Pancakes Before the Game

One of Cambageโs pre-game rituals is to eat pancakes. โI try to eat pancakes every day before a game. Pancakes is my thing,โ she says. โEvery game day in Tulsa we go to IHOP. In Australia my nana cooks me pancakes. Also, our major sponsor for my team in Australia is Pancake Parlor which is an organic 24 hour pancake place. Itโs awesome.โ
She Doesnโt Drink Alcohol
Cambage avoids alcohol, after a particularly bad incident when she was younger. โWhen I was 18, I got alcohol poisoning at a music festival on New Yearโs Eve so I spent New Yearโs Eve on an IV, projectile vomiting for six hours straight. I was like, โI canโt do this!โโ she says. โIt was a 40-degree day, we were out in the sun, I had a few vodkas and my body was like: what are you doing? It was actually pretty scary. I donโt need it. Iโm always bubbly, Iโm not shy and I donโt lack confidence. Itโs funny that the whole โsceneโ is to have a drink in your hand, but Iโll just have a bottle of water.โ
She Loves Coconut
Cambage is passionate about her love for coconut, especially in desserts. โUnlike cowโs milk, coconut milk is lactose-free, so can be used as a milk substitute for those with lactose intolerance,โ says registered nutritionist Jo Lewin. โLactose is the main type of carbohydrate in all mammalian milk, including human, goat and sheep. Itโs made up of two sugars, and your body needs an enzyme called lactase to adequately digest it. Itโs this enzyme thatโs lacking in those with lactose intolerance. Coconut milk is also a popular choice with vegans and makes a great base for smoothies or milkshakes and can be used as a dairy alternative in baking.โ
Spin Classes
Cambage loves to โride like the windโ in spin class. โSpin gives you a new perspective on how to ride, breathe, and think about your body,โ says Peloton instructor Jess King. โThereโs music from all different decadesโfrom classic rock to EDMโand we use interval training, tabata training, and heart rate training, so itโs still a great workout.โ
Stretching Exercises

Cambage makes sure to include stretching exercises in her workout routine. โA lot of people donโt understand that stretching has to happen on a regular basis. It should be daily,โ says David Nolan, a physical therapist at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital. โThe areas critical for mobility are in your lower extremities: your calves, your hamstrings, your hip flexors in the pelvis and quadriceps in the front of the thigh.โ
