Coffee and Fruit
Poarch enjoys apples and iced coffee for breakfast. Both offer health benefits, experts say: Not only are apples delicious and convenient, they are full of nutrients and antioxidants. Your best bet for the healthiest apple in terms of phytochemicals? Red Delicious and Northern Spy.
Garlic Fried Rice
Poarch loves Filipino garlic fried rice, fish, and tomatoes for a healthy meal. Rice is a staple in many cuisines around the world, but not all rice is created equal when it comes to health. "Hands down, brown rice brings more to the table," says Beth Czerwony, RD.
Military Experience
Poarch joined the US navy at 17, and served for three years. "Every time I meet new people and I tell them I was in the military before TikTok, they're always shocked," she says. "I learned so much from it. The military taught me to be mentally strong, like I can pick up an 80lbs machine gun, it's all in my head that I can't. It taught me not to give up.
Workouts For Stress Relief
Poarch uses stress balls when she needs them. "I don't like to show people I'm stressed out," she says. "I don't want to bring bad energy to people's days. So when I'm stressed out, I like to release it at home, listen to some Metallica, and work out and use this stress ball."
Self-Expression For Mental Health
Poarch makes sure to use forms of self-expression (such as listening to music) as a method of stress relief and happiness. "It's important for mental health," she says. "Especially if you don't really talk to people, like me, and you tend to bottle your feelings."
