She Loves Fitness Classes

Emily broke down some of her wellness secrets in an interview with InStyle. She says that she prefers to go to fitness classes, as she thinks she’s a lot more successful in them. “I’m one of those people who, if I go to the gym by myself, there’s a 50/50 chance of me actually working out and really pushing myself, so the class environment works really, really well for me.”
She Uses Music As Motivation

Emily loves going to STRONG classes from Zumba. She tells InStyle that the class’ music helps inspire her and push her. “I am also someone who, even in a class, will get chatty and [distracted]. I think that’s the great thing about STRONG — the music keeps me really focused and in the zone. You just feel like you’re, you know, Superwoman really pushing herself. You end up working harder and it’s a better, more intense workout, without even noticing.”
She Works Out At Night

Emily tells InStyle that she likes to work out at night. In fact, she says that this helps her sleep better. “For me, the way I sleep afterwards is one of the main reasons to work out. I am always on my phone working and I think that’s affected my sleep. I’m also really light-sensitive. When I work out, it’s better than taking a melatonin. Because my body has worked hard, my brain finally rests and I think that is so valuable in this day and age — not to sound like an old geezer, but truly I feel that way.”
She Checks In With Herself

Emily tells InStyle that she is making her health a bigger priority than she has in the past. This includes her mental health and wellbeing. “Most of my life [physical and mental health] were very disconnected, but now I check in with myself more,” she says. Emily says that self-care can look like many things. “Sometimes that means ordering a mountain of Thai food and staying at home and watching TV — and that can be wellness.”
She Eats Iron

When it comes to her diet, Emily is a meat lover. She tells ELLE that she eats a protein and iron rich diet. “I’m a carnivore. I really like to eat meat. I crave iron.” According to the University Of Florida Health, iron plays an important role in someone’s diet. “Iron is considered an essential mineral because it is needed to make hemoglobin, a part of blood cells. The body cannot make it, so it must be taken in with the food we eat.”
