She Hydrates, First Thing in the AM
Meghann prioritizes hydration. "I down a massive Yeti water bottle, pre-coffee. Hydrating myself is key," she told Women's Health. "I drink so much more water than I even care to drink because I think that it really really helps me get through those 14-, 15-, 16-hour days that we pull sometimes. It helps mentally and physically, and it's great for my skin." According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids
She Exercises
Meghann keeps it simple when it comes to breaking a sweat. "On days I can sleep till 7:00, I go to Orangetheory or run. I live in [Brooklyn], so I run by the water a lot," she told Women's Health. Running is a great workout, as it can be done anywhere and boasts serious health benefits. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. "For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories," they say.
She Eats Eggs
Meghann fuels up in the morning with eggs. "Breakfast is my favorite. When I travel, I search for the best diner to check out. I'm an omelet girl. I put hot sauce on everything." "Most healthy people can eat up to seven eggs a week without increasing their risk of heart disease. Some studies have shown that this level of egg consumption might even help prevent certain types of stroke and a serious eye condition called macular degeneration that can lead to blindness," says the Mayo Clinic.
She Meditates
Meghann maintains that meditation and breathing help keep her in check. "Heavy breathing and sweat give me clarity. If I can't, I do a breathing exercise on a fancy meditation app, Calm," she told Women's Health. "On the outside, someone who's meditating might not seem to be doing anything other than breathing or repeating a sound or phrase over and over. Inside their brain, however, it's an entirely different story. Modern diagnostic and imaging techniques, like electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans, show that meditation can positively affect your brain and mental health," says the Cleveland Clinic.
She Loves This Italian Dish
Meghann loves a certain Italian dish. When asked about what she misses the most from filming in Italy, she revealed it was the food. "Ooh, what do I miss the most? I think I miss the cacio e pepe," she told Glamour. "Take me back!" Try replacing your past with spaghetti squash. "You're getting tons of vitamin C, vitamin B6, betacarotene and fiber," Beth Czerwony, RD, tells the Cleveland Clinic, which adds: "It also has antioxidants, which Czerwony notes are especially helpful for other reasons." "We talk about free radicals from the polluted air we take in and the damage they can do to your body. But these antioxidants fight them and break them down," she says.
