Pedroche loves to dance—and judging by her social media posts, she's very good at it! "When you begin moving, you immediately release the brain chemicals dopamine, adrenaline, and endorphins, causing a powerful and lasting effect I call 'energized optimism,'" says Kelly McGonigal, PhD. "The adrenaline makes you feel powerful, the dopamine generates hope, and the endorphins bring you joy. You've created this amazing cocktail that boosts your mood and energy, leads you to experience better social interactions, makes you more likely to progress on your goals, and lowers stress. So dancing doesn't just make you feel great in the moment. It sets you up to be a better version of yourself."

Pedroche works out hard, and enjoys resistance training sessions at the gym. "In strength training, you add resistance to a particular movement to overload your muscles, which makes them work harder and become stronger," says Tom Iannetta, ATC, CSCS. "As we age, we lose muscle mass, which decreases metabolism, so establishing a strength program will not only increase muscles, it will boost metabolism."

She Enjoys Fish

Pedroche loves seafood, and incorporates plenty of fish into her healthy diet. "Fish is the number one source of omega-3 fatty acids," says Julia Zumpano, RD, LD. "Just to make it more interesting, fish provide two types of omega-3 fatty acids that our bodies need called EPA and DHA. Omega-3 improves cardiovascular health at a dosage between 1-4 grams each day. It also lowers the risk of death for people with cardiovascular disease and abnormal heart rhythms. Eat a variety of fish to help minimize potential adverse effects of mercury and environmental pollutants. Be sure to check local and state advisories about the safety of fish caught in local lakes, rivers and coastal areas."

Pedroche enjoys Spanish tortilla (also known as Spanish omelet), a delicious traditional Spanish dish made with eggs and potatoes. "Whole eggs are nutritionally rich, supplying almost every nutrient you need," says registered nutritionist Jo Lewin. "They are useful sources of some of the hard to get nutrients like vitamins D and B12 as well as the mineral iodine. Eggs are regarded as a 'complete' source of protein as they contain all nine essential amino acids, which we must obtain from our diet. Furthermore, if you choose brands enriched with omega-3 fatty acids, due to the diet the chickens are fed, you'll benefit from higher omega-3 fatty acids as well as fat soluble vitamins such as vitamins A and E."

She Likes Squid

Pedroche is a big fan of baby squid, and loves a dish where it's served with bone marrow.  "Squid contains nearly twice the amount of vitamin B6 than chicken and nearly four times more than cod," says the Shellfish Association of Great Britain. Squid is also a fantastic source of vitamin B12, selenium, copper, vitamin B6, vitamin E, phosphorus, and protein.
