She Lifts Weights
Hyland works with trainer Chad Landers to help herself stay in shape. Landers spilled some of the actress' secrets in an interview with People. He says that Hyland likes to weight train. "There's a certain component because she's on camera that she wants to look good and be firm, but she really is not afraid to lift weights and to be strong," Landers said. "She loves being strong and getting stronger."
She Mixes Up Her Workouts
Landers tells People that he does a lot of different exercises with Hyland. "I have dozens of exercises that I toss in and out of it to keep her from getting bored, and work things in different planes of motion," says Landers. "Sarah is very dedicated. She really enjoys working out and pushing herself."
She Focuses On Being Strong, Not What She Weighs
For Hyland, working out isn't about losing weight. It's about being strong. She wrote on Twitter, "I love to be STRONG. (I'll be using that word a lot) Strength is everything. Being strong has gotten me where I am. Both mentally and physically. I am not a fan of 'being skinny.'"
She Takes Care Of Her Mental Health
Hyland doesn't just prioritize her physical health, but she also focuses on her mental health. "It really is this balance of mental, emotional and physical reality," Hyland tells People. "So if you're feeling mentally and emotionally drained, or if you are in a very dark space, you have to pull the string on the other side to lift you up out of that." Hyland says that she takes personal days to help with her mental states.
She Takes Care Of Her Skin
Hyland makes sure to take care of her skin. She tells People that she made skincare a bigger priority as she got older. "I never really paid attention to skincare at all," she says. "I didn't think that it was necessary because it wasn't at that time. But as I got older, you start to be like, 'Oh, I should probably be taking care of myself more and eating more greens than fast food and using moisturizers instead of not and really investing in myself.' Rather than other trivial things."
