The social & therapeutic practice dates back to Roman times!" How does she stay so fit? Green Tea
Yeow enjoys green tea with breakfast and throughout the day. "Green tea is exceptionally high in flavonoids that can help boost your heart health by lowering bad cholesterol and reducing blood clotting," says Penn Medicine. "Studies show this type of tea can also help lower blood pressure, triglycerides and total cholesterol."
Fruit Snacks
Yeow snacks on apples and melon with prosciutto in the afternoon. "Apples are a great source of fiber: a medium sized apple has about five grams. (We need about 25 to 35 grams of fiber each day, so the apple gets you off on a great start.) Apples also contain phytochemicals which are compounds in plants, including quercetin and polyphenols," says Amy Wilcoxon, RD.
Beauty Mantra
Yeow believes in nurturing beauty from the inside out. "I drink lots of good quality Chinese green tea and take fish oil," she says. "I eat a lot of vegetables, very little meat and I don't really drink."
Stew and Rice
Yeow enjoys a hearty and nutritious evening meal. "Dinner is a Chinese-style mushroom stew with doubanjiang sauce and red rice," she says. "After dinner, I have two Tim Tams [a type of Australian cookie], two large glasses of cool green tea and two handfuls of salted pistachios. A little later I have a glass of water and a curcumin tablet."
Aging Gracefully
Yeow believes less is more when it comes to her skincare. "I'm a great believer in aging gracefully and naturally," she says. "I'm definitely low maintenance in that I don't go to any kind of salon. Anything I can't achieve from home, using good quality products, is a no."
