She Exercises First Thing in the Morning
Rebecca gets her workouts out of the way soon after waking up. "I'm glad to say I've been really consistent with my home workout sessions lately. I feel that getting them done early in the morning is such a good way to start the day with zest," she told Body + Soul.
She Takes Supplements
Rebecca is all about supplements. "I take a strong Life Space probiotic daily. If my iron is low I take an iron supplement but it hasn't been too bad lately (I was quite anemic when I was pregnant with my twins), I take Sambucol cold and flu tablets if I feel I'm going to get sick and it usually stops it in its tracks. The same goes for Bioceuticals Armaforce. If my kids are sick and I feel like I'm on the verge I can usually nip it in the bud straight away. It's like magic. I also take Metamucil capsules for extra fiber and Vitalgreens when I'm really busy with work and traveling (ahhh those were the days) and I don't feel I'm getting the vitamins and nutrients I need," she revealed to Body + Soul.
She Focuses On Eating Whole Foods
Rebecca keeps her diet simple, focusing meals around "a protein (usually salmon, roast chicken, lamb or an eye fillet steak), a carb (usually rice, quinoa or potatoes) and vegetables (either a salad or steamed/roasted veggies). Simple but delicious and easy," she told Body + Soul.
She Does Breathing Exercises
Rebecca doesn't meditate but has other ways to destress, telling Body + Soul, "I'm always conscious of checking in on myself and how I'm feeling and thinking. I have strategies I use when I'm feeling stressed or struggling to focus. They usually involve deep breathing or doing an at-home pilates class or other little things like writing lists and putting my phone away so I'm more present with my children."
She Does HIIT Workouts
Rebecca revealed to Beauticate that HIIT workouts are her go-to exercise method. She uses a Watt bike. "It's a spin bike, but the hardest, worst spin bike you've ever been on in your life, because it kills you and doesn't let you get any momentum! It's got a magnetic force on it," she said. She prefers Tabata, based on 20/10 intervals. "It kills you but it's only four minutes! I do that about four times a week," she said.
She Also Does Pilates
Rebecca also does pilates twice a week, both on the reformer and mat. "I always recommend doing pilates at a studio where the instructors are physios. They have a better understanding of human movement and muscles and are great at tailoring a programme to the individual's needs based on any concerns, injuries or target areas they wish to work on. Oh, and if you've got private health insurance, you can claim it! I go to Pilates class, and my trainer writes me a program and I come home and do it," she told Beauticate. "I don't do it every day but I aim for twice a week."
She Sprints
Rebecca also is a fan of sprinting. "I am such a lazy runner so prefer to do short hits than long runs," she told Beauticate. "I'll often do four or five lots of 400m laps around an oval. They are over and done with quickly and you can time yourself to maintain your speed and challenge yourself."
She Doesn't Diet
"I've never dieted and stay slim due to inheriting good genes," Rebecca admitted to Beauticate. "Having said that, I don't like to eat too much processed food or high sugar foods (chocolate excluded!), not because they are high in calories but merely due to the fact that they are full of crap and not great for your insides. I like to eat whole foods; lean cuts of meat (all meats), fresh fruit and veggies and lots of seeds and grains for fiber," she continued. She also doesn't fear carbs. "I need carbs otherwise I feel hungry all the time and I get angry, so I always choose high fiber, multigrain breads and I eat lots of brown rice." On occasion she will also indulge in chocolate or cheese.
"Everything in Moderation"
Rebecca's overall approach to wellness? "I know this is so clichè but everything in moderation whether it's sugar, alcohol, work, socializing, shopping etc." she told The Carousel. "A little bit of everything makes for a well -rounded and very balanced life!"
