She Likes Being Under Pressure
Bouchard is a tennis player, which means she's often put in high-pressure situations. However, she tells ELLE that she doesn't let it get to her. "I like being under all this pressure, because if I'm not, then it's because I'm not good enough. This level of pressure comes with the territory, so I'd rather have it all than nothing. It's what motivates me to improve everyday.
She Does Cardio and Strength Training
Being a tennis player, Bouchard has to stay in shape. She tells ELLE that she does a mix of cardio and strength training. "As a tennis player, I have to work on my strength and cardio. I find the game of tennis has become more physical, and players are spending more time at the gym."
She Makes Time For Herself
Bouchard has a busy schedule, but she always makes time for herself. She tells ELLE, "When I do have some free time, I lie on the couch and relax, physically and mentally. It's important to take time away from tennis. When I can, I head to Montreal to visit my family. I'm not there often because I train in Florida. I miss my siblings, but it's the sacrifice I've made."
She Always Carries Healthy Snacks
Bouchard tells Self Magazine that she always makes time to carry healthy snacks with her. "I always have my energy bars and energy gels on hand. And bananas, definitely. All tennis players eat like five bananas a day." "From a nutritional standpoint, not many foods measure up to the quality and quantity of nutrients packed inside a banana. A medium-sized banana provides about 105 calories with virtually no fat, cholesterol or sodium. They are an excellent source of potassium, a mineral important for regulating blood pressure, fluid balance, heart health plus good nerve and muscle function. A banana can help prevent muscle cramps after exercise. They also provide a good source of vitamins C and B6, as well as magnesium," says the Mayo Clinic.
She Cooks Breakfast
Bouchard eats healthy meals. She tells Self Magazine that she likes to cook breakfast for herself. "I'm not a cooking person, so there's not much in the fridge. On the rare occasion that I do cook, I make myself breakfast. Eggs are my go-to in the morning for some protein. Orange juice as well. You have to start your day off with that." "Protein feeds the muscles you are trying to build from your workout routine, which in return creates a faster metabolism and helps you lose weight, according to a study published by the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism. The amino acids in the egg can help provide your body with the protein it needs to build that muscle you desire!" says our sister site Eat This, Not That!
