Plant-Based Diet

Last year, Jenner shared an Instagram Story and shared a pic of her dinner of cooked broccoli, sweet potato, and quinoa. "Really trying to not eat meat rn so here's my little dinner," she captioned the clip. Ronald Smith, a registered dietitian explains, "Plant-based diets are healthful, eco-friendly, and absolutely delicious. Even if you're not ready to ditch animal products entirely, you can reap serious benefits by adding more veggies to your plate. First off, a plant-based diet encourages you to eat whole foods. Think about what most people think of as "vegetarian"  tofu dogs, meatless burgers, and the like. They may taste good but they're pretty processed. As with any diet, the more processing involved, the less healthy it is for you. With a plant-based diet, you'll focus on eating whole foods such as vegetables, fruit, legumes (beans and peas), whole grains, nuts and seeds. This means you'll get more fiber in your diet  which is great for digestive health. You'll also be getting more antioxidants and phytochemicals (plant compounds that help protect against disease). A plant-based diet is also linked with lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure. These are major factors in heart disease prevention, one of the leading causes of death in the United States today."

She Runs

During the height of the pandemic, Jenner worked out at home and showed fans how she stayed fit. Running on a treadmill was one way she kept toned. Dana Ellis Hunnes PhD, MPH, RD is a senior dietitian at UCLA medical center, assistant professor at UCLA Fielding school of public health, and author with Cambridge university Press, of the new book, RECIPE FOR SURVIVAL shares, "Running is an aerobic sport, we use oxygen at high levels while running.  Aerobic sports burn calories, the more calories we burn, the easier it is to stay fit and lose weight – it has to do with calories in/calories out.  Running, especially when at the endurance level, can lead to more fat-burning as well, rather than carbohydrate burning, which can also lead to more weight loss as fat burns very few calories in a day while muscle burns a lot.  Running also revs up our metabolism, leading to increased calorie burn throughout the day.  It's a good idea to exercise every day; though it does not have to be running every day.  Mix it up with running, cycling, swimming, hiking, etc, to get a full range of motion and to keep your body guessing as to what is coming next."

Grazia reports, the youngest member of the Jenner-Kardashian clan enjoys long walks with her daughter Stormi and Steve Theunissen, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist RDN and Author at SmartFitnessResults shares, "Brisk walking is a great way to get fit if you have joint problems. It's also ideal for people who want to lose weight as it burns more calories than jogging at the same speed. You can add extra resistance to walking by wearing a weighted vest or carrying hand weights, using poles while hiking uphill to increase the intensity and make walking a more powerful workout. Your body uses fat as its fuel source to produce ATP during sustaining everyday basic function. Walking at a brisk pace for 30 minutes burns more fat than running for 10 minutes."

Grazia also reports the founder of Kylie Cosmetics likes to hike around trails near her house.  Kristin Carlino, a Registered Dietitian with Jersey City Medical Center says, Hiking is a good cardio exercise, but you're also working your leg muscles, and you're usually carrying a heavy backpack, so you're essentially also doing strength training. One of the best things about hiking is that it's an effective appetite suppressant. And going out in nature will also take you away from eating triggers indoors. It's important to note, though, that you can't out-exercise a bad diet."

She Tries to Maintain a Balanced Diet

Jenner has been really open about loving fast food like McDonald's, but the 24-year-old has been watching what she eats more, though will still eat what she likes in moderation. According to Grazia, " Kylie has been watching what she eats at home but isn't restricting herself. When she goes out with friends, she eats what she wants." Janet Coleman, a registered dietitian with The Consumer Mag states, "Balance in your diet is the ultimate key to losing weight and sticking to your routine. To maximize your weight loss potential, as well as your chances at staying fit forever, you should focus on maintaining balance. By avoiding extremes either eating nothing but junk food or starving yourself, you allow your body to work most effectively and bring about the best results."
