She Exercises
If you want a body like Sofía's, you are going to have to sweat for it. She revealed to Women's Health that she exercises three or four times a week with a trainer. She also does at-home workouts, thanks to her husband, Joe Manganiello. "Joe built a very nice gym in the house, so I don't have any excuses," she said. "Finding time to exercise can be a challenge. To make it easier, schedule time to exercise as you would any other appointment. Plan to watch your favorite show while walking on the treadmill, read while riding a stationary bike, or take a break to go on a walk at work," says the Mayo Clinic.
She Does Megaformer Workouts
Sofía is a big fan of Megaformer workouts. She describes the piece of equipment as "an advanced Pilates machine" combining cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility, she told Women's Health. "The abdominal, hip and back muscles are often collectively referred to as the body's core. Pilates exercises are designed to strengthen this core by developing pelvic stability and abdominal control. In addition, the exercises improve flexibility and joint mobility and build strength," says the Mayo Clinic.
She Forces Herself to Exercise
Some stars love exercising, but not Sofía. She explains that her husband loves breaking a sweat, but "it's like torture" for her. "I'm in a bad mood two hours before, I'm in a bad mood while I'm doing it, I'm in a bad mood at the end because I have to schedule the next class," she told Women's Health.
She Recently Incorporated Weight Lifting Into Her Routine
Sofía recently started pumping iron. "The one thing that I have done that really has made a difference in my body is lifting weights. Not crazy weights. But, you know, like five pounds, seven pounds, 10 pounds. Twelve pounds is the maximum I can do. It keeps your muscles tight, and your skin tighter to you," she told Health. "I've done Pilates and spinning, and I've tried all sorts of things—and they're great."
Her Guilty Pleasure? Cake
Sofía allows herself to cheat. "I heard about someone in L.A. who got hypnotized so they wouldn't eat candy," she told Shape. "I'm seriously looking into that because I'm obsessed. When I do indulge, I exercise a bit harder the next day. My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!"
Her Diet Is Antioxidant-Rich
Sofía makes sure to eat lots of antioxidants. Not only does healthy eating keep her in shape, it helps maintain her glow. "I eat a lot of vegetables, and I eat blueberries, and I drink green tea. And I add, like, a spoon of powdered collagen to chamomile tea at night—I don't know what that does [laughs] but I do it! And I try to drink lots of water," she told Health. "Scientists have shown that blueberries are loaded with compounds (phytonutrients) that may help prevent chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Blueberries may also improve short-term memory and promote healthy aging. Blueberries are a low-calorie source of fiber and vitamin C — 3/4 cup of fresh blueberries has 2.7 grams of fiber and 10.8 milligrams of vitamin C," says the Mayo Clinic.
