enjoys "quinoa with black beans, grilled shrimp, beautiful veggies. We want it to be healthy, tasty, filling, nutritious, and full of fiber." To snack on, he sets her up with almond butter and bananas.
