Peluso uses dumbbells as part of her workout routine. "Dumbbells are an excellent low-cost option for strength training and even metabolic conditioning," says Mary Edwards, Fitness Director and Professional Fitness Trainer at Cooper Fitness Center in Dallas. "They're easily accessible and sold in most major athletic retail stores and online."

Peluso is a professional performer, and dancing is part of her creative career. Dancing has many benefits, no matter what your skill level. "When you begin moving, you immediately release the brain chemicals dopamine, adrenaline, and endorphins, causing a powerful and lasting effect I call 'energized optimism,'" says Kelly McGonigal, PhD.

Bathing Beauty

Peluso enjoys the mental and physical benefits of baths. "Baths help many people sleep well," says family medicine provider Amy Zack, MD. "They also create a good environment for meditation, thought and escape from everyday stressors."

4

Sauna Sessions

Peluso enjoys regular sauna sessions. "If you have access to a sauna and are considering incorporating it into your routine, first discuss with your doctor as you would before starting any kind of new exercise regimen," says Dr. Michael Daignault. "Remember, using the sauna induces the same physiologic response you would experience from an intense workout. Sauna use is not recommended for those with a history of low blood pressure, recent heart attack or stroke, and individuals with altered or reduced sweat function. Pregnant women and children should also avoid the sauna."

5

Focusing On Happiness

Peluso focuses on personal happiness and wellbeing above all else for the future. "I hope I'm happy with my work, with my family, and with my friends," she says. "I really want to do what I feel, and I don't want to lose the improvisation, the intuition, and all that stuff I feel in my heart. So in five years, I want to have three albums more, at least. I really want to play my music in very huge places for a very huge [audience] in every part of the world. And I want to have my house, my animals, and my plants, and my family. I want to be happy."
